Yes, I just saw the movie "The Hunt." And saw this site in the filming of the movie. But they didn't explain shit about what the thread was about, just said that it created a lot of buzz because of it. Anyways, if someone could direct me to it or a copy of it or something, I would like to read it. Thanks.

Haha... The Classic of all classic threads if you are truley wanting to put yourself through reading it all... It was a sort of a fun thread at the time, though puzzling and daunting as well, but will more than likely sound surreal and out of context now...

Thanks I found it now. Just curious, has anyone seen The Hunt? I found it to be a pretty good movie and the story was definitely interesting. I was just curious, hoax or not, did anyone ever manage to watch the videos that were on that one site huntvideos or whatever before it was taken down and an error 404 message put up?
I read several pages of that thread and found it interesting, but my personal theory is that it was buzz created by the filmmakers of The Hunt based upon some stories they heard that they decided to combine for a movie. |

Harrr.... Fen Star... it was the most incredible thread to be involved with at the time... trying to figure out what was real and what wasn't real.. that is, if any of it was... It was like a good 'mind' game in the way the bloke presented himself... rivetting and the storyline seemed 'authentic' enough... many of us did a lot of research at the time and learnt a lot about using research skills...
But it wasn't til some time later when pie_in_the_sky brought that thread up again as being one of the best ever threads in a thread we have in Links for such threads... (a mouthful) that caused UFOhunter (a Mod at the time) and a few of us others to look into it again and he found updates on the net which weren't available when the thread was 'happening'... And then we discuss it here in the second link I gave because the original thead was long locked... My Parents Were Kidnapped - Discussion http://www.alien-ufos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10976 bigF'Ndeal: Yup, bigF'Ndeal... that appears to be so but at the time the thread was started no information was available that this was so.... but we did suspect (well into the thread though) that this might be one possible senario... I read several pages of that thread and found it interesting, but my personal theory is that it was buzz created by the filmmakers of The Hunt based upon some stories they heard that they decided to combine for a movie. I vaguely remember seeing the shorts of the film in making at the time when we opened up that Discussion thread (link posted above)... By then the movie clips had became available and information was posted on the net about the making of the film... I never realised though that the AU thread featured in the credits... ? Will have to 'investigate' that to see if it really is so... that is... if I ever get back any of the energy I had at the time... AU was never the same for me after what we went through... :goblin: Dingo . |

The Hunt was released in 2006 and is readily available to rent at local video stores as well as Netflix I assume. The part that shows AU is during the making of titled The Hunt Chronicles. The director says initially myself and one of the producers I believe created a lot of buzz with a thread on the Alien UFOs website and he mentioned that the thread is still being discussed today he thinks. It shows the Alien UFOs heading as well.
Also, I highly recommend the movie The Hunt as well. It won some awards and it's easy to see why. Check it out. |

C'mon! Are we really that transparently gullible?
Point 1: bigF'Ndeal says: saw this site in the filming of the movie. But they didn't explain shit about what the thread was about, just said that it created a lot of buzz because of it
(emphasis added) Point 2: bigF'Ndeal says: my personal theory is that it was buzz created by the filmmakers of The Hunt
Point 3: bigF'Ndeal says: The part that shows AU is during the making of titled The Hunt Chronicles. The director says initially myself and one of the producers I believe created a lot of buzz with a thread on the Alien UFOs website
Okay, first 'deal says the thread created buzz, then he says his PERSONAL theory is that the filmmakers were the ones who hoaxed AU with the thread to promote the film, then he says the FILMMAKERS admitted in the 'making of' video that they hoaxed the AU with the thread. 'deal, how can it be your personal theory if the filmmakers already confirmed it? Second, I offer circumstantial exhibits: 'deal has exactly 3 posts, all here. 'deal joined 2 days ago, just for this thread apparently. 'deal first reminds of us the thread here, then very kindly plugs the movie: I found it to be a pretty good movie and the story was definitely interesting.
Then tries to check up to see how much of the filmmakers' hoax we bought into and checked up on: I was just curious, hoax or not, did anyone ever manage to watch the videos that were on that one site huntvideos or whatever before it was taken down and an error 404 message put up?
(This is important in deciding whether or not it's worth the time and money to do it next time) Then 'deal kindly tells us how to rent the video (and put money in the hoaxers' pockets): The Hunt was released in 2006 and is readily available to rent at local video stores as well as Netflix I assume.
'deal goes on to mention that THIS site is mentioned in the video (rent the video and SEE YOURSELVES! You're famous! Yea!) The part that shows AU is during the making of titled The Hunt Chronicles. The director says initially myself and one of the producers I believe created a lot of buzz with a thread on the Alien UFOs website and he mentioned that the thread is still being discussed today he thinks. It shows the Alien UFOs heading as well.
and ends with a final plug of the movie: Also, I highly recommend the movie The Hunt as well. It won some awards and it's easy to see why. Check it out.
Frankly speaking, bigF'Ndeal, Jacobsladder did a great job at guerrilla marketing. I loved that thread, hoax or not: it was really cool and interesting, and he played us like a pro. You know, I've heard that marketing firms will do stuff like this, pay people to go to parties and mention certain products or companies or movies, etc. I'm sure they pay people to visit chatrooms and message boards and do the word-of-mouth marketing (since marketing research shows we tend to put more value on what a 'person' says than on what a commercial says). Maybe I'm old and cynical, but I'm just going to come right out and say it: I'd bet good money that bigF'Ndeal is part of the team behind The Hunt, here to try to play us one more time by getting us to go rent the video just because of a two second mention of this site. If I'm wrong: hey, bigF'Ndeal, sorry for being a suspicious old fart. If I'm right: hey, bigF'Ndeal, go give Jacobsladder a raise or something, eh? -------------------- "A Wise Man looks at a grain of sand and sees the Universe...

Yes, I was thinking the same thing about the poster of this thread...
I agree, definitely a team member of the film makers. Trying to stir up some more attention for 'The Hunt' obviously... |

Sorry to dredge this up again, but I referenced this in another thread, so I wanted to bring it back so people could see. Here is one of my three favorite discussions ever, even though I wasn't here when the original went down. Read the original threads posted referenced by Dingo. This guy was a brilliant hoaxer.
