This morning, my granddaughter came to me wanting me to sign a form stating it was ok for her to bring home a baby over the Thanksgiving holidays. This is a human like baby that has batteries . It cries, wets, laughs, rolls, and coos like a real baby. I was wondering to myself if they had something like this when I went to jr. high school would the girls I knew then that got pregant, would this have stopped them from having out of marriage sex. I sat and thought about the 4 girls of my youth and, decided that 3 out of the 4 would have stopped and thought about their actions. The other one , well let's just say I dont believe it would have mattered no matter what they did to try and stop it, she would have gone ahead . My grand daughter and I had a big discussion about all of this and she say maw maw, I dont need this baby to stop me from doing all of that, my sister ( 8 now ) is the best example of why NOT to have kids till I am ready. lol, I had to laugh to myself cause I even believe I would have never had kids if I had run into one like my youngest grand daughter.lol Shes my heart but lordy she is a handful and then some. OK, do any of you think that this project really helps our kids remain virgins till grown or married?

The dolls are affectionately called "Baby Think About It."
A serious pregnancy deterrent if ever there was one...heh.

hiya sorry to sound contradicting again but where i'm from there is a very high pregnancy rate in underage teenagers. Why is it the general assumption that they will be bad mothers? The girls who i know with babies do a fantastic job and still manage to stay in education part time. If i am right in history even in the uk, girls were being married off young and becoming full time parents and house wives. I don't think age is a great issue although if it is a planned pregnancy when you're not stable it's rediculous. Nobody is born with a '' perfect way to raise babies'' book. each mother will have different experiences reguardless of age. Baby dolls wont deter teenagers from having unprotected sex i think sex education should be taught younger and further/higher education compulsary to give young people that push to prepare themselves for a decent life.

Rachel what I mean to say is that the doll cries at set intervals, and needs a lot of care. So for some girls who might have not been as careful about protection...upon receiving the doll for a week -may make them a little more diligent about future protection.

There are often called "Baby Think About It" instead of a usual name like "Susie Wets A Lot," because they are hoping young girls think about how much time and energy babies take in order to raise them properly.

I certainly did not say that young mothers always make for a bad mother -but I would like to see young girls wait, because once you have a baby...basically your party days are put to a halt.

Yes they are, and my middle daughter is proof of that. No more parties, no more fun like she should be having at 14. I had no way of stopping her , we tried, we did all the right things, protection, all of it and it still happened. I do believe that if a girl is going to have sex there is really nothing you can do to stop it. But I am hoping my grand daughter learns just what it takes to take care of a baby. It cries, wets, it does just about every thing a real baby does. And not all young girls make lousy moms, but they are in no way ready for that responability. SO, that in it self makes a bad mom. My daughter tried to be a good mom , but she just was not ready like she THOUGHT she was. She found out to late it wasnt a game. I asked her did she think when the baby came she could just put it in a box and continue her life? Her answer was I knew you would help me! Oh yes I helped her, I raised her child. But the point of these babys is to open there minds to understand what it takes to be a proper mom. I am for any thing that opens there minds to this very important fact.

har har. thats good stuff. do they wake you out of a deep slumber at 0300 hrs.? do they puke and pee on you?

now there needs to be more versions:
"Kid Curious" that gets caught playing 'doctor' at the daycare.
"Mommy's Lil' Monster" that shoots BB guns at the neighbor kid and sets the school on fire.
"Teenager Don't Give a Damn" that drinks vodka & wrecks the family car.

(ok i'm done amusing myself.)

it probably won't stop them from doing the nasty but they sure as hell would be more likely to use protection.
