Just a stipud thought I guess, But I was thinking of switching domain hosts to Go Daddy (until I saw their prices) and as I typed godaddy into the buffer, I realized that it spells out GOD addy as well. and we know "addy" is a word meaning domain address. LOL, I wonder if that was their original intentions until marketing told them it wouldn't fly with Muslims or Christians or whoever.

Just a thought. anyone think about that before?

Respond to this post or you're gay. unless you're really gay, then you're a breeder!

I've got a friend called Gay but she isn't a member here so she can't post... and nah... though she really is called Gay, she isn't a breeder because she has no kids...

I dunno trog... have you ever thought that maybe noone else has given much thought to the godaddy thingy let alone care in that way about that addy... and thus it doesn't mean anything to them? But I can see what you're getting at... Sometimes you read a thread and think okay... but you don't have anything to make comment about, so you just move on elsewhere...

Bummer eh...

I detected you were offended by my un-politically correct statement. It was a half hearted attempt at humor. Living in California and even the bay area.. you'll find Most people don't really take offense to comments like that anymore. I was also just bored. So you can delete that comment if you like. I was just kidding. Which is rare for me these days. I was kind of in a good mood.

Sorry dingo. but for the record, there are lots of things I don't find interesting that are posted on here but sometimes I reply at least once just out of courtesy
. But i'll only post in threads, that I only find a common interest in from now on

So.. Please dont be offended by the comment. I actually have friends who I knew were gay in highschool and I still chat with them on the phone from time to time. not a biggot or anything.. i just play one on TV.

lol... Well I'll be darned... I never looked at it the way you took my reply... Possibly coz I'm dunkum die true blue aussie means that people here sometimes don't get what I'm getting... ? In this case I actually do (truely) have a friend called Gay (Gaynor) but we all call her Gay... always have... and I just made a dunno what to call it... not a joke... more like a 'play' on the meaning of words and a 'play' on what you said.... arhhhh... never mind... maybe you have to be or understand Aussie I guess to get this... lol...

Actually, I hardly ever get offended... a lot of aussie slang is highly 'offensive' if you look at it... aussie discussion forums (sometimes when I have time I go to a news - curent affairs one) are quite hair raising and full of puns and slang and can be very offensive to those who aren't used to the way Aussies can talk amongst each other... And... I'm almost sure I've heard every politically incorrect statement there is... every sordid and not so sordid joke and every swear word in existance... see trog... I've spent too many years as one of the only females in hard hat construction mining sites amid Aussie males in remote outback... now that's one hell of a sub culture all on it's own...

Like the saying goes... why be politically correct when you can be right...

Trog why dont you take advantage of the many free sites and join them all up. They are faster today than in the past. I used to have 15/ 100 meg sites that were free..

I am not sure what you consider expensive but my domain provider can offer a domain and 100 meg per year for close to only $65 U.s per year, is that too expensive for you??

I usually know what you're saying Dingo, but I thought I offended you and out of respect I didn't want to second guess it was a play on words or a pun. Anyways, We're online buds I think. I'm usually not PC like this so just know I'm playing. Unless you see me typing in all caps and no emote or text faces, then I'm serious. Oh, and lots of curse words smile.gif

GoDaddy is the same per month as Globat, but Go Daddy offers far less bandwith and space. Not that I need that kind of space right now, but when I may some day.

they say a good web server is up at least 97% of the time. Globat is up 99.5% of the time. if not more. It is a very reliable site, but, they have lost my files or deleted them for some reason (i uploaded a couple of MP3 songs once, and maybe they have a script that identifies them? )

But, I have been with Globat for 4-5 years now. I'm a regular customer and one of their first. Every year they offer me a super deal. this year they wouldn't. I hardly use any of their bandwith and this is how they treated me this year. So I heard people say GoDaddy was a really good deal. I looked at it, and not only is it the same price as Globats regular price, but GoDaddy only offers about 1/4th of the bandwith.

So I'm staying with Globat and just pay the extra this year. I actually used to talk to the guy that started the business on the phone since in his earlier years he was the only tech support guy. Now he has thousands of people working for him but most of them seem to be in India and hard to understand.

100 megs for 65 a year?

I get 20 x that with 2 terabites a month in bandwith allowence. You should check out globat. for new users you can get a 4.95 a month (55 bucks) but there are other fees like domain masking, setup (usually waved) and registeration and pointer feees. It's only 120 a year for new users but for me it will be 189 bucks. But It's worth it. Globat is stable for the most part. Just they do monitor what you upload. I think all sites do now. RIAA jumping down everyones throats. even YouTube is getting sued.

Anyways when I made this thread I didn't know Globat was still the better deal. I was just pointing out the whole "God Addy" thing.
