Why is it that all daylight sightings are useally either glowing, shiny or dark metal, and at night the same but either fireballs of light, multiple color changes or glowing orbs.
If they can cloak themselves in space so that the only thing that can see them are special camaras, why not do it when actually in earth's atsmosphere, maybe this has been asked before but I'm in a current debate and needed some seasoned members opinions so I don't make a fool of myself..Thanks..wink.gif

It has always been my belief that a vast majority of crafts have a protective energy field around them that protects them and that the glowing is a byproduct of their propulsion system. This would explain why so many UFOs look fuzzy or out-of-focus.
As far a stealth. I do not see them using it much except to conceil themselves from certain operations while in the atmosphere of a alien world like ours. Others that seem to turn invisible may have actually accelerated quickly, phased out to another universe, time or ?.

Oooh! Cool topic!

These are just some thoughts on stealth in Earth's atmosphere:

If you can see the surface in any color but black, then they can be tracked by radar and what not. Black can mean that electromagnetic wavelengths across many frequencies are not being reflected. Thus the craft will not appear on any radar or other system designed to reflect signals to detect it. This method can also stop detection methods designed to pick up signals that pass through the hull such as infrared. Lastly, to complete the package, this method needs black sky (such as night) to really turn invisible.

Such things as shape (meaning they have angled sides) that can bounce radar in other directions than the radar tracking receiver will only limit the range on witch radar can work. But they will be detectable by radar if they get too close or have any open windows/ports.

Other then Jet engines, most other engines that we use to not use allot of power to fly. But there are others, and they do use allot of power. This makes then trackable but not if all you use to detect them is radar.

Also, the Earth is protected by the Van Allen belt. An area around the planet made up of the Earth's Magnetic Field. This field blocks the harmful radiation of space including what the sun puts off. This blocked radiation in the Van Allen Belt makes it deadly to anyone that wants to pass though it. Most of the substances that block radiation are not good for construction making radiation protection another layer that needs to be added to the ship. However, good protection often means some degree of detectability. Great protection means you will stand out like a beacon.

On the subject of inter dimentional travel, I myself have never hear of a craft that could do such a thing at will. But I suppose that would make for great stealth to a world that has no idea about how that works.

There have been crafts that appear pitch black.
