There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998
For many years now, human-caused climate change has been viewed as a large and urgent problem. In truth, however, the biggest part of the problem is neither environmental nor scientific, but a self-created political fiasco. Consider the simple fact, drawn from the official temperature records of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, that for the years 1998-2005 global average temperature did not increase (there was actually a slight decrease, though not at a rate that differs significantly from zero). Yes, you did read that right. And also, yes, this eight-year period of temperature stasis did coincide with society's continued power station and SUV-inspired pumping of yet more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Read the rest on the link above ! So, do you think global warming is a big threat to the world or not ? I think it still is. |

So, do you think global warming is a big threat to the world or not ? I think it still is. It is but in terms of immediate danger to the human species - there are far, far worse problems to concern ourselves with right now......but yeah, it's a problem. Ben |

Umm By time it becomes a serieus problem, humans should have advanced alot, Umm if the climate temp raised a few degreese, Wouldnt the seas rise by 7 Meters? umm isnt that much to worry about atm unless you live in somewere like venis

Well I know Andrew's opinion on this and I respect it but I personally believe the use of fossel fuels, the pratice of burning coal, burning down rain forests, and emitting industrial pollutants in the atmosphere is continuing to contribute to a negative effect on the atmosphere, ozone levels and weather patterns.
Interesting that yesterday Bill Clinton gave a speech advocating the development of biofuels to reverse wage decline as well as global warming.I agree. I also note Faisal Moola, a scientist with the David Suzuki Foundation was quoted as part of a report just placed in Conservation Biology stating climate changes are going to cause the extinction of tens of thousands of species in the coming years. They are mentioning 56,000 plant species and 3,700 vertebrates disappearing as a direct result of increases in carbon dioxide. All I know is greehnouse emissions continue to rise as a result of our burning fossil fuels althohgh I do take note in another line of posts someone suggested humans should stop eating beans as well. Notwithstanding the fact that I may be passing gas and am full of hot air and on so on an individual level am contributing to the greenhouse emissions I also think its very much a world wide problem we humans have contributed to and must for the sake of our children and their children take serious control of. I think the warnings from those in touch with nature such as our aboriginals who are more connected to the soil and laws of nature should be seriously considered before its too late. We are not honouring the rules of nature and our industrial activities are disrupting the planet which is a living, breathing entity and will have no choice but to expel us if we continue to threaten it with man-made poisons and industrial activities. |

Here's an exerpt from www.worldviewofglobalwarming.org/
take a look for yourself; Rapid climate change and its effects is fast becoming one of the prime events of the 21st century. It is real and it is accelerating across the globe. As the effects of this change combine with overpopulation and weather crises, climate disruptions will affect more people than does war. The 2005 average global temperature equaled (within several hundredths of a degree) the record warm year of 1998, according to meteorologists. 2002-4 were nearly as warm, and the 11 warmest years on record have all occurred since 1990. In response, our planet has been changing with warming winds and rising seas. At the poles and in mountains, ice is under fire and glaciers are receding. Down into the temperate zone, change is rearranging the boundaries of life. The plants and animals with whom we share the planet are adapting and moving -- some even going extinct -- because they have no choice. We six billion humans are being affected, too. Coastal towns are suffering from rising sea level, storms are getting stronger and 35,000 people died in European heat waves in 2003. However, we have choices to make to help correct and ameliorate global warming. This is a story of frightening scale and and great urgency that is just beginning to be told. Please go to Actions to see what you can do now. I began photographing climate change in 1999, about when scientists started to realize how great a change in temperatures is taking place in our time. Past earth temperatures left their mark in tree rings, glaciers and ancient lake and ocean sediments, and the record shows slowly decreasing temperatures over the last 2000 years. In that time there have been warm and cool periods, but nothing like the rise in temperatures in the past 150 years -- and no increase even close to the past 30. This graph has become the single most powerful icon of climate change. The main reason for this sharp rise in global temperatures since the 1850s is thought to be a steep increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide -- CO2 -- from human use of fossil fuels. The mechanism of our atmosphere is that gases like CO2 and methane reflect the sun's heat back onto the earth, heating it. This natural greenhouse effect made the earth warm enough for life. Ice core records show that whenever CO2 has increased in the earth's past, so has temperature. In the last century atmospheric CO2 has risen steadily, and unnaturally, to above 370 parts per million, the highest level in more than 650,000 years. This increase caused earth's average atmospheric temperature to increase about one degree to about 58 degrees F. Now, according to NOAA, the global warming rate in the last 25 years has risen to 3.6 degrees F per century. This tends to confirm the predictions of temperature increases made by international panels of climate scientists (IPCC). The ocean is heating and becoming very slightly more acidic from the absorption of so much more carbon dioxide. The rate of CO2 increase is also accelerating, and the level in early 2004 was 379 p.p.m. These increases, seemingly small, have a giant effect on weather, climate zones, plants and animals, glaciers and river flow -- and thus human life. My project -- and this website -- seeks to document these changes. For more on past climate and today's weather, see especially the Paleoclimate and Weather sections. |

We need to start Bio Engineering some trees, If we cant stop Cardon Dioxide rising so much, then Lets make Super Geneticly modified trees to turn it to oxygen

Wouldn't water displacement work with the melting ice from global warming ? Wouldn't the sea not rise as much as some people are saying ? :headscrat BTW i did read somewhere that most of England would end up under water if the ice caps melt. |

Global warming is happening yes, and its mostly humanities fault, because its greedy nature, but its global dimming we want to be worrying about more.
People who don’t believe in global warming are the same kinds of people who believe that the universe is only 6 thousand years old, they are suggestible and open to brainwashing. Nature is pissed, as you might well have noticed, and you cant blame her really. |

Climate changes like Global Warming have always been a constant part of the history of this planet. In fact, Earth needs some Global Warming to stave off Ice Ages, but rapid and uncontroled Global Warming is dangerous. The questioned being debated by climatologists now is the current climate changes going on a natural change or has man's industry simply sped it up.

I Know its happening, Just, its hard to feel effects in some places, its starting to cool here, Dispite the massive lack of rain this year
No one knows if its out fault, until we know, its best not to temp fate and stop it or, do any more, keep at its current level is possable |

Nightime power is not possable with any solar panels on earth,
And lots of new homes are for the elderly or disabled, Since for some reason the disability is on the rise |
