Unfortuantly there isn't much that you can do to get a broken IE to work because of its closed nature. Also the best way to verify that internet connection is working (just because windows says it is, doesn't mean it is) and the TCP processes are working is by using another browser.

IE is a real bitch sometimes, like right now, Its been taken over by a virus and slows my comp.
Try redownloading it, or getting an updated verson.

HI Seth, it's internet explorer 7
probably best to take it out and start over?.. will that loose all my favourites.. well im not the only one who uses this pc so everyone would.. before I take it out I'd have to find a way so save them all preferably not by copy pasting every address.. does that make sense?. sorry for not getting back soon either .. painting alot today but I very much appreciate the assistance

right now it's norton.. biggest waste of money ever.. it slows the pc down and seems to have so many little quirks and irritations to have to deal with.. i find it very frustrating.. however it does do its job.. so until it runs out of my subscription ill stick with it.. but then back to McAfee.

yes try either repair or just remove it and reinstall.

IMO norton sucks same for mc crappy.

I like AVG Antivirus myself.

If you are using the latest windows /Explorer it has an in-built firewall..disable it....!!!!

As for going slow, today more and more web sites are using what is called "information scripts"...what they do is as you click a link and the page is loading, instead of loading text then the images, it has a script that will slow your comp down as it searchers your computer for certain things in the top script.

Such as yopur country-browser-date and time etc...these slow down the comp big time and in the latest 8.1 netscape I use it pops up a window telling me do I want to disable the script and also tells me that my comp wil slow down of I allow the script to run.

its just that its looking at your browser-operating system before it will load any test or images...if yoiur firewall is set to stop all pop ups that can slow the page or in some cases not load anything...

I notice that the latest netscape has a built in pop up blocker that is actually blocking the entre internet and I have to click the page twice, the new security is the problem Id say with your comp...DIsable the firewall and use the Comps firewall instead...
