Who is a puter wiz here? I don't know much about OS systems or coding or anything.

I was told that MS Vista was going to actually be decent because it doesnt use a bios? Im not really sure what that is other then it seems to start up the OS. But if thats not true then ignore that statement. But if it is true, then it makes it harder to write virus for it?

Is anyone going to use it when it comes out?

Vista will be just as vulnerable as XP was because from all of the reviews microsoft has yet to correct the multitude of permission problems. BIOS (basic input/output system) is nescesary for the computer to boot up, if Vista replaces it then run as fast as you can away from it, BIOS is firmware, if you screw it up you can't boot your computer. I'm pretty sure that Vista doesn't do that though. Anyways viruses aren't written for BIOS's (you would have to write a seperate one for each vendor's BIOS) they are only written for horrid operating systems.

Nothing, unless they scrap all of the previous code and redo everything over as POSIX compliant. But of course they did the opposite and scrapped the BSD TCP/IP stack which was the only POSIX complaint part of the system.

I will not be getting this anytime soon. I will stay with XP until I have to get vista to make software run.
