Just wondering if anyone out there thinks it is possible that there are people working for the govt whose job is to debunk as much information possible going on these UFO websites.
I see a lot of intelligent posts on various websites who debunk even the obvious. |

Obvious in what regard? I've seen a lot of things that are OBVIOUSLY fake. I've seen a lot of things that LOOK real: but whose creators openly ADMIT they are fakes. I've also seen things where I honestly can't say for sure if it's fake or not.
What I haven't seen is something that made me say: Yes, absolutely, 100% THAT'S REAL. I haven't seen that. No. -------------------- "Behold, I come prepared with my mighty magical squeegee of TWOOF!"

What I mean is there are people who try to explain away videos of UFOs in which are obviously not made by man or using science to try to disprove the unknown in general.
Many govts are keeping alot of secrets so why wouldn't they, under an assumed name, try to contain as much info as they can on the net by misinformation, discrediting whistle blowers and making people's theories look childish and or like something out of a fairy tale. |

I see your point. Actually, I have no doubt that this occurs to a certain degree.
On the one hand, you may have government people who go onto 'hot topics' of any kind and essentially debunk everything. On the other hand, it would not surprise me if government agents go onto those same hot topics and pretend to be rabid supporters of every 'freak-of-the-week' hoax and conspiracy theory out there to ensure that 'normal' people (fence-sitters) will go in the opposite direction. They don't even have to provide evidence! All the government agent has to do is support a crazy theory and then say: prove me wrong. People will fall all over themselves providing evidence. For example: a government agent could go onto a 9/11 thread and say all kinds of ridiculous things: whatever the conspiracy of the week is. When 'fence sitters' debate it, the government agent could then say 'prove it', and those same fence sitters will sit there and make the government's case. Now a government agent could come along and say "I'm Mr. Black with the Super Secret Intelligence Agency, and I have proof that the government's official report is true" and people would say "8u11$41t!" On the other hand: Mr. Black pretends to be SecretX trying to 'uncover the truth', and spout the EXACT OPPOSITE! And what will happen? Normal people will make Mr. Black's case for him. It can and does happen, not only by the government, but corporations do it in guerrilla marketing as well. That said: I have not personally seen any UFO videos that were OBVIOUSLY NOT man-made, natural, scientific: whatever. I've seen videos where they were NOT OBVIOUSLY man-made or scientific. The difference here: I have not seen a video that was incontrovertibly ALIEN. I have seen videos where I cannot positively say that it is NOT alien. Small difference, but important. -------------------- "Behold, I come prepared with my mighty magical squeegee of TWOOF!"

===================================== Which is what I first thought Ultima1 may have been doing in the 911 thread here at AU. Lots of evidence got produced to help the ‘official story’s’ credibility because of U’s insistence that posters provide evidence his theories were incorrect etc… A very effective means for promoting interest in a subject that many folks would not really have cared much about. Precisely my point. I never realized HOW MUCH evidence there is in SUPPORT of the official report, nor would I ever have been motivated to even LOOK for it, had not a certain 'freak-of-the-week' supporter with arcane 'secret government' connections popped up and continually challenged me about 'evidence'.
At first I thought it might be reverse psychology as well ... now I know better ... and God help us all! The interesting thing is that I think there IS a 9/11 conspiracy ... I just think it's far more subtle than the 'freak-of-the-week' theory ... but that's just an opinion and it belongs on another thread anyway ... -------------------- "Behold, I come prepared with my mighty magical squeegee of TWOOF!"

I have personally been accused of being one quite a few times on this board!
The idea is ridiculous of course. There are much more effective ways of swaying public opinion. More than 50% of Americans believe in UFOs.. the government has no interest or way of making those people not believe. Its a bit self centered to think so.. these boards are simply not that important. I love it when occasionally the board crashes.. the next day any number of people will claim the government was denying them acces.. |

rorechof, i knew you or somebody else was gonna mention ultima1 if you hadn't i would have. In fact he may not of been lying when he said he worked for NSA.
Vetamur, you should know especially that gov. has lied, debunked, falsely accused, etc. in many other different subjects such as the history and actions of the colored peoples most notiable the native americans and the african/african-americans, so why not ufo's we really have no reason to believe anything they say and that is proven over and over. |

I would agree with you on that, MD. Remember the Vietnam body-counts? It's even come to light recently that one of the two Gulf of Tonkin incidents never even happened.

Governments can try to manipulate news, history, etc. The most effective type is when the people want to believe it or when there are no ways of independently verifying anything.
The Gulf of Tonkin is a great example. Two navy destroyers basically get paranoid, a bit of mass panic sets in..its gets some political spin..and there you go. But the only witnesses were a) the people on the the two destroyers North Vietnam.. even less trustworthy than the US government.
So, its relatively easy to control perception. China was brought up. Another good example. The Tianenmen Square Massacre of 1989 is not generally known about in China even today. It happened in one city, in a country where the media is totally controlled by the government. Only today, when even the Chinese government struggles to keep up with censoring the internet, is word finally spreading. There are free presses all over the world. There is the internet. There are 190plus different governments. There is simply no way of spinning something on this level. Plus, there is the definate lack of motivation. With people generally already believing in aliens, what would be the point of hiding their presence? I also find it amusing that the people put the significance of a forum like this on the level of the Gulf of Tonkin incident. There is no need to manipulate the publics perception of aliens on forums as the forums dont sway public opinion. True believers show up here and exchange blury videos and pics and their ideas. The general public gets its ideas from TVs, books and especially movies. This forum doesnt offer any proof up. Nothing close to it. In contrast, we can prove there is a Gulf of Tonkina, and that the North Vietnamese had gunboats. From there you can spin. We can prove there is a Tianenmen Square, and that SOMETHING happened in the streets and alleys surrounding it. From there the Chinese government HAD to spin. If you wanted to make a case such as this, I think you would be better off trying to claim Steven Speilberg is the governement agent.. whereas almost all movies show the aliens as "bad", Speilberg tries hard to show "good" aliens. |

Reminds me of a conversation I had with some friends over ten years ago. My brother and I were talking about how easy it would be to bug a TV so that the government could watch people: whereupon our friend said ... "Yeah, but why would they bother? My life ain't worth watching."
AU, much as I like it, is just an internet forum, and there are much more important places for the government to watch. This place, even as internet forums go ... is pretty tame and harmless. -------------------- "Behold, I come prepared with my mighty magical squeegee of TWOOF!"

it would be fairly easy for the gov. to monitor sites like this and its not like this would be the only one. Vets right this sight is not worthy of being monitored but there may be a reason for that.

I don't think there is much to worry about as far as debunkers go. The internet is very nice in that it can help speed information around. A debunker would thus have to come after the fact and tell you why you can not trust it, or pervert the original until it is clearly a fake.
Either way, you will still be able to get your hands on the information. To be honest, the debunker will in part assist you in drawing your attention to the information by adding to it and helping to pervade it on this medium. It then becomes a mater of personal integrity. Each person must be willing to stand up for himself and be his own eyes. Something the high and mighty scholars of the scientific world can get out of the habit of doing and is the reason much of the scientific world chases ghost so to speak. And why religion has such a bad rep right now. Debunkers are nothing. They are just cross talk to the real facts. |

U posts: I have yet to see anyone post evidence to debate what i have posted.
================================= That’s because you have yet to read anyone’s evidence U…lol People post it and you ignore it. Or you are dyslexic and are unable to comprehend what you read and that’s why you can’t tell it’s been posted? Anyway, this is about enough of hijacking/disrupting threads due to your insolence U. I might post about your posts if your posts are misleading, flat-out wrong or interesting posts though… Post away… ~rore -------------------- Peace&Love~rore
