Well Football(Soccer) has a World cup, Rugby has a World Cup, even baseball is starting to become serious about international play, so I had an ideal.
See, Basketball is a world sport... So instead of the current drab basketball tournaments FIBA has, why not have a Basketball World Cup every 4 years. The USA was once the complete dominant force in Basketball, but it's become all to apparent that is no longer the case. There are some good international teams out there, teams like the Chinese, the Greeks, the Argentines, Germany, Lithuania, and many others. And like football(soccer) basketball is an easy sport to learn and it doesn't take a lot of expensive equipment to play. So what to you folks think of that... We can host the first one in the USA, then the next one in China, then host one in Germany, and so on...

Okay, I have an ideal for a new pointless game here at A-U. Let's try and provide facts and info about ever US State and Canadian Province. It's okay to provide info about States and Provinces you don't live in.
(And lets try not to provide facts like "this State or Province has the most Jerks" or "This State or Province has the most ugly people".) Kentucky Kentucky was the 15th state admitted to the Union, in 1792. Population from the last census was 4,117,821 (26th in the Nation). It has a land area of 39,728 sq mi (36th in the nation). Three sides of Kentucky's borders are formed by rivers, the Big Sandy to the east, the Ohio to the north, and the Mississippi to the West. Kentucky's capital is Frankfort, it's largest city is the Louisville metro region, with a population of 693,604. Kentucky is famous for it's horse farms, but is also a major producer of coal and tobacco. Kentucky was the birthplace of both of the serving presidents during the civil war, Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. Many folks believe Daniel Boone was the first permanent European settler in what is now Kentucky, but actually Dr. Thomas Walker holds that distinction. Kentucky was considered a border state during the Civil War, and many men from the state fought for both the Union and Confederacy. Kentucky is famous for it's famed Bluegrass region, a beautiful rolling plain that surrounds Lexington. At Churchill Downs in Louisville, the famed Kentucky Derby is held each year. |
