i think the cheapest way to doit i'm not sure if it's the right way is to take an advert in your local newspaper something like i John Smith wish to be known as whatever your new name is other than that i would suggest you ask your local Citizens Advice office i've know idea how much it costs i'm sure if i'm wrong someone may have some better advice BTW i new a guy who changed his name to Eddie Maiden he was a huge Iron Maiden fan named himself after their mascot Eddie The Ed

No. But I do remember a few years back when I went psycho I wanted to change my name to Arienette Omega or something, I thought that by having an A O name like Alpha Omega it'd bring you closer to God. Yea. :headscrat

You have to do it through the court system. it isn't a matter of cost (unless you bribe), they will only grant a change if there is a real need.

Generally, but not in places like Los Angeles, where it's relatively easier to change your name. |

Even if you change your name, you have to make a public announcement of it in your local paper (The city you live in and surrounding areas. You might think "Big deal" but it is a big deal, because there are people who make a living out of reading this announcements and will keep tabs on you and place you in a databank of other people who change their names.. Why do you want to change your name anyways?

I would never change my last name because I would feel like I was living a lie. Just because you have a piece of paper that says now you are so and so, doesn't make it any different IMO. Plus when ever someone would say for instance "hey chris!" and i changed my name to tim or something i would look and have to say my name is tim now sry. just my thoughts though.
