I read about this years ago. Never really knew what to make of it. I have heard there have been many UFO reports on the India and China boarder by soldiers and others, but don't know how true that is.
Would be a good place for a base, since it's a rather isolated area and the depth of a double thick crust plus granite in the area would give great protection. |

Could just be a hoax to attract tourism. China did the same thing with their various stories of sea serpents. At the very least, no evidence of something so extraordinary as an underground alien base, no real reason to believe one exists.

I think we can agree, true or false, the story will help their tourism.

I don't think I would like to go to a place that is between two armed armies that don't care for each other for a vacation. They both want that land for themselves. Can you say crossfire?
Sounds more like a vacation spot for Mercenaries than the average tourist. |

Crossfire? I had no idea the Chinese and Indian nations were in open conflict with each other at their borders...

Chinese and Indian nations were in open conflict ... They aren't, and their geo-political differences are stable, They were unstable when Great Britain had made a colony out of India (lmho) and for a time there-after.
Here is an interesting excerpt from Anil K Joseph in Beijing [March 28, 2006 22:30] “Indo-China Ties at New High” Recalling the 'Hindi-Chini bhai-bhai' era, Li noted that the two countries fostered a friendly bond and co-invented the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence (Panchsheel). "In modern times, China and India have shown understanding and support to each other in their struggle for national independence. "Establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India in 1950 opened up a new chapter in Sino-India relations. Over the past 56 years, through the joint efforts of both sides, China-India relationship has continued to become more mature," he noted. ... peace and love~rore |

Bad spot to have a base at, because India and China have always had tense diplomatic relations since the late 1950's...

India and Pakistan have been fighting over Kashmir for years. The Hindu Kush or the karakoram are not places for the average tourist....and if there is even a base this would definately be the place to have....that area makes Grooms Dry Lake look like down town....LOL

Here is an interesting excerpt from World Tibet Network News-13 Jan 2002. In November 1951, at the presentation of the credentials of the first Pakistani ambassador to Beijing, Mao spoke of the 'long friendship between the two countries' and the 'common wishes for lasting peace in Asia and the world'. Though at that time the 'long friendship' was only four years old, today it has become 'deeper than the oceans and higher than the mountains', as was reiterated several times by the Chinese leadership during General Musharraf's two recent visits to China... peace and love~rore So the two wars China and India fought during the 50's and 60's never happened? |

I hardly think that these UFOs reported by Indian and Chinese soldiers are used for tourism. A tourist wouldnt even get anywhere near these areas. It is an extremely sensitive area. Hundreds of thousands of troops from both sides face each other. Tibet, Aksai Sin, Ladakh, Nepal and Arunachal Pradesh are a stones throw away. All areas highly contested by both sides. Conflict is rare but it has happened. In 62 China launched an unexpected attack and rattled India. However in the 90s India returned the favour by slaughtering hundreds of Chinese soldiers. China in return started to fund, train and provide nuclear weapons to Pakistan. There are a lot of secret forward bases with nuclear missiles and state of the art Sukhois on patrol on both sides.

Yes, they did happen. Read about the 62 war between India and China. And the 90s border conflict. These two giants are rising fast and will eventually have to compete for land, influence and resources.
As Eric Margolis said in his book " War on Top of the World" When these two meet the earth will shake. |

Well, Mao fought because... well because he was Mao.
And it's like Forever said, those two nations are rise giants, and I'm sure see each other as potential enemies when it come to influence in Southern and Eastern Asia... |

The area is not exactly snow, rock and ice. The areas have vast amounts of untapped oil and minerals that both countries will need to power economic growth. The IA attempts to dislodge all PLA denies the Chinese the ability to link up with the Pakistanis further North and virtually overlook all of india. It also denies the Chinese the ability to march on Nepal and annex it like they did with Tibet.

There were no open declarations of war. Many skirmishes due to Great Britain drawing up an imaginary boundary between China and India prior to 1950 which took away China’s natural borders. Nehru, India’s PM at the time, took the Party Line of GB and caused a lot of problems which exist to this day. Declarations of War? No
And yea, the area in Q is a bunch of crummy parcels of land. Makes me wonder what the real reason for the boundary change is. Uranium, oil gold??? lol peace and love~rore |

Or maybe the border disputes arose over the alleged discovery of an ET base that's supposed to be there???

(kiku;275514) Talk about a subject shift. It's not quite a subject switch if you can believe neither of these two countries have taken this territory because the aliens asked them not to.
Years ago I read an article that one or both sides had a deal of some type with the aliens. As long as they didn't try to claim this area between the two countries the aliens would help them in certain ways. Now it was just a story and no way to verify it, but it kind of blends the subjects of UFO bases and conflicts between the two countries. India and China have advanced fairly fast over the recent years. Thought is was a strange but interesting read at the time. Still do. But you would think with all the tension between them they would have fought for that land by now. I've wondered why they haven't. Could it be? :ship:  |
