Did you know that three of the most major drugs in america, marijuana opium, and Cocaine were all made illegal in attempt to target a specific race? for marijuana it was the immigrating hispanics, for opium it was the chinese in California, and for cocaine it was Afro-Americans in the deep south. A good source of information on this would be the the history channel production Hooked: Illegal Drugs and How They Got That Way

obviously i won't dispute what you say cos i trust you have evidence to back it up, however, the problem with this world is we like to put labels on things, we like to sort things out into neat categories, and in my opinion, we won't progress very far like this,
drugs are a problem, what you say may be true but how does it help the problem, whoever they targeted is ireelevant, it doesn't matter what race they are targeted at, drugs are targeted at a social class, people take drugs to make their life more bearable, or because they are pressured into it and get addicted, remove the social reasons for drugs, and people will have no reason to take them, |

well its a problem because the drug laws begin to hurt one particular race more than anybody for example with drugs and afro-americans while afro-americans represent a minority of drug users in the uniteds they represent a majority of those imprisoned or punished for drug use. There is something wrong with that. Now that being said obviously one should not be using drugs like cocaine and opium (i refuse to include marijuana in that category) because we know that they are very destructive.

jamgo88, there are many reasons that people take drugs other than to 'escape'.

Yea, like I have saying for awhile. Its a drug drug world. I never grew up around any. Its hard for me to understand why people do this to themselves and bodies. I have seen this coming for years. There seams to be new drugs every year. And whats sick is I see so much on TV. And I see so many people who want a "quick fix" these days. I just read a story of a child who died from taking 3 DIFFERENT KINDS OF DRUGS. My mother in law died age 59 from taking about 10 kinds of drugs. It is being pushed on our children. There was a child who died from Tylenol.
Read this book or check it out. You may be shocked. Natural Cures "what they don't want you to know." http://www.naturalcures.com -------------------- live long and prosper

The natural cures book is pure and utter bullshit. He makes some entirely wrong claims (like the body being alkaline fights cancer), and is a scammer.

drug laws are stupid and racist. drugs are one of the most fundamental civil liberties issues of our time. the war over conciousness, and ones ability to alter it should be a personal choice in a free society, and if you make a retarded decision and end up strung out, you should have to deal wit the consequences. this reminds me of the differences in mandatory minimum sentencing for crack vs. powder coke, that they recently changed. that was a racially motivated discriminatory unfair law enforcement policy, from our present day, not in 1918 or whatever. also the waste of resources and the militirazation of the police are other signs of how stupid prohibition is. not to mention the inequality of minorities vs. whites in prison populations.

(rickpsfu;342079) and if you make a retarded decision and end up strung out, you should have to deal wit the consequences. Yes but it's not just that individual that has to deal with the consequences is it.....

all the negatives of drug habits result from prohibition. dangerous cuts and impurities, high black market prices, crimes like theft etc, organized criminals and violence, unregulated dosages and overdoses. none of these problems happen with tobacco and supposedly its more addictive than heroin. all the health risks are part of choosing to use drugs. we need education and decriminilization, its a social and health issue, not a crime related one. i have never seen one example of prohibition succeeding in stopping anything, correct me if i'm wrong. all prohibition does is get criminals involved because it creates lucrative profit motives and they are the ones willing to take the risk. drugs should all be treated like tobacco and alcohol.

Alcohol causes many problems not just for those doing the drinking.
