If there's one thing a Kentuckian knows..its that you cant predict the weather. It seems that we have more than our share of freak weather! For example, the Ice Storm of a couple years back. Now last night's flooding. It was a long, hard night and I was in and out of home..blocking roads, helping motorists, helping people in their homes..and once more I am proud of my community's ability to come together and help one another in times of need! As of now, we've had four known fatalities and extensive flood damage.

Skep...I hope you and your's did ok through the night.

We needed rain 22, I was sorry to see what happened West of us, but we were in desperate need of rain here in the Far East part of the state. I do believe though, after the past two relatively dry winters, we are going to have a very wet one now.

My mom's church is already gathering money to help everyone in your part of the state. Nothing but the best for you and your's as well.

I didnt quite remember where abouts you lived, Skep..I was thinking maybe you resided down around somerset but you're further east. I'm glad you'll missed the brunt of it. Thank your Mom in advance. Kentuckians are amazing people, arent they?

well so far I've been a part of:

the Storm of the Century 1993
the Ice Storm of 2003
and I guess the Flash Flood of 2006

I know it was bad in London and Middlesboro area...

If you read the Lexington Herald, they had a story about a town, that was being moved because of flooding, called Martin last week I believe. Martin was my home for almost 12 years. I've seen water come in the house that I lived in. I know all to well about what the Fall and Spring floods can do here, and just think, we at least have the reservoirs to stem some of it, before they were finished, people lost everything on a regular basis...

yeah this just came so swift...I'm thinking more rain was dumped in Lexington in an hour than ever in its history...the hardest hit, it seems, were towns and areas not prone to more than minimal creek and riverbed overflow.

Lexington is such a piece from a major river two, so yeah, I can see how it came as a shock...

And you know...its not over yet...flash flood warnings still in effect...I'm off duty but am on call..it might be a long day after a long night. God I hope not...there is only so long I can go before my meds cease in their effectiveness and I become more of a liablity than a help...
