Jounalist Nick Cook has a close encounter with the claim of UFO sightings from the past 60 years.
The British aerospace specialist interviews millitary experts and historians, and searches through classified government documents to uncover the truth.
He probes mysterious Second World War accounts, explores the landmark Roswell and Zamora sightings and looks into mass reports of Alien Abductions in America during the 1980's and 90's.

Sounds interesting to me, and I thought it would be to anyone else who can get Channel 4

A debunker is a skeptic who pursues dispelling false and unscientific claims. The term debunker is applied when a professional performs research and/or writes an article with the specific intent of proving or disproving a bizarre or abnormal claim, such as those about U.F.O.s or other paranormal phenomenon, and conclusively disproves the validity of the event and/or object.

Or just someone who makes up their mind before looking at the evidence

It is on this Thursday night....UK - Channel 4 - 9PM to 11:05PM, it is on for two hours so lets hope it stays interesting, saying that Channel 4 usually have the better standard of programming, compared to the other terrestrial channels in the uk.....(IMHO that is).

Tonight at 9PM in the UK, just for those of you interested. Will be watching this one, and will record it to dvd.

I'm just hoping it isnt another one of those things, which they try as much as possible to disprove of ufo's there is no such thing.. lets see.

The name would suggest that they are not trying to debunk UFO's either way it looks like a good watch.

Watching it right now, It's OK. He is a bit skeptical, but it isn't just about planes

Well i watched it, it was good. But as ufo hunter says, he was a bit of a skeptic. The basic end answer was that there are a handful of real unexplained sightings, yet most are to do with area-51 testing grounds.

I'm a bit disappointed that there wasnt that much put into real alien sightings, and when it came to roswell.. the guy said it was more than likely just one of our own craft, but he mentioned nothing of the supposed E.T body's.

Overall i'd say it was a good programme to watch, travis walton was on there too.

Same answer we get each time, its a mixture of unexplainable, and explainable.

It is easy for us all to forget that only 10% of all the sightings remain unexplainable, I thought the scene with the ranch owner and his mutilated cattle was one of the most interesting parts to the program, he actually witnessed what at first seemed a lit up saucer shaped craft, only when the beam of light came from the cockpit, it lit up the rotors that shown it was really an Helicopter....So in reality someone was trying to blame the abduction and mutilation on UFOs and aliens....Why did they do that...???

The program made a lot of sense, but besides the information we already have at hand there was not much new information, except about about the spy planes being buzzed by lights, with radar confirmation, that was a new one on me......Marks out of ten for the program....I would have to give it a six, because most of the answers where pure conjecture and the personal opinion of the presenter, even though it did cover a lot of ground.

it did cover alot of ground, but why didnt they mention the strange metals that were found in the roswell wreckage?, why didnt the body or bodies get explained?. The presenter just said, yeah ok.. it was more than likely one of our own craft, nothing more.

Anyway, even though it missed some of the things i feel should have been included, it taught us that the government is lying to everyone and that UFO's are real.. but unfortunately most (if not all) of them seem to be secret craft and not alien, of course.. luckily there are the more bizarre sightings of craft and aliens out there, which could be the small amount that might be real.

That travis walton didnt last long on there though did he?, not much was said about that alien abduction.

Not to mention, one of the guys interviewed on there reckons we have no alien technology at all, and none has ever been found.. Hmm

This show was great. Now I realy do think america has opperational UFO disks which would explain alot of sightings over the USA and UK. Who would have thought the Germans during WW2 had a prototype of a UFO, only to have there blueprints brought to america after the war. Also the bit at the end about the Aurora this thing goes like stink with pulsejet engines, 3600mph =1 mile per second.

Although certain info was mentioned in regards to the U.K there was nothing said about the rendlesham forest incident,or Margaret Thatchers quote\book of the same title you "cant tell the people" wouldn't we all be interested to hear exactly what it is we shouldn't be told.Why do they seem to always refer to Churchill and past incident,they forget about the resent events that have happened

I didn't really like Cook's way of thinking.
Once he had discovered that the American's and the Nazi's were testing saucer shaped craft, this could obviously account for the whole phenomena.
In my opinion, it doesn't.
There is no proof the Nazi's ever managed to get these saucers to fly, let alone perform amazing maneuvers.

And in 2+ hours, he should have managed to squeeze some of the other good UFO sightings into the programme.
As eddie said, Rendlesham didn't get a mention and that is as important as Roswell...It still hasn't been fully explained
