if you knew a person or a group of people was a serious threat to someone would you put a stop to them before they could hurt a random person? im only asking cause im having this problem right now. a few days ago i encountered some dangerous individuals who picked me out of all the people around because i was alone and walking through an alley. it was almost a robbery complete with these people surrounding me putting the bandannas on thier face. it was the full scumbag deal.now this wouldnt bother me normally but the fact that these guys did it right in front of the police station (which is why i think im not like in the hospital) is why i think these men are dangerous. i managed to not get robbed and at the time i was on the way to meet a friend so we followed one of them to where he lives. now the moral question is do i let this guy who is obviously out of his mind get away with it or do i send a message to his friends?

You report the incident to the police and let them do their job.

I'm sorry, but what was the crime? Ok, I'll tell you. It was intimidation, and to make someone fear you is a crime in itself. I assume this group of people hang out in spots waiting to pick a person whom they will make feel inferior with verbal assualt, that will lead to physical assault then take items from that individual. What if it were a lady?

You take your experience you had and you file a report with the police. Tell them when and where. Descriptions; hair color, tattoos, scars, obvious stuff... Have you seen them hang out at any other place than the area you had your experience with?

Remember, the next time these guys hurt someone, it maybe someone you know.

in this day and time, do what you have to do to protect yourself or others

Exactly.

What makes you think if you try to handle this on your own you won't get the worse of it?

Be sensible. Violence is a last resort.

Sometimes crimes occur and when the police are informed they arent really effective. The 'offender' has gone and all you can give is a rough description. They do a search, take a statement, then say we will call you in the next few days to arrange a computer generated image. And then suprise suprise, they dont call. In the case I am refering to it would have been better for me and my mates to sort him out. But if it is serious enough then the police are necessary.......

Man don't get yourself hurt! Tell the police. Hold the anger dude because it is what is still going through your veins. You are having a normal reaction of trauma to some absolute bs that invaded your privacy and made you feel helpless so now part of you wants to feel powerful to compensate. Hold the anger dude. Tell the cops. It aint worth getting shot or stabbed and these guys will do that - it will escalate. I am sorry it happened to you!

hehe, thats why I'm getting a shooting tazer gun this X-mas for my self. That way I'm not feeling like Keegan when I get jewed by the lack of intrest from local law enforcement. More than anything I just want to know that I have a safe alternative in stopping someone in their tracks w/out killing them.

peace,
Austin

Galvacon the word "Jewed" shall we say is a tad antiquated. Try use a word like "disappointed" instead. Thanks. I do know what you were trying to say. Ah Galvacon, don't be sticking that tazer up someone's butt too fast. It may expose you to a nasty law suit. Trust this Jew/law/boy on that last comment. Later zap man.

They'd be in for quite a shock the next time they stepped out their door if they tried that on me. Namely a shocking blow to the skull. Then maybe do some sadistic-looking things to their body, which will scare their friends into leaving you alone, among others. I'm sure they wouldn't want their heads hung from a tree with pentagrams of blood all around them, as happened to their comrade.

Be sure to wear gloves, and wrap your shoes in some kind of materal which will prevent you from leaving footprints. Also, do not ever touch the weapon of choice with your bare hands, from the time of picking it up to purchase, and when you ditch it. Get a few reliable buddies who you know won't crack to tell interrogators you were with them during the time the killing took place. They would more than likely have no evidence against you.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: ANGRY_JERK DOES NOT CONDONE ACTS OF MURDER ON OTHER PEOPLE. ANGRY_JERK DOES NOT HOLD ANY RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU CHOOSE TO CARRY OUT THE ACTS MENTIONED ABOVE. YOU ARE DOING IT OUT OF YOUR OWN FREE WILL.

AJ...legal disclaimer aside (which the btw has no legality)...do you realize how morally reprehensible this is? You're not talking self-defense...you're talking pre-meditated murder. That puts you on their level.

Now a bit of advice and stern warning from me for anyone considering AJ's advice...NOTHING happens without a trace...you will leave evidence...to hell with bloody footprints or fingerprints....we're talking microscopic evidence that is sufficient to condemn you to death or life imprisonment...dont risk throwing away your life or freedom on a bit of foolish, unknowledgable advice.

I would just because if something happend to that person I would feel astonoshing amounts of guilt, you can't let someone take the fall because you're afraid of the consequences of your actions, yes it could land you in jail, and yeah its happend to me in the past, yes i would do it again because it saved my friends life, i lost 90 days of mine but hey they wouldve been spent sitting on my ass anyways!@

I used to think, aw, it won't help. But sometimes the police need to see a pattern. If you make your report and then it happens to someone else, they might get on it faster than if only one of you reports it. I think the same way about reporting harassment on the job or a college teacher's poor job performance. Ya never know.

J.T.: I would report it to the police, if for no other reason than to have it on record. Then I would find a way to get around without going thru alleys, especially at nite. No reason to set yourself up for something to happen. And instead of walking alone, try to have a buddy or two with you...there's safety in numbers. Prevention is half the battle. The last thing you want is violence. No big deal to sit in a cell....big deal to lay on a slab! Take care of yourself and think SMART! biggrin.gif
