This is far better than the first one. However, YouTube videos are so useless that it could plausibly be another jet. It is only worth scrutinizing the higher quality versions of this film footage, which appears in a documentary. |

The first one looks as faks as it gets, the second on is not too bad though. Shadow on the cloud was at least a bit harder to fake.

I agree. The first one is OBVIOUSLY a fake. It's been pasted into the video: nice work. Better than I can do ... but a paste up job for sure.
The second one, I agree, is better. Now, it appears to go straight down. However, it is NOT going straight down because the f16, the craft with the camera AND the object behind the f16 are all MOVING FORWARD. I think it's another jet descending. My guess: somebody took a video that shows two aircraft and left it unlabeled. Somebody else made a request to the military for stock footage of aircraft, saw this, asked: What is that object in the background? Somebody in charge of military video said: "I dunno. Nobody left any notes on this film." so the people who got the footage said: "A UFO!" Not really. My guess is that it's what Snopes.com would call "Real footage, inaccurate description." |

The only thing that makes me wonder about it being a second jet is that it does not seem to change its angle. It seems to remain pretty much horizontal all through the dive. In the following clip you can clearly see the angle of attack change as the jets move through there dive.

I would think another jet diving would surely show this effect? Pitch angle and angle of attack are not the same, but yes you would expect to see the pitch angle change in such an abrupt dive. This footage has been discussed before on this forum. If I can recall correctly, there were suggestions that the footage has been edited to show a flying saucer in the background. |

The second one probably shows insects. Again, the quality is so abysmal that you cannot really tell what they are. But they do appear out of focus, which indicates that they are close to the camera, and they are therefore very small, as they subtend much less of an angle than the distant plane. What are small, fly close to the ground and move erratically? Flying insects perhaps? |

My take: Ukraine Air Show vid shows birds. However, it wouldn't be out of the question for a bird to go through the intake would it?
The second vid: Andrew, bugs were my first thought as well, but if you look closely on the slowed down vid, there are multiple 'shadows' trailing the UFO. Also, there are a couple of points where the airplane is double-exposed. It's fake. The UFO was added later. Look around 00:32 for the double-exposure. I'm not going to say 100% it's fake: but I've faked a few videos for fun and double-exposures happen a lot if you're not careful with camera angles and timing. Yes, the footage is shot from a MIG (russian plane). He is taking footage of the F-16. |

i get a double ghosting image in all my vids if i dont deintelace them.. i would image that most people uploading clips would not be deinterlacing their vids cause all the video editing software ive tried they dont automaticaly deinterlace the video.. and its a pain when you do.. thats always been a big problem for me.. only ulead videostudio will do it using divx format. or using virtual dub. so seeing a ghosting image doesnt look nice but it can help to see if a vid has been messed with or not.. I did see a plane pass by an object today through binos.. see two of them.. those same high altitude ones. they are still showing up.. the pilot must have seen it.. passed right by it.. we need some pilots posting here.. they must be seeing loads... |

I'll retract the 'it's fake' statement then, and keep an open mind. Its a bug/fly darting around... ive seen the same thing many times.. Deinterlacing if ive got it right corrects the 2 fields that make up 1 frame. each frame is made of 2 images called fields
