I walked out. It was kind of ammusing at first with the redneck guy. But when the mutants came out of the hills, I decided to leave.

Rape scene, burning people and mutilation is just way to much. More and more of these films are being made.

I guess in the 70s, these films were funny because of the cheesey special effects and costumes. But with CGI and advanced materials in making body parts look real, Its only desensitising society and our children.

I saw SAW 1 and SAW II and they were OK. Not too much crazy stuff, but at some point, It's just to freaky to watch.

anyone enjoy these kind of films, and if so why?

Hollywood should make more UFO films and Comedys that you can actually like. More and more films have shock humor with cursing and weird sexual things just to get a laugh. I know some might find it Cheesey but films like Breakfast club and Class and all those Brat Pack films I saw as a teen were funny and somewhat clean. There was a little bit of pot or drug use, a little fornication and a little bit of teen angst. but it is just reflects the natural way of life.

I agree, Trog. I'm an avid horror fan but some horror crosses lines that, perhaps, should not be crossed. Original horror employed suspense to scare you and the second generation of horror employed gore to shock you and now this generation seeks to expose you to disturbing bits of insanity to repulse you.

I think they're made this way to appeal to the younger generation that plays those very graphic, violent, blood splattering, video games, which seems silly because a lot of them aren't old enough to see the movie.

From the previews alone, I knew I didn't want to watch the Hills Have Eyes.

I guess, we're getting old, when we have to go down memory lane and pick movies like the ones, Trog, mentioned and say, man why don't they make them like that anymore.

Reminds me of my dad and mom, when they spoke about movies they liked and we'd look at them like they were clueless when we were younger.

problem nowadays is they have no new ideas... so they re-vamp really good old movies with c.g.i for the next gen and end up taking away what made it good in the first place

The more shock, the less substance. Usually. Well, at least with Hollywood horror films. I'm kind of iffy on rape scenes, unless they're done right and are relevant. I know it sounds bad, but I've seen a lot of rape scenes, and it just kills me when the acting is really unconvincing.

I think the first thing Hollywood needs to do is take chances on directors that know horror films and know how to write them. I can't remember the last Hollywood horror film I actually enjoyed that came out in the last few years. House of 1000 Corpses was okay, though.

I don't think anyone cares about UFO films because they've all been done before, endlessly, and with barely any originality and concepts. Even if they do, they're usually victim to bad filmmaking/script anyway.
