During the last year or two, I've been posting brief extracts from my draft database of infamous UFO/alien videos and photos when a relevant thread has popped up on alien-ufos.com (and on ATS and a few other forums). I hope that has been useful. However, I've rarely started a thread myself...

I'm now planning a more systematic approach.

I hope to shortly make available the background to quite a few infamous photos of "aliens" available on a website or blog. The relevant infamous photos appear again and again and again on the Internet, and account for a considerable proportion of the photos that appear on UFO websites and on UFO discussion forums (including alien-UFOs.com).

The information that I'll be making available will include details from UFO books which I've read (now numbering somewhere over 1,000), plus various UFO magazines, journals, websites and discussion forums (including the archives of relevant threads). I will also be including some previously unpublished information from my own research and information supplied by several other ufologists.

At some point, I'll do something similar with information about quite a few infamous UFO videos.

In an attempt to deal with the "alien" photos which pop up on the Internet (on this forum and elsewhere) the most frequently, I've been attempting to look at as many past threads as possible. In addition, I've been compiling information on various websites which include collections of "aliens" - with an emphasis on websites which give relevant information on these photos and/or references to further information.

If anyone has any useful online sources they consider worth adding to the following, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

[I'll post a separate thread at some point on off-line sources (e.g. relevant books and articles) - but if anyone wants to shout out any recommendations now, that would be fine with me.]

(1) http://www.alien-ufo-pictures.com/
One of the largest collections of “alien” photos on the Internet. Those operating the website state they believe that they have “the largest collection on the internet” of “genuine alien pictures”. Many of the pictures are not accompanied by any text. Some of the pictures are accompanied by text, but that text is generally rather imaginative/sensational and has little to do with the real stories behind the pictures. Several of the pictures are in fact of “aliens” from famous science fiction movies or television programmes, plus various known hoaxes from various sources.

(2) http://thebiggestsecretpict.online.fr/ufo_et.htm
Large collection of “alien” photos in the bottom third of the page, from “ETs, genuine : The following pictures are most likely 100% authentic” downwards. The photos are accompanied by text that is generally far more helpful than on most other websites. Up to several sentences accompany many of the “alien” photos, giving relevant background/analysis. There are even a few links to further details. There are, however, a few significant errors and there is a tendency to state that the source or details are “unknown” when in fact these details can be discovered from reading UFO books/journals/forums or by other investigation.

(3) http://ufologie.net/et/etpics.htm
This website, operated by Patrick Gross (a French ufologist), includes a fairly extensive collection of “alien” photos, but is probably less extensive than several other websites. However, far more importantly, it generally contains the most extensive and helpful discussion of these photos. References to further information are relatively common within the relevant descriptions, which are often more than just a few words or sentences. In some cases, the accompanying text is several pages long.

(4) http://www.iwasabducted.com/aliengallery/
Relatively small collection of “alien” photos, but includes some details in relation to these photos that are not commonly included on other websites.

(5) http://www.ufocasebook.com/bestalienpictures.html
Large collection of “alien” photos. Photos accompanied by text of just a few words. The brief descriptions generally state where the “alien” was purportedly photographed. Several known fakes are included. A disclaimer on that webpage notes that: “There is no way to absolutely prove that any of these images represent an actual alien being. There are many fakes, hoaxes, and representations made of alleged alien beings”. Although this general reservation is included, there is no indication accompanying any of the known hoaxes of their actual background. Indeed, the webmaster notes rather tersely at the top of the page: “No reason to write us and say that a certain photograph is a fake. We are only presenting what has been presented to us. Thank you.”

(6) http://www.geocities.com/strangesupernatur..._encounters.htm
Collection of the “usual suspects”, with some text briefly giving some background on most of the photos.

(7) http://www.ufoevidence.org/Cases/CaseView....tion=AlienPhoto
Relatively small collection, but with a paragraph of text for each photo and an indication of a source of further information.

(8) http://www.crowdedskies.com/alien_pictures.htm
Relatively small collection of “alien” pictures, including sketches and some tattoos. No text accompanying the photos.

(9) http://www.alienphotos.k-netti.nu/main/photos.asp?wid=1611
One of the most largest collection of “alien” pictures. A word or two of text accompanies most of the pictures, which in most cases does not give any indication of their actual background.

(10) http://www.book-of-thoth.com/portalsupport...e/index-42.html
Relatively small collection, with some brief information given about most of the relevant photos. The details given are usually less extensive than Patrick Gross’ website, and the format and content of the text suggests that Patrick Gross’ website may have been the source for several of the relevant descriptions.

(11) http://www.ufovideo.net/ALIENSALIENS.htm
Relatively small collection of alien photos, no accompanying information about their background.

(12) http://www.forteantimes.com/strangedays/uf...hotography.html
Useful article by Jenny Randles, published in Fortean Times magazine in May 2006, on several of the most famous "alien" photos.

If you live in Canada and get "Space: The Imagination Station" channel and are interested in UFOs, it should be worth turning on your TV or video for a new UFO documentary on Thursday 10 May 2007.

"Best Evidence : Top Ten UFO Sightings" will premiere on "Space: The Imagination Station" on 10th May 2007, at 10 pm AST / 9 pm EST.

This is a new documentary by film-maker Paul Kimball. He is one of a very small number of film-makers that actually knows quite a bit about ufology, and many of the major players in the field.

The opening words of his documentary describe the compilation of a new list of the "Top 10" UFO cases:

In 2005 and 2006, documentary filmmaker Paul Kimball surveyed a select group of the world’s leading UFO researchers. He asked each of them for a list of their ten best UFO cases of all time. The cases were assigned point values, based on their rank, and then averaged together. Over seventy UFO incidents from around the world received votes. At the end of the process, the following ten incidents comprised the best evidence UFO cases of all time.

Several of the biggest names in ufology were involved in the poll used to compile this list of the "top 10" cases, including Dick Hall, Stan Friedman, Kevin Randle, Nick Pope, Bruce Maccabee and Nick Redfern.

I'm looking forward to it.

Paul Kimball’s main blog, “The Other Side of Truth”, is at:
http://www.redstarfilms.blogspot.com/

Another of Paul Kimball’s blogs is dedicated to this documentary, at:
http://bestevidence.blogspot.com/

A new two hour audio interview with Paul Kimball should be on the website below from around the time of the broadcast of the documentary:

As many of you are aware, France recently made a mass of UFO files available.

Now, Dr Dave Clarke has announced that he received a letter from the British Ministry of Defence last month indicating that the MoD has similar plans. See:
http://www.drdavidclarke.co.uk/news1.htm

Dr Dave Clarke has said:
Britain's Ministry of Defence are to publish their secret archive of UFO reports to dispel claims they have been hiding knowledge of alien visitors to the UK. ...

Although the MoD claim no UFO report has ever been judged to be of defence significance, a small number were subjected to detailed investigations by the RAF and DI55. The nature of these investigations, and their findings, have until recently been a closely guarded secret. During the same thirty year period covered by the French UFO project, more than 7,000 UFO reports were collected by DI55 whose precise role and responsibilities the British Government refuse to discuss. Until recently it was feared all 24 of DI55's UFO files could be destroyed as they had been exposed during storage to deadly asbestos dust along with 63,000 other 'sensitive' intelligence files from the Cold War. But at the end of a £3 million publicly-funded project all the contaminated papers have been saved and are scanned onto CD roms.

A decision was taken earlier this year to make the UFO archive a priority for release via the MoD's website which already hosts the papers on the Rendlesham Forest incident and the Condign report. The first electronic scans of the UFO files, which begin in the mid-1970s, will be added to the website later this year. The DI55 archive contains numerous reports by service personnel including RAF and Royal Navy pilots and by civilian aircrew. They also include the material used by the author of the Condign report who analysed more than 3,000 UFO reports collected by the MoD during the ten years 1987-97."

Dr Clarke is a British researcher that teaches journalism at Sheffield Hallam University and folklore at Sheffield University. He recently co-authored a new book called "Flying Saucerers: A social history of Ufology". See:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flying-Saucerers-S...y/dp/1905646003

The Condign Report mentioned by Dr Clarke was released by the MoD during May 2006 and is available online on the MoD website at: http://tinyurl.com/kqll2

My comments on the Condign Report can be found on the UFO Updates website at the the link below:

I think another thread on this forum has already mentioned plans by the French National Centre of Space Studies (CNES) to release France's UFO files.

The first batch of files was made available by CNES today (Thursday 22 March 2007) at the link below:
http://www.cnes-geipan.fr/geipan/

[At the time of writing the link is not working (nor for the main CNES homepage) possibly because of the number of people attempting to view the files].

One of the first of the news items about this release can be found at the link below: HERE.

In relation to the claim by French officials that this release is a world first, it should be noted that numerous other countries have already released a considerable number of UFO documents (including the USA, the UK, Spain and Australia).

Hi all,

I've recently posted a rather long email to UFO Updates about the reinvention of the wheel in relation to the numerous petitions relating to UFOs. That email is online at the link below:

http://www.virtuallystrange.net/ufo/update...n/m01-007.shtml

For ease of reference, I've culled the material which simply summarises the main existing petitions below:

An international petition to the United Nations is being organised by John Velez on the Virtually Strange website at the link below:
http://www.virtuallystrange.net/petition/

During June 2005, John Velez claimed the petition had 5835 signatures.
That petition is addressed to the Secretary General of the
United Nations and requests that he take action to encourage
Member Nations to:

(1) declassify and release all UFO files or records in their
possession;

(2) cooperate with and support serious scientific efforts to
study this phenomenon;

(3) promulgate regulations or laws requiring military personnel,
professional pilots, police officers, and maritime personnel to
generate reports on any UFOs sighted in the course of their
professional duties and to make those reports freely available
to the public after any legitimately classified portions are
deleted. ...

A separate petition (also directed to the United Nations) is being organised by
Alfred Webre at the link below.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/529287855

It includes the following:

---

1. The United Nations General assembly establishes a DECADE OF
CONTACT with the following four Objectives:

DISCLOSURE - Open, transparent, official governmental disclosure
and declassification of all past and present programs related to
Extraterrestrial Presence.

DECADE OF CONTACT - Public funding by U.N. Member Nations and by
the UNITED NATIONS of a 10 year process of formal public
education, scientific research, educational curricula
development, strategic planning, community activity, and public
outreach about the Extraterrestrial Presence and our future in a
populated Universe.

DISARMAMENT - A permanent ban on all space-based weapons and
warfare in space through a Space Preservation Treaty Conference.

DIPLOMACY Public Interest UNITED NATIONS Diplomacy with ethical
Off-Planet Cultures now visiting Earth.

---

In the UK, there is a petition organised by Steve Watkins on the Alien
Existence website (commonly refered to as "the UK UFO
Petition"). See:
http://www.alienexistence.com/petition/

That petition (which appears to currently have over 500 signatures):

1. seeks that the UK Government "engage in a public held forum
debate, on National Television, in regard to the subject of
Unidentified Flying Objects and Extra Terrestrial Intelligence"

2. "request that full disclosure of all known UFO sightings &
cases, including abduction cases across the United Kingdom are
made available under the good spirit of the Freedom Of
Information Act and partnership working."

3. "seek clarification as to what the 'unknowns' are, secret
projects by Government/Military or genuine unknowns".

There are a myriad of other petitions on the Internet
with a small number of signatures, including:

(1) 403 Signatures: Addressed to "President of U.S., U.S.
Congress, United Nations": "In the Declaration of Cosmic
Cooperation, we are stating to the Universe that "we the people"
now want space to be a place of peace, that we humans want to be
peaceful participants with members of Off Planet Cultures, and
that we want to reap the benefits of such relations with them."
http://www.petitiononline.com/tj41776/petition.html

(2) 125 Signatures: "Lets all welcome our ET friends to come
down and do first contact!".
