Videos Don't Play In Browser Anymore..(Windows Media Player related)

Whenever I have a clean install of Windows 2000 and the latest version of media player, all streaming video play fine in any of my browsers. It even shows the skin that I chose to use. Not too long ago I now see the Media Player classic skin on the site I wanna watch the videos and the videos do not play at all nor does the media player function and bother to connect to the media.

I rememeber a while back installing Quicktime Alternative which works better for me than Quicktime. It also installs Media Player Classic if you choose it to, which I did but still made the newer Media PLayer my default for most of the videos and did not assign any to media player classic.

Seriously, something like this always happens when I do a clean windows install and everything plays fine on everything. Over time everything is screwed up and doesn't work anymore like it used to, I'm getting sick of this.

Any kind of tips would be appreciated, I just hope I can restore this back to normal.
