does anyone know if lucas is going to make star wars 7,8, & 9? and if so if mark hammil, carrie fisher and harrison ford will be in them (cause u know solo and leia get married and have kids and luke marries this other chick (forgot her name) and has a kid also, and luke replaces yoda as leader of the new jedi council, at least in the books)?

It'd be cool, I think, and they certainly have the capability, to at least produce the continuing saga using digital animation...nowdays its difficult to discern between a real life human actor and a digital one...so no matter Hamil, Fisher or Ford's age...they could still make them look like they did where ROTJ left off.

 u know somehow i knew when i posted this thread u'd respond! u know, i just bought the box set to 4,5,6. it had the documentary behind the making of them. i couldn't believe they all thought a new hope would be a flop! then lucas invested everything he made from the first one and borrowed like 10,000,000 to make the second. they were out of money and needed more when they were partially through w/ it and the banks kept calling and hassling them wanting their money. then after empire, he made it all back and started his "home studio place". i can't believe they were actuall independant films. that's what made them so great tho. lucas is a real genius. i bet he probably had this thing dreamed up since high school, early college! modern day tolkien

Lucas did first dream up the star wars universe while attending college. As far as responding, rubix, I'm a dedicated fan. And so what if I'm a 34 year old law enforcement officer and mother of one. I'm eccentric and I love it! smile.gif

I'm a HUGE fan of Star Wars, but I think that a TV series would somehow take away from the saga. I don't know, I guess it would be okay, I'd definitely like to see where the story leads. I just wish I could live in the Star Wars galaxy and become a Jedi!!

You know Jedi is a recognized religion Bean! smile.gif

I think maybe a digi animated movie (following the books) made for TV would be cool though. ILM has the ability to do it, I'm sure. Hmmmm maybe I'll write a pitch to Lucasfilms biggrin.gif

me too bean. question: does anyone think that star wars has a hint of religion mixed in? i mean luke was prophesied in ancient times and sort of won over the empire much like the jewish messiah was believed to do. does anyone see any other similaities or am i just grasping at straws?

Lucas has talked extensively about it, Rubix. He drew predominately from the Eastern philosophies and martial arts...'force' read 'chi'

There's no doubt that he was influenced by Eastern philosophies. The Jedi are like Shaolin Fighting Monks, Hindu Yogi's, and Buddhist adepts rolled into one!! I guess there'd have to be some Ninja or Samurai thrown in there somewhere too, for the Sabre skills. Maybe some Qabala or Sufism, if you go even deeper into the Jedi philosophies...

Yep smile.gif I think 'Jedi' closely aligns with my own beliefs as well as I am a student of the Eastern philosophies. Ever seen the yogis fly, Bean? Amazing.

I agree, I share an affinity with the Jedi code. I've never actually seen a Yogi fly, but I've heard stories. I've also heard stories of some amazing feats performed by Buddhist monks. We shouldn't forget that there have been some equally amazing Christian, Muslem, and Jewish adepts as well...

i agree with the eastern philosophies similarity. tell me what u think of this. the word jew in german is yude and j's are pronounced as y's and in hebrew there are no vowels, see where i'm going with this? i don't know, i want 2 believe 2, if the hebrew word for jew was written w/ our alphabet, how would u spell it? i always thought that maybe in the back of my mind that jedi was sometype of anagram:headscrat

well the etymology of the word jew isnt Hebrew but most likely Greek and possibly ancient Egyptian. So basically, the Hebrew word for Jew, Yehudi(yehudim 'plural'), is equivalent to the Greek Ioudaios and English Jew. Y or Yodh in Hebrew is pronounced J in english.

The Bad: There will not be an ep VII, VIII or IX. sad.gif

The Ugly: One of the new shows will be completely computer animated.
