I had typed up most of my ghost encounters for one of Ben’s websites, and I figured I would post them for others to read as well. There’s enough to occupy you from boredom for a while. smile.gif

A little introduction information: the majority of these occurred at my father’s house, which I used to live in back when him and my mother were still married. The house had been “haunted” for many years even before we moved out, and aside from the little things like footsteps, feeling a presence, hearing odd noises, these are a few main events that have happened there:

1.) One night my friend I and were bored and decided to use my Ouija board. We got it out, lit some candles, and once we felt we had our energy focused enough, I asked if there were any spirits present. Nothing happened for about ten seconds, then all of a sudden my dog sat up and started growling. He went over to a corner of the room, and continued to bark and snarl while looking higher up on the wall (far up enough to be the normal height of a man). I got up to go calm him down, and in doing so I broke the concentration on the board. The second I got up, my dog fell silent, and casually went back to his bed. My friend and I assumed we had called upon an evil or not-so-good spirit, so we put the Ouija board away in order to avoid any problems. No, we have not touched it since.

2.) I had fallen asleep with my bedroom door wide open. I don’t even know the last time I had done this. I am very paranoid, and every time someone so much as walks past my door I will awake to see what’s going on. That night I had been fast asleep, and I awoke to the sense of someone near or at my door. I sat up in bed, and, through my half-asleep haze, I saw a white, tall, smoke-like figure closing my door. I must not have felt threatened at all, for I immediately fell back and went right back to sleep. The next morning I woke up thinking it had been a dream, but then I noticed my door. As I said, it had been wide open when I first went to sleep, but when I woke up it was about half-way closed, exactly at the spot where the figure had been at closing it when I had awoke. Perhaps it stopped what it was doing when I got up and left? Either way, I went into the living room and asked everyone if they had closed my door last night, and everyone said no. Given the fact that I had not sensed any threat from the figure/being and that it had simply been closing my door, I figured it was our nice ghost. I sense him around here and there but he does nothing to bother me. We actually know who he is, too. My mother’s friend had owned the house before her and my father, and her brother had died there several years before they moved. He had lived and died in the attic above the living room, and I often feel someone watching me from up there, but it has never creeped me out or anything of the sort. We had been told that he was a very nice, kind man, which is probably why his ghost has never given us any trouble.

3.) One morning I had been laying in bed, listening to my headphones. My door was firmly shut, when all of a sudden is burst open so hard that it hit the wall and left a huge hole from the doorknob. I automatically figured it was just my little brother being a brat, so I jumped up to go yell at him. When I got into the kitchen, I found a note from my mother saying that her, my father, and my brother had all gone out and would be back a few hours later. I checked outside for her car just incase they hadn’t left yet, but, alas, I was alone in the house. Well… with the living, anyway. I figured the ghost wanted me out of the room for whatever reason, so I didn’t bother going back in there until everyone else had returned home.

4.) I was up real late reading, and out of the blue my lamp turned off. I thought nothing of it, and turned it back on. It happened again. Every time I would turn it back on, a few seconds (or sometimes minutes) later it would turn off again. I had first been annoyed and thought it was simply an electrical problem or something wrong with the lamp itself, but after a while I could sense something standing near the lamp. After about a half an hour of this I asked, “Will you please stop and go away?” as nicely as I could, and it stopped after that. Never happened again after that night either.

5.) Last year, my father had been out of town for the night and I had been alone in the house. A little after five in the morning I woke up to the sound of someone walking in the hallway (the house is really old and the hallway creeks like holy hell). I called out to my father, thinking it was him, and the sound stopped. I felt creeped out, so I chose to not press it further and hoped whoever it was would go away. After about twenty minutes of my silence, the walking started up again. It was back and forth non-stop for a few minutes. I was irritated about being kept from sleep, so I yelled, “KNOCK IT OFF, ASSHOLE!” As soon as I did (and yes, I regretted my outburst the second it shot from my mouth), the walking turned into loud, obnoxious stomping. This continued for several hours until I was used to it enough to actually get back to sleep.

6.) I was sleeping, and sometime during the night I was woken up by my stereo being turned on. I grabbed the remote and turned it off. Of course, it turned back on. I was too tired to care, so I let it stay on, no matter what the reason. But then the volume was turned up almost full-blast, and the channel’s began switching. I asked whoever it was to please stop so I could get some sleep, but it did not. I kept asking and trying to reason with it, and after a while the radio shut off. This particular one seems to like to disturb my sleep…

7.) The same friend that shared my incident with the Ouija board was often around when little things happened. We would be watching TV and it would turn on and off for a few minutes, or an object would be seen flying across the room. She also heard the repeated footsteps in the hallway several times when she spent the night, and was always able to sense something in the room or the nice ghost watching us from the attic. At first I didn’t even tell her we had ghosts, so every time she brought something up I knew it was real because there was no possible way she could have just been saying it to go along with something I had said…. It seemed real enough to both of us.

8.) This one didn’t happen to me. This account is from my mother, and I know she is not one to make up silly stories such as these. She told me that one night, back when she still lived at the house, she was in the kitchen, which is very close to the front door, but you can’t actually see it due to a wall inbetween. She said that she heard the front door open, and started talking to my father, assuming it was him. After getting no response, she walked over to the door and saw it closed. The door makes a very loud and distinct sound; you know if it opened. She swore it had, but there was nobody there.

9.) After my parent’s divorce my mother kept the house for few months before my father bought it from her, and he rented out a different house. EVERY SINGLE TIME that I spent the night there, I would be in my room and hear a little jingling sound, as if from a small bell. The first couple times I made up flimsy excuses for it, but then I noticed it would stop every time someone else entered the room, and start back up again after they left. There were also many times when I could hear it moving around the room, sometimes right next to my bed as I tried to sleep. Years after he sold the house I told my mother about this and she freaked and said that she had heard it a couple times too when she was alone in the room. Once again, I had not felt threatened by whatever this was, only annoyed.

I have always wondered if there was something about me or my father that draws spirits to us for whatever reason… But, given the fact that I have had barely any more incidences with spirits other than at his house, I would like to think that it is perhaps him they are drawn to. I may have had something to do with that back when I was younger, due to the rumor that spirits are more often drawn to adolescence rather than adults. However, I have not had an encounter with anything in over a year (and the last time was at his house), so it must have been my father.

10.) I was at my grandma’s house, which I had always suspected might have had a ghost. Just little things, like lights and radios being turned on for no apparent reason, and sensing something weird here and there. I had been up real late in her living room watching TV, when the room I always thought had something in it opened. A few seconds later I felt something enter the room, and then the cushion on the couch next to me indented, as if someone had sat down. Although a bit bothered, I did not feel threatened, so I ignored it. I was watching a show on Discovery Channel about haunted houses, and decided to change the channel. Every single channel I flipped through was nothing but static, but when I got back to the Discovery Channel is came in just fine. I decided to leave it. After the show ended, I felt the presence leave the room, and a few seconds later the open door closed again. My uncle and his wife now live in that room (don’t ask) and both of them have had a few stories about odd things that go on in there.

11.) Back in my old apartment, I rarely felt any presences. On occasion I did, and when it happened I felt very uneasy and threatened by them. One night I sensed something, but tried my best to ignore it. I went to the bathroom, and out of nowhere the toilet paper roll began spinning, and then I heard a big bang on the shower door. I ran back into my room and slept with all of the lights on that night. I still felt something in there until I fell asleep, but nothing else occurred.

I know have a few more stories, but I cannot remember them at the moment…
