I've just been reading about Nostradamus. V. interesting! What are your thoughts on his predictions and how credible are they?

Yeah he said one day there would be fire over the city of mountains.

Orson Wells said that in a movie about Nostradamus.

Without googling it to make sure I am not talking out of my a$$, I have heard that some people have interpreted that there will be a huge world war, where two of the biggest ex-rival countries (presumably Russia and America) will unite to fight against a third, new and even more powerful enemy.

I'll research and get back to you.

edit: Just found out I stayed in Montpellier (for 2 weeks) where Nostradamus went to a medical faculty lol

edit2: Well, after a little research, I found out modern interpretations that do state it was something to that effect. Most of them seem to think it is the Islamic extremists that will be the great enemy. One in particular called both Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein the 'Antichrist', and that they will lead the war. Nothing was said about Hussein being 6 feet under, however.

Other more extreme views are that the 'new enemy' are, of course, invading aliens.

Well, if thats true, its most likely to happen seeing as over half of his predictions have already come true...the anticipation of full scale global war is daunting...

but...the question remains: who is the powerful enemy?

north korea? the middle east? china?

Or they might join together, North Korea, Chine, and the Middle East, you never know. I hope that China doesn't attack te US, they have way more people than us.

Nostradamus also predicted the end of the civilised world and the fall of the church around this time too.

He mentioned something about this happening when the 'Black Pope' came into power, and apparantly the new pope's name means Black Forrest or Black Olive or something in German - will have to Google...

I believe both China and North Korea have little more ambition than to feed themelves and not be bullied (ie. get nuclear weapons as a fist they can shake at the rest of the world).

The Middle East is another matter. It could be not just the Middle East, but a part of the extremist Islams that are spread all over the world (and I do say extremist. I know that 99.9% of Muslims that have immigrated only wish to seek a good peaceful life away from such extreme views).

Aliens? ... well, nothing to comment on here.

If my Maths is on the ball, Americans are outnumbered 4 to 1 by the Chinese.

Your theory of an 'asian merge' is interesting Mr. E. I guess it would make sense.

China have the people and money.

North Korea have the Nukes.

And the Middle East have a valid reason to rumble with the US anyway...

Bingo

Nice info Liselle...

The fall of the church looks set IMO soon anyway...
Religion is losing it's value IMHO.

Well it's been what? around 2 years since the suspected 'black pope' has been in power...seems overdue...

New York gets bombed by a biological weapon, so they don't really get off that easily, either. But better than others.

Timeline: I am not sure, but it was supposed to start something like 57 years after WWII, which was 2002 ?

The 'Black Pope' comes from a collection of paintings that some claim are those of Nostradamus. One of them has a supposed depiction of an attack on the World Trade Center. Can someone explain my confusion? All I see is an eel (with human traits) rising out of the water. Why is the 'black pope' connected to this?

Yeah, man. He used the word 'spooky' way too many times.

Well I'm confused. I looked here.
The paintings and references seem to point at a snake-like (why eel?) being with a human head.
