Has anybody ever thought about maybe our land is slowly, slowly sinking into the earth's water? What if it happened a couple of thousand years from now. Sure it's nothing to worry about but it's interesting to think about. What if all of a sudden God gave up on us and we all sank into the ocean much like Atlantis did thousands of years ago. And til this day, people are swimming through Atlantis as if it were some sort of attraction. Well what if it happened? Would God put new land on Earth and have our world start all over again back when Dinosaurs were around? This keeps me thinking for hours.
What do all of you think? |

Since the main islands aren't floating ones. (America, England, ect), We cant 'sink'
The oceans just like a giant ditch filled with water; It take an external force to cause it to change shape. So yeah, maybe we could be, Volcanoes, Wind erosion, Tidal erosion. All that stuff. And waters could rise too, Scary, low lying countries would be the first to go under and Ice caps melting will probably cause that. |

What do all of you think? yeti....I think the sea levels will be higher in 1,000 years. The natural warming will continue....remember when the dinosaurs lived over 65 million years ago....there were no ice caps....and there were inlands sea across North America. Besides uplifts will always occur.....out in Yoho National park on Mt. Stephens there is a famous fossil deposit from a deep ocean off a coral reef. I don't think you need to worry about the continents will sink |

its something to do with density in the earths crust, 'land' is less dense than ocean floor, so will always be higher, the only way we can sink is if there is enough water to flood everything, we will need a few seriously sized ice asteroids for that, plus antarctica/arctic to melt. but hey it would be funny to live like they did in 'waterworld!'

I was thinking if the Giant Volcano of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming was to pop.. it could take out much of north western US and creating a new lake or a large bay 1/3rd the size of the continental US.

![]() trog...33% of the US would be almost certainly be destroyed the caldera could be as big as 100 miles....but the biggest impact would be the ash fall out.....a new inland sea will likely only occurr when the ice caps are all melted again |

New Oreleans is below sea level now. It's still sinking. Maybe that's what happened to Atlantis, it was a giant New Oreleans, and a hurricane hit it, and then it just collapsed, or, "sank".

Ah i see what you mean Trog. yeah that would suck. the worlds oceans would surely drop significantly to fill this new lake if it were to happen. yeah thats about one of the worst natural disasters bar an asteroid that could possibly happen
