What will we do when the end comes? If there is an ice age how will we survive? If there is a neuclear war what will the survivors do? For some reason the end haunts my mind, my mind tells me it will be coming soon and I cant stop thinking about it. We dont have the technology to go to another planet to survive, and even if we did its likely the majority of us would die anyways because of unknown diseases and such. Can anybody else out there feel it? I dont exactly know what the feeling is but I think about the end and it feels like it will come soon. So anybody else think its coming soon?

People have been "feeling it coming” for the past few thousand years. What a horrible curse it must be to feel such a evil and morbid fantasy. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Don’t fear, it will paralyse you.

Dear pilot_guy,

No, it's only you, you're the looney bird, you're the weird one! Now go out and get drunk and forget about your crazy fears!

This is what I would say if I wanted to deceive you. I have too much respect for your innate intelligence to lie to you. What you are feeling is normal and natural. Be at peace with your feelings and belief. Learn how to control your thoughts by controlling your breath.

There is a story told by the girlfriend of Serpico, in the movie, of an evil witch who poisoned the village well-water. All but the King drank the water and became deranged. The King detected their insanity and refused to drink from the well whereupon the villagers turned on the King because they believed he was the insane one!

From what I discern from your post you are becoming 'aware' and it is distressing to you. Do you not realize, according to a newpaper article I once clipped, that 'total awareness results in clinical depression?'

Why don't you do what most others are doing and become the master of your own self-deception and drown yourself in the waters of denial? Go out, get drunk, laugh, have a good time. Then you can go home, sleep it off and go about your business as if nothing bad is happening or going to happen.

Forget all about the nonsense you have been reading about on this and other websites. Forget the trends you have seen in history, the news reports, the pundits, the prophets, the prognosticators etc. What good will any of that knowledge do you, except to give you anguish, distress and ulcers before your eventual demise during the coming Apocalypse?

But, if you want to be honest with yourself and your feelings; own up to the sense of reality your knowledge gives you, then you must be willing to surrender to the certainty of the transitory nature of life and determine that you will make the best of what time remains.

What if you went to the doctor and he told you that you had a terminal illness and had only five painfree years left to live? How would you react? Would you try to fight it, deny it, worry about it? Or would you accept the knowledge and seek to do all those things you always wanted to do before you died. We still have time.

Who knows when their life will end? Should we not live each day as if it were our last? When we are dwelling on the future or past are we not wasting the only thing that really exists, the present here and now?

It may help if you try to realize, and researching this subject will help, that, although dying is real, death is not. Death is merely a door and those who have passed through that door, in the form of near death experiences, have returned to tell the joyous news of what lies beyond!

The experience usually results in a changed/improved life for the experiencer including a total lack of the fear of death. Some have stated that they are actually looking forward to it!

In conclusion, pilot_guy, I know what you're feeling, I can sympathize with you. We can only do the best we know how and recognize the fact that knowledge is the key to overcoming our fears. I wish you peace.

well i hope it comes soon - i think the anguish is most definately in the anticipation -when actually knee deep in Armageddon, ones mind may shift from mental discomfort to that of physical discomfort and in doing so the body may actually improve for a time as the mind loosens its vise grip on the body and hope of rescue from a higher power is all thats left.

Geepers, relax will you? There is no Ice Age coming. Break out your saddles as it is going to get hotter.

If doom and gloom are on your mind, you might want to get involved in something to take your mind off of it. Not enough activity outside the skull can get the activity inside in a roar. All of that roar is quite out of touch with the real world.

The conditions for a chilly climate are not here unless you outright want one. I suggest you increase the amount of activity outside your skull at a distance greater than 50 feet. That should clear it up quickly.

I agree. Definition of FEAR - FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.

There is a little more to the definition of Fear.

Fear Definition: The belief that a dangerous condition exists and nothing can be done directly to the condition successfully to stop it. It includes the unwillingness and attempted avoidance of any perception with that condition in the hope that, -sense nothing successful can be done to it- complete avoidance will prevent you from falling pray. This avoidance is a last ditch hope.

The "FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL." comes only from the fact that a person is not looking and so can not see. As he is unwilling to perceive the condition, he is happy to substitute it with something else and take that for the real thing.

And just for note on the Star Wars darkside. Fear is not the path to the darkside, the path to the darkside started before ever feeling fear. So fear is just a symptom, not the cause. It is a flag that something else has come before.

I thought I felt it coming ... but it was just a bit of indigestion.

No really, your post reminded me of a good friend of mine who told me that for decades her father was constantly predicting the imminent end of the world: only to become depressed when the date passed uneventfully.

I personally thought the world was going to end in 1997. So apparently did a bunch of other people. I don't think it happened though.

Here's how I think of the end. I think of it as kind of like the Death card in Tarot. Unlike the movies, the Death card almost never (in fact, never in my personal experience) means that someone is going to die. It represents change. This is like something that the philosopher Seneca said, which later made its way into the lyrics of a song: Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

The world is ending every day, but we just don't notice because another world begins.
