One, I'm a registered organ doner, and two, once I'm dead, they can do what they wish with my remains.

I asked my mother, a devout Christian, once what she thought about organ transplants after one is dead, she said, "It doesn't matter, once your dead, your body is just an empty shell." I agree...

yes i totally support organ and blood donation - the bits that got to me were the fact that they harvest organs whilst the prisoners are still alive, and also without any consent.

this...."The prisoners on death row have done many bad things and before they die they give their organs as a present to society."......sent a chill thru me. i would hardly call having their organs ripped out of them while alive, a present to society.

and it makes me wonder, if this "meat trade" is so lucrative, did those prisoners really do such bad things to warrant death row in the first place?

What they did may not have been necessarily really bad but the rules are different in China. Crimes are treated much more severely there than here (Here being the NATO countries, excluding the states in the US where capital punishment is still in effect). (On a side note, I support the death penalty but only in the most severe of crimes, murder, rape, and similar)

And I think that the prisoners giving their organs to society means that they sign the adequate papers before their execution, not that they are harvested before they are killed.
