Although the Roswell Incident is probably the most well known UFO incident ever to have occurred, it is a long time since it happened. It still holds every relevance and UFO researchers around the world will continue to investigate it, however this research is made hard by the fact this incident occurred fifty years ago. Many eyewitnesses and other figures associated with Roswell are now dead. Most of the information that can be gathered has been gathered and there are only so many different viewpoints and theories that can be established from the same basic primary sources.

This means that we need a fresh incident. Then we can gather all the kinds of information and eyewitness accounts, which were overlooked in the years after 1947. It would be like a second change to perform an excellent investigation of an incredible event. We are now getting that chance thanks to a series of strange happenings at a minor industrial town of 100,000 inhabitants called Vaginha, Brazil.

An unidentified flying object was picked up on US radar over Brazil (there were no Brazilian satellites), contact was however made with the Brazilians and the information was relayed. The Brazilian Air Force was scrambled while many people on the ground saw a cigar shaped craft expelling large amounts of smoke heading for the ground. In other parts of the town there were many anomalous lights reported.

The Brazilian Army and the local fire service went to the crash site in a coordinated joint operation. They go to the crash site as indicated by local eyewitness reports. On searching the area, a craft was not located, however an EBE was. It was wrapped in a camouflage net then put into a 1meter (3ft) square box before being loaded into a Brazilian Army Truck by soldiers.

On the same day, three girls saw a creature of the following description: Brown, soft skin ('like a heart'), large, red, bulging eyes and visible veins. They ran home and told their mom, who, being more bothered about something scaring her girls than being shot with an extraterrestrial AK-47 went after the creature. All she found was a footprint with a round palm and two long straight, forward facing toes.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian Army move the creature to the local hospital. It was a hot day and there were numerous townsfolk out on the streets who witnessed the military operation. By now, the press was on the trail, they were however, refused any coverage by the army, the reporters who failed to comply were scared off by soldiers. There was no identification of the creature from the hospital or the military.

Some members of the Brazilian army who actually held the creature after packing it into the net gave their report on the event to UFO researchers despite being told not to talk, at risk of losing their jobs. All reports however were in agreement as far as who was involved, the equipment used, etc.

This event is seen by many as being as important as Roswell. It has many similarities: the recovered body was medically examined, there were sophisticated witnesses such as doctors and high ranking members of the Brazilian Army, there was a crash from which creatures were recovered, the US government was involved and so was the military. There were also some differences which distinguish this event from Roswell: the press covered Roswell, there were lots of documents and a brief spate of articles in newspapers and possibly most importantly, there was a testimony from the military about Roswell.

One UFO researcher thinks the EBEs were not clever: maybe they were just the cargo and not the same as the life forms controlling the craft. They could have been jettisoned as a decoy while they intelligent beings fixed the craft and exited the Earth's atmosphere, after all no craft was ever found but many people saw it heading towards the ground. The creature seen by the girls was not wearing any clothes and did not seem intelligent; maybe it was an extraterrestrial animal. The bodies at Roswell were connected with the craft, it is much more likely they were the operators of the craft and that they were sophisticated life forms.

After the event, a woman attending a party at a local soon saw an identical creature as the girls had seen. Dr. Leila Cabral, a member of the zoo staff report anomalous problems and five unexpected deaths of animals with inconclusive port mortems.

Could this event be as important as Roswell? Arguments for its case are that it is fresh and recent and all witnesses are alive and will be for a long time to come. Most Key Witnesses to Roswell are now dead and died within ten years of the incident. However on the down side, the military were quick to react to the crash and were keen for the public and press to see as little as possible. If they hide all evidence will this event be confined to deep inside an American military base making a comprehensive investigation impossible?
