sd....yes it will happen again....check out something called the "Nemisis Affair" dealing with periodic extinctions....we may not be due for an extinction level event....but we are due for a catastrophic impact

There was a show on either The Learning Channel or Discovery--I can't remember which--anyway, they were talking about the possibility of landing a transponder on an asteroid to take orbital readings and also possibly use the transponder to nudge the asteroid.

According to Ed Lu in an article in the Discovery Channel website he theorizes that it would take 12 days of what he calls "gravitational tugging" to change its course.
