I know Bigelow Aerospace are in the business. This Galactic Suite company I have not heard of previously. The latter company say they are planning to accept their first accomodations by 2012. That is a fairly bold claim, considering that the most crucial part is missing from both schemes. That is, a man-carrying orbital spacecraft to take guests and staff to and from the hotel. That leaves a mere four years left for development. Have they flown anything? Even sub-orbital? Only one private organization has managed to fly a human into space, and even then not into orbit, and that was Scaled Composites. The feat has not been repeated for the past three years. They are currently developing a craft with a mission far more modest than either of the two aforementioned companies: to take passengers on sub-orbital spaceflights. Even then, they are not expected to take paying passengers until 2010. I believe that Bigelow Aerospace has a $50 million prize for the first orbital spacecraft, simliar to the X-Prize that spurned the development of Space Ship One by Scaled Composites. But, as you can well imagine, that prize has gone unclaimed. Bigelow Aerospace have flown two unmanned test craft that were launched on Russian boosters.

I knew this day was coming but not this soon. For now the $$ is high. If I had it I would do it. What a view it must be!

Pretty amazing! I'm blessed to live in an age where technology is thriving and we're making huge progress. I would like to go into space, I've always been fascinated with it since I was a child. But, like Dak said, it's too costly. Then again, I'm a little scared of heights.
