Sometimes when i'm trying to sleep i end up in a kind of half awake and half asleep state and then all of a sudden it feels like something is pushing on my stomach and I take in a deep breath and snap out of the state, almost as if my soul is partly out of my body and then it gets sucked back in. Its the best way I can explain it. So im wondering if im the only one getting this or if anyone else does too:confused: . Thanks guys I appreciate your replies.

You might want to get checked out for sleep apnea. I don't know much about it, but it's a disorder where you stop breathing while you're sleeping. Or, it could be some kind of hypnogogic (or whatever the hell that word is) hallucination, much like in that transition stage where you sometimes can get woken up by perceived loud BANGS!

Alot of people have weird experiences when they are asleep or waking up and alot of people say its just sleep paralysis but I am not so sure that it is that sometimes.

I have sleep apnea and you are describing exactly what happens to me. I dont feel like my soul is partly out of my body and gets sucked back in, but other than that - sleep apnea. |

That's funny you post something like that because I happen to have that experience a lot. I've had a lot of astral travel dreams my whole life. Recently I began to experience the half awake half asleep thing when you basically go into a dream state/ astral mode lol. When this happens it feels like something is gripping me from either the stomach or back. Honestly I have no idea what it is lol. But then it got even more intense when I started having dreams about what caused it. In my last dream I was actually able to open up my eyes in and see the thing that was touching me. It did not look like a grey or anything. I think it was a spirit or some type of demon, who knows. But the second I opened my eyes and saw it I opened my eyes in real life and woke up. It felt really weird because it was like opening my eyes twice in a row..
strange huh? Peace~! |

Yes, I get this a lot. I've got trouble sleeping, and I usually wake up with a start and a sharp inhalation of breath only seconds after I doze off. The feeling can be described exactly like you described it.

No, I have never experienced this myself, so my opinion may be a bit off but... this sounds like it could be the beginning of astral projection? I don't completely believe in that myself, but who knows. From what I've read/heard, it takes a lot effort and "training" to actually accomplish, but accidental occurrences are always possible...
Or, perhaps, it's simply a breathing disorder. lol -------------------- You can have my isolation, You can have the hate that it brings... ![]() |

I had an out of body experience. I was sleeping on my back then suddenly it was like my spirit got pushed out of my body (thru the bed) going down a rocky reddish tunnel. A demon was on my chest pushing me down and down and down...:headscrat |
