Anyone here study one?

I took Ninjitsu (Ninja) training a few years back. But the school moved too far away. Im thinking about Kendo now. http://www.kendo-usa.org/abtken.htm
I also took Kung Fu when I lived in China for a while.

For me, nothing was better than Ninjitsu.

Yeah it is. And I carry either a Glock 23 or my Sig Sauer 229 (both in .40 cal) everyday. But Martial Arts are fun and great workouts.

Studied Muay-Thai kickboxing, Shaolin Long-fist, along with some Chi-kung techniques since I was 7. I havn't practiced for over a year though due to lack of time and space. I'll probably start back up again after my son turns 3. I've also thought about trying out Kendo since there are a few good schools nearby.

m4, is it really safe to go round carrying a glock and a sig sauer, like, what is your reason for it, is for protection or just to feel hard. because at the end of the day, could you live with yoursdelf if you killed somebody, and don't say, i'd only wound them, because in that situation you would have to shoot to kill. what if you escape from some muggers, hear them coming and then shoot them, only realising you have shot a kid. while i have a fascination with guns, and have several books on them, iwould not carry them for prtection, guns should only be for use in the military.
If every fucking american has a gun, then nobody will be afraid of each other, therfore you will have a bloodbath
you cannot seriously tell me that carrying around two pistols is for your protection, your more likely to do harm

It's catchy, isn't it? "...those fists were fast as lightening...."

Seriously, as an elementary school teacher, I have seen lessons in the martial arts help many children, particularly elementary age boys. Sometimes, children need a way to express themselves, to use their physical, mental and emotional selves in harmony and to develop an appreciation for themselves as a person with self-control. We have several studios in our part of town and they often sponsor activities at our school and make particular efforts to give appropriate instruction to troubled children. Kung Fu and Brazilian Ju Jitsu, to name only two, enrich lives and I have seen the martial arts bring wonderful things to children.

Ken Po! smile.gif

I have quite a few guns myself...more than necessary for my job or protection...but then, I also have quite a few swords which have no other purpose other than to feed my obession with history and fantasy...there's nothing wrong with collections after all but I can assure you that I never strap on a sword (ok maybe sometimes :mistress: ...to satisfy another obession...ok that was a joke lol) Anyway, my point is that as a responsible gun owner and an accurate shot..only one bullet is necessary for protection. M4 didnt say that he carries both guns everyday...only that he carries one or the other for protection...as to why he feel he needs to carry one for protection is his business, I suppose.

i studied many styles and mixed martial arts is the ultimate defence . its been proven in the UFC. nobody studies one art anymore unless its a hybrid or mixed art. well people study traditional styles but they are not practical against some one who is well rounded on the ground, standing close or far.its still nice to learn them though but i like practicality for my own safty.
i do however realy like Judo...i get to get airborne and throw guys around that are huge.
it is so much fun.

Shotokan karate for me, I don't have the time to study one martial art well enough, never mind extra ones. I do have some exposure to Aikido though.

I've taken Uechi-Ryu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Thai Boxing, Boxing, & some Jeet Kune Do... I used to be training for UFC style fights. I haven't been in to it lately though.

I am lisenced to carry a gun and do every day, for protection only, ( life or death situation ) so there would be no wounding... If it was kill or be killed
I have been at the receiving end of a gun before and I will be prepared if this ever happens again,
I disagree with you, If everyone had a gun and everyone knew it, people would be less likely to commit a crime ( in fear ) . to bad there is a serious lack of ( sane ) people in the world... if that were the case nobody would need a gun
I Know what I had to go thru for a concealed weapons lisence, was not easy or cheap, an FBI background check...no criminal record at all, fingerprint check, a class on the laws involved, and pass a shooting range test,
plus recurrent training.
I think the people we need to be worried about are the ones that have them that shouldnt have them. or have them illegally,
Someone who takes the proper steps to own or carry a firearm legally, isnt likely going to use that weapon for harm... it could easily be traced to them.

Not everyone can or will qualify to carry a gun. And those aiming to commit a crime will do it by any means necessary.
