Some of the things our own government was doing and probably is still doing.

That is appalling! I highly doubt it would still be going on now, as it is totally inhumane and wrong. Plus there is alot more information out on that diease than there was. No one would stand for it, and you would have to be very naive to think they were helping you. The media would have a field day if it was still carrying on.........

The scandal is so well known they could only do it (illegally) with prisoners. No one would volunteer as those poor men did sixty years ago. I once saw a doctor involved with the experiments (!) interviewed and he was totally unrepentant. I wish they'd asked him if he would have liked his son to be a subject in such an experiment. Nazi scum! :trollblas

When you think about how America outwardly judges the world this experiment alone makes us extreme hypocrits.
We take over peoples countries for doing things like this, i.e Iraq - Saddam gasses his citizens, we move in. But we infect nearly 400 innocent men with Sypholis which is then contracted by their loved ones and birthed into their children, and it takes another quarter of a decade for a president to issue a half-witted apology? This is not only a conspiracy, its a travesty, and a cruel reminder that those who govern us are the largest hypocrits of all. |

IIRC, I don't believe the subjects were infected by the scientists (a word I use loosely here), but the experimenters did deter these already infected men from receiving any real help since the subjects thought they were already receiving "treatment".
 Which is horrible enough. |

LydaRose: the government did purposely infect those men with the diseases they were interested and paid to find out about. They used poor, mostly black men, for these experiments. It became a well known national shameful part of our history.
This is a perfect example of why we should be always questioning the government, from the local on up to the White House...and don't quit until we get the whole story...the truth. |

An experiment/project like that wouldnt be able to be conducted in this day and age. The media would have a field day, unless the government or organisation kept it very underground and covert. Sounds like they liked acid alot, even the head of the experiment was drugged up! Nice find Kelly.......

I think, if they are doing these things still, they're just doing them in remote areas of the world now.
There's a good chance, IMO, that they're doing them in Guantanamo Bay right now. |

I remember those times and everything was screwy. Timothy Leary was dropping acid like most people drink juice...he was a prof at USC or somewhere thereabouts. His motto was.."tune in, turn on, and drop out". Talk about frying your brain cells! At any rate those were truly the days when the men in black were not only real they were easily spotted in any given city. I've had experiences there too that I won't go into right now. So these things I'm already aware of and remember when an aghast nation found out about it too.:smokin:  :baghead:

I beleive it could very well happen in this day and age. Media being unable to report accurately for a number of reasons, are absolutely no help to anyone when we want the facts, not the so called watered down versions that have more to do with manipulating the world populations into thinking our world is safe, yet at the same time totally full of threats from all manner of hideous treachery.
At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, I have to say that it seems to me a good deal of conspiring has gone on in the past and in light of that and all the new stories of years past coming to light now, I dont think its wise or crazy to assume it isnt going on today. Except today, they are far more cunning from the mistakes in the past, and I doubt that it is something you can just stumble on without a great deal of time and sleuth. The intelligence agencies work together to carry out these immoral and self serving traps, and the only reason this is possible is that people dont think they are doing anything wrong because they work for the governments, and think naively that they must at time act in immoral ways for good of the majority, even if that means sacrificing a few. What they dont get yet, as they are so bereft of self honesty, is that the only people that benefit, are not the majority, but the tiny few, that play puppet master. Obviously black people have had the worst dose of the medicine in america, and you'd think that for anyone to have no regrets that took part in such disgraceful acts, would have not happened in the last 50 years of modern times. But then look at Darfur, rwanda, zimbabwe, ethiopia, congo, the list goes on. Our times are no better, and may be worse. Personally I think the disgrace of modern times is the lack of will and action, to stop human rights abuses. The people who hold the burden of guilt are not us, the common people, but the leaders in every powerful nation and their political agencies. Capitalism is a venereal disease of the new world. People are being f**cked over for the profits of greedy corporations and their equally greedy shareholders. |

Remember Erin Brockivich, that was one of my fav movies. She had the balls that alot of men didnt, and wouldnt be made to backdown even though she could well have been putting her life on the line. Thank god the judicial system has checks and balances in place, but with Bush trying to swear in his personal Lawyer so he can control her, even after his term is up, just shows that it may not be long before one of their own is sitting in the Supreme Court. Thats a heartwarming thought.
