J. Westhead

In 1994 I went on a road trip out west with 7 others. I live in Chicago and we were headed to Arizona. Was an interesting ride. Drove into a storm in Nebraska, first time weather actually scared me. Our destination was the world unity gathering, the first of it's kind. Anyhow, we were at the Grand Canyon, it was august 18 or 19, can't remember the exact date, I didn't even have a watch.

We were at the south east rim of the canyon, Navajo Point is it's name. There are a few parking spots there, and small observation spot. This just a very small spot on the canyon, the more popular spots are down the road. The sun had set and there was no moon. We were all in our own little worlds enjoying the amazing night sky. I live in Chicago, and I mean IN Chicago, north side. I'm lucky if on a clear night I can see 15 stars.

I was in total awe of the night sky out there, it is totally amazing. For the first time I understood why they call it the milky way, the sheer density of the star field, incredible. So we were all enjoying the sky, you could easily see "shooting stars" and satellites. There I am alone but not far from the others when I hear a loud, "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT???!!" I went over to where it came from, we all gathered there in a line, and there they were in the sky.

In the southern sky at about maybe a 50 degree angle were 2 large lights. A big one following a smaller one. They appeared as large lights in the sky. To give an idea of how large they looked, the larger one was like 25 stars put together in size. They both were bright with a orangish color, the smaller of the 2 had more of a uniform color, whiter. The larger one had a whiteish center surrounded by an orangish hue. They moved across the sky from west to east in a slight arc/downward angle. They didn't just move in a line though, the surged and stopped, surged and stopped. It was very fluid though, the pauses they made were not jerky, the motion was smooth. They continued across the sky until the smaller one, the one in front appeared to stop moving while the other continued, but it didn't stop. It started to get smaller, and fainter until it disappeared straight off into space. Then the other did the same. We all watched it as it got smaller, and smaller, until finally it was gone. The entire time I was the only one who spoke, and I repeated the same thing over and over, "What the @#%$ is that??!!, can anyone tell me what the @#%$ that is??!!" none of us had an answer. Now we're not rocket scientists, but we we're not morons either. We tried to figure out what it could have been, plane, helicopter, weather balloon (lol) and no matter what rational explanation we came up with, there was always a reason why it couldn't have been that. We concluded that there wasn't an explanation, and we didn't know what it was. After that we were all super jumpy. We got back to the national forest where we would camp. We saw some light in the woods, a flashlight probably, but we went tearing off through the trees like madmen towards it. We were all totally freaked. 5 people including myself all saw the same thing. It's been almost 8 years since that day, but it is still fresh in my memory, and has impacted me every day since.

I can't sit here and say that it was for sure, 100% an "alien" spaceship. There was a "craft", or vehicle, and it definitely disappeared right off into space. So I'm basically at 2 conclusions, either it was "aliens", or someone here on earth has technology hundreds of years ahead of anything the public knows about.

The reason I had said that I've never seen or heard any account like mine is I've never heard about a sighting where it disappeared into space like that.

I didn't believe in UFO's before this happened, I was a skeptic. I figured that life had to be out there someplace. I don't even consider myself to believe in UFO's now either, that's like saying that you believe in trees, nobody believes in trees, they are there. Belief is for Santa, god, and leprechauns.

Maybe some people can see something like that and not have it affect them, but not me. I would say having that happen to me was basically like taking everything I knew, everything I thought I knew, everything I have been told, and flushing it down the toilet. All of it is false, nothing if real.

The conclusions and ideas I've come up with since then are immense. Having to reconstruct all of existence, trying to find answers, but there are none. All I find are more and more questions.

I was swinging at my playground at my school with my friend and all of a sudden I see this thing in the sky. It was a shiny silver color and I am positive that it wasn't a plane. I was like," Hey Sarah, look its a UFO," I said that jokingly. And then, it was gone. I was like," What?!?!!?" and Sarah was like," What?" I've always wondered what that was.

November, 1998. Joshua Tree, CA. A friend and I had gone to the desert to watch the Leonid meteor shower. It was about 11 pm and we were preparing for the high point of the meteor shower when a huge triangle shaped craft whizzed above us. It was silent and travelled across the sky from directly above to the horizon in less than 2 seconds. It was amazing. It had 5 lights along the front side two edges. Because it appeared so huge, we estimated it to be the size of a 747 or larger, as it blocked out the stars behind it as is passed overhead. We figure it was probably a govt. ship, still, pretty exciting.

When I was little my mother, brother and I were always fascinated with the sky, and because we lived in the country the sky was very clear at night. We use to get a rug and lie down on it on the grass at night and look for shooting stars, but one night we all noticed a large bright white light moving very slowly across the sky, my mum told us it must be a satellite or a plane (which is not possible because planes never flew over our house), but she quickly changed her mind when it suddenly gained speed and flashed quickly across the sky and out of our sight. To this day I've always believed in aliens, and I always will.

About five years ago me and three friends were driving around a place called 'Dartmoor', its in the UK and is basically a big moor! It was around 10pm I think and we decided to stop for a smoke, nothing drastic just a spliff basically. Anyway Dartmoor is a pretty barren place you can drive for miles and not see another person or house etc. I was looking out the car window up at the stars and off in the distance I saw what I thought was probably a helicopter, as we had seen a police copter earlier in the day on the ground. It seemed to be coming closer so I pointed it out to my friends as what we were smoking wasn't entirely legal! Anyway it kept getting closer and We soon realised it wasn't a copter. If I was to try and describe it I would say, it wasn't particularly big, and looked triangular, the thing that stands in my memory the most is that it had three large white lights on the back end of it, in a triangle configuration, one on top two below, almost like the jets on the shuttle, except they weren't jets as far as I could tell, just looked like large white lights. There was a couple of small lights running down either side of it, but nothing to impressive. It was hard to make out much more about it as it gets really dark up on the moors. It came pretty damn close to us, and quite low as well, and I asked my friend to turn the car stereo off to see what we could hear. The weird thing was we couldn't hear a sound from it even though it was so close, probably only 20 metres away or so. Anyway it just hovered near us for about 2-3 minutes and then flew off again, not blindingly fast or anything, just turned around and off it went.

Now I know what your all thinking, "yeah but you were stoned", but as I said it wasn't much, just a spliff between the four of us, and we definitely all saw it so I wasn't tripping out or anything like that. I don't know what to think about it really, I'm not saying it was definitely alien, could quite well of been a military thing. Thinking back on it now I guess seeing the police copter earlier in the day might have some significance, I didn't link them at the time but bit of a coincidence really.

I live in a very rural country area. The summers are hot and dry, but the summer nights are wonderful. I was outside at about two am enjoying the warm night and having a smoke. I gazed up toward the stars and saw something I didn't expect to see. Two lights in the sky, quite a distance off. I dismissed them as airplanes, but upon further examination they were moving much to fast. The first light seemed to be running from the second, but he wasn't getting away very easily. The second light was in hot pursuit, matching him turn for turn. Then the second light seemed to launch something - a smaller light, toward the first. The new object raced toward the first light. The first object suddenly zoomed off into the heavens. The object that had been launched kept going in a straight line and eventually went out. The second light left the area at a high rate of speed, but nowhere near the speed the first light had zoomed off with earlier.

On Wednesday August 21st, at about 7:15, I went outside. It had been raining for the last hour, and it was very windy out. I followed a Bike path, which was separated from a nearby forest by a railroad. I remember hearing something, a slight humming noise. At first, I guessed that it was the wind. But, it stopped in a few seconds, although I was still walking, and the wind was still blowing. There was an odd smell coming from the forest. I looked over, and saw something. It was lightly colored, and at first I dismissed it as wood. I was about to walk, when I heard something in the forest. I turned back. I looked in the same direction as before, but the figure I saw before was gone. I went across the railroad to investigate, And I saw something... before I could realize what it was, I heard a shaking in the woods, and was startled, so I ran off. Looking back, now, I think I saw something light gray, somewhat like a dulled metal object.

At around 11:00pm, while I was asleep, my parents and my sister were aware of a UFO hovering above our neighbourhood. They heard a noise... when my mom describes it, she says "Wooooo." My sister looked at the window and through the blinds she could see bright green light. She was so scared, she hid under the covers.

Stuart (Compiled from an online interview by webmaster)

In Berkshire, England around the beginning of August 2002, while smoking (cigarettes) in their garden, Stuart and his sister's friend saw a UFO described as 'a bright light, bigger than an average star going much faster than a plane.' The UFO was estimated to be around 50-70 feet (15-20 metres) away and it was to the right of some trees which were 15-20 feet (5 meters) away in front of them. The UFO first slowed down and moved to the left of it's original position then Stuart said it 'zoomed off at alarming speed to the right past the trees'. The whole sighting lasted between 10 and 15 seconds.

Anonymous (Two Experiences)

In the summer of 1971, I was at my neighbours playing with the kids with my sister, as they were all 3 our age. I was 11, and so was C, my best friend at the time.

We live in a rural part of Livingston County, NY. We were playing outside in the yard all afternoon. At dusk, all 5 of us were in a group in the middle of the yard. Seemed to be a cloud over us, so we looked up and saw a "saucer shaped" craft above us.

It doesn't look like any of the photographs I've ever seen of UFOs, nor any of artist's renderings of what they've seen. Again, it was dusk; very near to getting dark. It seemed to be an army green color, although it could have been grey. There were four half ball lights spaced evenly around the outside bottom surface... not very bright lights. It made no sound. Just hovered there.

C, J, and myself ran from underneath it and squatted behind a car in the driveway afraid. My sister and D weren't scared at all and stood underneath it yelling for the object to take them away. This totally terrified me, so I started screaming at them to stop talking to it.

The maple trees in their front yard were probably about 50-60 feet tall then. The craft seemed to be no more the than 100 feet above the treetops. It's dimensions I cannot accurately describe unless I were return to that place and measure the yard; which the new owners would most likely think very strange of someone asking to do on their property. Frankly, I was more interested in getting my sister and D out from underneath it than I was at the objects size at the time.

When I began screaming at them, the object started moving very slowly to the North West, and hovered over the front trees and the road for a bit. I looked back at my sister, then looked where the object had been last, and it was gone without a trace. No sound, no fuel trails; just gone. My first encounter.

Coming home sober about 3:00 in the morning from bar tending at a town about 14 miles from home on a summer night in 1981 or 1982, in Livingston County, NY, I turned onto the road to home.

There was something to my left in the air in the oat field. Didn't think much of it, as military planes used to fly very low to the ground in our area, and I had my tape player up pretty loud, so didn't notice if there was noise or not.

It dawned on me, that the planes usually didn't go THAT slow; I was doing about 10 mph, so looking, I saw there were no airplane lights; no lights at all. Then, the thing took off like a lightning bolt and left a fluorescent green light at the end of the field; where it became no longer visible.

I ended up with my car totally sideways in a 4 foot ditch, as they had just re-dug the ditches. Don't know how long I sat there. Next thing I knew, a man was pounding on my window asking me if I was all right. His truck was parked as if he had driven toward me; yet I had not seen a vehicle approaching. I asked him, "Did you see that?" He had no idea what I was talking about. So I kept my mouth shut.

A few years back (5 or more), my Mother and I were walking in the woods. We had lots of pets, and if we went into the woods, it was because we were usually looking for one that ran away. I think we were looking for my cat who had run away never to return.

Anyway, we were pretty close to the house (we could see it) and we were heading towards the clearing to get out of the woods. All of the sudden, we heard this sound. At first I thought it could be a jet fighter. Then as it got closer, it sounded like a HUGE swarm of bees. We looked up towards the sky and saw nothing but the sunlight. It was hard to see through the trees in the summer. The sound came fast and went just as quick, but it was the loudness of it that was so unusual. Of course living in the woods we have seen many a bee or wasp, but never have we heard a sound like this. We even have an empty hive that is bigger then a basketball that we knocked down by our horse barn, and that nest had a loud sound when it was occupied. But this was a hundred times the magnitude.

I ask anyone if they know this sound. Could it have been a swarm of bees? Is there a military plane that makes this sound? Was it something else?

I'm not sure if this is linked with aliens, spectres or just my imagination. I was in my bed one night and I was half-asleep. I was woken up by a loud humming sound. This only lasted for about one second. Awakened by the noise, I looked over to where my friend, Michael, was sleeping and I saw a small ball about the size of a tennis ball. It looked like a solar eclipse and was hovering above the second bed and then it disappeared.

Matt Connors

It was about 3 years ago on a hot summer weekend. The weather channel said it was gonna be a scorcher and it was...until night. For some reason it was ice-cold. My dad had just started becoming intimate with his girlfriend and him and my sister, Vanessa were going over his girl-friends house to sleep over. My sister was friends with Renee's, my dads girlfriend's, daughter, Rochelle. My dad said told me to stay home and "keep an eye on the house". I stayed up until about 1 or 2 in the morning, watching TV. I never really had an interest in aliens or UFO's, but this incident would change that completely. At about 2, I felt the sudden urge to go outside and the exact second that I did, night turned to day as something very bright was around the corner, on the side of my house. As I bravely inched my way to the corner, I peered over and could see nothing. I slowly realized that it was above me...10, maybe 20 feet away...there it stood, 30 feet in the air. A humongous ball of light. I stood frozen in fear, not able to move. I cant remember anything else of that night, except waking up in my bed...which I was no where near.

I awoke in my bed, believing it was merely a dream. When my sister came home the next day, she told me that she had something to tell me that I wouldn't believe...I said the same thing...We argued for minutes as to who got to tell their story first. I let my sister go... "I know that your gonna think that I'm crazy...but I saw something strange last night. I'm not sure what it was, but it was big...real big...It was over our house Matt" As soon as she said this I blurted out. "Your not crazy...I saw it too!" I began shivering as the same fear crept up my spine as I fell to the floor, in pain.

Ever since then, when the subject of aliens, crop circles, and/or UFO's are brought up, I experience a great deal of pain in the far back, right side of my brain. I've passed out due to this pain and have flashes of memories (they don't appear to be mine) of being in a strange place that I cannot explain, during them.

Fall last year (2001). I live in a rural area surrounded by bush around Kakabeka Falls in the Thunder bay Ontario area. One night, one of our cats was lost. So after a long search we found him stuck way up a tree. My wife went back home and I was there by myself with the cat up a tree. Because the cat was up a tree I was looking up. The sky was clear and starry when a silver oval shaped appeared high up in the sky. The first thing I thought was" why is there never anyone around or why don't I have a camera". The object started to move across the sky at a great speed. Trails of light came from the top and bottom of the widest part and it seemed to be getting brighter and brighter as it flew across the sky going from a silver to eventually a bright glowing red like the thing was red hot. The glow that came from it lit up the tops of the trees in the area and upon glancing over I noticed the cat was watching this thing to. After it made its way across the sky and it was at its brightest point (this thing looked like it was bright red hot!) the streaks behind it stopped and this thing started to pulsate like it was cooling off. You could see it cooling (or at least that's what it looked like to me) from the tip to the rear of it. It looked like a black color flowing from front to rear. As the black flowed through it pulsated less and less and the colour of it went from bright red to eventually a dark almost black colour. It continued on its way and I couldn't see it any more because of the tree tops. I wasn't afraid afterwards, I managed to get the cat down and I went home to tell my wife. I ended up phoning the police and they said that someone else reported something like a shooting star but not a shooting star. At least I wasn't the only one to see it.

Webmaster: This sighting has since been augmented as I have been sent information by a couple who were driving down Hwy 590 by Kakabeka Falls in 2001. They saw an orange-ref glowing object in the night sky just above the tree line directly in front of them. They watched the object rise and fall below the tree line a few times before it disappeared for good.

It was an overcast January night in 1984. Four friends of mine and I were travelling from Raleigh, NC to Durham. One person in the car said, "What is that?". They pointed to some lights over the tree line beside the highway. I looked at the lights and said, "It's a water tower", but then I realized that the green and white lights, which were strobing across the object, were at an angle. Then I offered, "Maybe it's a helicopter", because I knew that helicopters sometimes fly at an angle. My boyfriend, who was a mechanical engineering major said "helicopters have to be moving to be at that angle" and these lights were stationary. There was also a red blinking light below the line of strobing green and white lights. About that time, the lights moved instantaneously behind us over the highway. Even though the lights only seemed maybe 50 yards or so behind our car, all we could see were lights. For just a minute or so the lights seemed to be following our car on the highway, and then they shot up through the clouds and were gone. We checked our watches and wrote down the time and the mile marker on the highway. When we arrived at our destination in Durham, I called the tower at the Raleigh-Durham airport and asked them if they were aware of anything on radar at the time and location that we had written down. They said nothing was on radar and immediately referred me to a UFO hotline in Washington DC. I called that number and reported what I saw.

Rita

My name is Rita. My sighting is many years old now (1988) but I will never, ever forget what I saw. I live in the Mississippi Delta area where for miles there is nothing but farm land. The crops had been harvested and it was a late November evening. I was travelling home on a lonely little country road. My son was playing basketball that evening and I was afraid that I was going to be late. I was speeding just a little but with the flat delta farm land, one could see for a long way. I looked out of my driver side window and saw a huge circular shape illuminating a recently harvested bean field. I slowed the car and tried to figure out what this was. If you could imagine a flash light shining on a dark wall and then pointing that shape flat on the ground and magnify it ten-thousand times, that would be the image.

A huge flash light shining on the ground is the exact image. By this time I had almost stopped the car and was still trying to figure this out. Suddenly, I looked up to follow the light and there was an object. I could not see what the shape of this thing was but it was hovering above the ground about 50 feet up. I really don't know how long I sat there but I know the car was completely stopped by this time. Then, with the light still shining, a small red ball came out of this craft at the very point where the light was coming out of this object and shining on the ground. This red ball came straight toward me. I became scared and sped up the car. I drove but kept looking back to see if this ball was still behind me. I got faster and faster and every time I looked it was there. Finally, I got the car up to ninety miles an hour, when I looked back, the ball was gone. Shaking. No. Trembling all over is a better term. I slowed the car and tried to reason this event away. I felt like I was in a dream state. I kept asking myself, "WHAT HAPPENED?" All the way to the basketball game I questioned myself. I did not talk about this for a long time. Just in the last few years have I re-lived that night. The funny thing? When I got to the teacher's lounge the next morning, the local paper for Greenville, Mississippi was covered up with UFO sightings from the night before. I never said a word.

We were shooting a story of a tribe that lives in the mountainous outskirts of Mexico City for a Cultural News Series I was the producer of, ("Hoy en La Cultura" on Channel 11). The thick forest area is called "El Ajusco". We had wrapped, and the natives offered (edible) alcohol to appease us from the frosty chill that had set in the evening. Most of the crew had left but for me and the cameraman. We accepted an invitation to stay overnight at one of their cabins so we can get some extra footage in the early morning. The hosts were extremely warm, jovial, and gracious, never giving us reason to suspect or fear anything. We sat around some glowing coals at a hilltop overlooking an open field. The moon was full and its light reflected the dim silhouettes of the forest beneath us. All of a sudden I noticed an object (no lights) gliding low over the open field. When I alerted the rest they huddled next to me to point it out. By the time they fixed their view to where I was pointing it had gone into the thicket of the trees. Everyone cajoled that I was perhaps induced by my ardent cocktail, so I tactfully restrained. Minutes later while we laughed sharing jokes I kept hearing kids playing in the distance. I wanted to ask the natives if kids played late in the evening but I kept suppressing my intent for fear of ridicule. Then a sound came from behind me as if someone blew air behind my head. Unable to withhold anymore I immediately stood up and questioned if they had heard what I heard. No one moved, then a loud laughter ensued from all of them. I began to submit to myself that perhaps the alcohol had something to do with it.

Later when we retired to our cabin the cameraman and I slept on the floor in different sleeping bags. Both laying on our left sides, I laid close beside him. I pondered sleeplessly after everyone slept until finally drowsiness began sinking in when the sound I heard earlier returned, this time louder. I laid frozen wide-eyed wanting to dismiss it when I saw the cameraman raise his head as if he was wakened by the sound. He turned his head to me and seeing that I was awake admitted that he had heard a strange sound too. He rose to retrieve a flashlight from his backpack and both carefully opened the front door. Everything seemed so peaceful I took the courage to take a few steps outside. I could still faintly hear children playing in the distance and I was about to turn and tell the cameraman if he could hear the children voices playing when a louder burst of sound seemed to blow through me. I was frozen looking at the cameraman when he blurted excitedly that he had distinctively heard the sound that time. I can't imagine how I moved my legs to return to the cabin. We sat for hours in the cabin wondering if we should alert the natives but decided to desist since nothing further developed that night. The next morning the natives concluded that legendary theories protect their territory and heritage.

Years later I hosted a special military conference in the Santa Monica Mountains at Calamigos Ranch in California for the Air Force/IPT. Their activities were covert until their fourth and last day when they converged for a small reception. It was then that I was allowed to interact with these military brass. During our conversation I questioned what IPT stood for and they explained "Integral Program Technologies, the source that puts satellites into outer space". Unwilling to divulge what activities they executed as a result I raised the question if they believed in UFOs and if they'd ever encountered subject matter. Surprisingly they admitted and acknowledged their belief and subsequent encounters, but with no specific detail. I conveyed my experience in Mexico to which they felt had reasonable properties to consider.

About twenty years ago (around 1980) I was in Spain on a tour bus. The sun was setting over a beautiful calm sea and a vast and empty blue sky. Suddenly a few people turned to look out of the side window to the rear of the bus. I myself turned to see why.

There was a spherical white object about the size of a small house - very bright. At the front, which I presume was a window, was what looked like a tall man standing. He looked to be wearing a black suit, his face was white and he was wearing what looked like large dark glasses.

The UFO remained for about a minute then shot backwards and out of sight over the horizon, within a whisker of a second. A lot of people on the bus saw this object, including other members of my family. Whenever the subject comes up in conversation we still remain baffled by it.

The UFO was about twenty metres from us. It was close

We were riding on a road right next to the beach and sea. The UFO was following us and was on the edge of the sea to our left rear. To our right side were hotels and shops - we were passing through a town whose name I don't remember, in the south of Spain, returning from a day trip back to our hotel in Marbella.

It was 9PM on an autumn evening in 1976. My father had just closed our gas station on Main St. in a small town in Central New York State and proceeded to measure the gas for his order to the gas company. He ran inside and yelled, "Come here, you've gotta see this!" My 2 brothers, my sister, and I ran outside. I was 15 yrs old. Dad was pointing to a spot between our house, which was connected to the gas station, and our warehouse, to the right of the station.

My breath caught in my chest as I witnessed a UFO hovering at about thirty feet above us. It was dome shaped and silver. There were four lights flashing from its bottom, blue, red, yellow, and green. It made no sound what so ever. We just stood there in a line staring up at the UFO for about 2 minutes when a friend of my brothers came by on his bike. He looked where we were looking and said, "I'm going home for my camera!" And then he rode off quickly.

I did not feel scared at all. I was curious and took a step forward, hoping to see who was inside. My dad told me to get back. I looked back at him and said, "I want to see who's inside."

Just then the UFO began to rise, still without a sound. We watched as it rose about 20 more feet into the air. It then moved out over our large backyard and then suddenly, without a sound, it whooshed up and away. Within seconds it was completely out of sight.

The neighbour kid came back with his camera, but he was too late. I told my father, "I can't wait to tell the kids at school!" Dad said, "Don't you ever tell anybody what you saw here tonight." I asked why and Dad said, "They'll think you're crazy."

The next day at school I did not tell anybody, but when I went to Science class the teacher, acting cocky, asked me about the UFO. The kids in class began to laugh and the teacher had this weird grin on his face. Remembering what my father had told me, I said, "I didn't see any UFO."

The teacher took a step back, got red-faced and said, "But Tracy said," and I just looked at him and said, "I don't know what you're talking about."

I never spoke about that UFO until I was 25 years old. It all came rushing back to me as though I was seeing it again in slow motion. I'm 41 years old now and still remember that night like it was yesterday. All I can say is, we can't be the only life in this galaxy.

It happened about 4 or 5 years ago, I was 16 or 15 at the time. Before this day I was a firm disbeliever in UFO nonsense. I would have to change that opinion, as you will soon find out.

I live in a single-family house in northern NJ. It had been raining very, very heavily, sort of one of those sun showers, which is very unique and beautiful, where a rush of rain pours for a few minutes. Because of the uniqueness of the weather (and my adoration of rain), I decided to go out into my backyard to enjoy it.

After a few minutes, the rain stopped. Then, I noticed over to the left of where I was standing, in the air, a silver circular disk, which appeared to be flying.

It did not fly very fast at all; it was probably flying about the speed of a plane. It didn't have the distinctive "bubble dome", nor was it a sleek thin disk, it was more thick than described on television, I'd liken it to a can of tuna. Well not quite that thick, but definitely thicker than the very thin silver discs you see on TV.

When I originally spotted it, it was flying much, much closer to the ground than any plane would, yet it made absolutely no noise whatsoever. It had 3 very distinctive rings on the bottom of it, one inside the other, which could be easily made out. The rings are what made me inside think, "Oh my god this could be not a normal sight...".

It did not fly like any man made aircraft I've seen before at all. That is, it didn't accelerate/glide straight like a plane, nor did it mimic flight patterns seen in helicopters. It flew by wobbling great distances from one side to another, almost as if it was grabbing the sky to pull itself up more from side to side, sort of similar how a snake crawls. Extremely bizarre.

I marvelled at it till it flew so far straight up into the atmosphere, in its weird wobble-dance flight pattern, that I could no longer make it out with my eye.

During this time I wanted to go inside and call my family out to see it, who were in the kitchen a mere 3 feet away, yet for some reason I did not. I think part of the reason I didn't was because I was afraid they would think I was a fool for thinking it was a UFO (if in case it weren't), and another part was I didn't want to miss where it was heading by turning away to ask them to come look. For some reason I just did not call them, which strikes me as odd as that is not in my character. I really, really regret that now though because they think I'm crazy when I talk about it.

Anyway, after I saw it I remember going back inside and asking my brother, "Um what do weather balloons look like?" because I remember always hearing that story about how the Roswell UFO was really a weather balloon. He just laughed at me and said "why, did you just see a UFO?" and I laughed: "No, I'm just wondering". I didn't tell the truth then because I didn't think he'd believe me, and for some reason it didn't quite sink in what had just happened. The magnitude of importance of what I had just seen didn't quite strike me yet.

Before this day, when I was like 10 or 11, also in my back yard in the dead of night I had noticed 2 neon green disc-shaped orbs of light wiz through the sky at an alarmingly fast speed, way faster than any plane, followed shortly by another forming a triangular pattern. Since it was only flashes of light I didn't think it was definitely a UFO, although after seeing a real craft in the air like that I now have to say they might have been UFOs as well.

I saw a UFO about 17 years ago. My mother, brother and I were travelling on route 16 in S. WV. We saw something in the air that was unusual, so unusual that my mother and other people pulled over to look at it. The sky was clear and blue; it must have been at least 70 degrees outside. There was nothing in the area that could have caused confusion as to whether it was an airplane or other aircraft. Just to be sure, my mother called the local airport when we got home, and no flights had landed or taken off that day (small airport). The craft was angular (not really triangular and it did not look like a stealth bomber or anything I have seen since), and hovered for a while, flew around a bit and then shot off, or disappeared. Very scary at the time (I was 5 or 6).

dheidt@juno.com (dheidt@juno.com), Erie, PA, USA

It was May 22, 1978, in Erie, PA, at approximately 8:25PM when I had a strange sighting, and something more. I was a 10 year old boy. The neighbour girl and I were playing outside in the street. We suddenly decided we had had enough for the day. She went home to put away the tennis rackets and tennis balls we were playing with.

I stood there on the edge of the street by my house, looking at ants on the concrete. For some strange reason, I had the urge to look upward and to the right. I get chills as I write this. In a small opening in the thick white, low hanging clouds, there was a bright blue patch of sky. In the center of this bright blue patch of sky, was a clearly distinguishable fluorescent white object consisting of 6 lights.

The lights weren't random in size or placement. One light appeared to be the short front end (or head) of the object, another the long body. The other 4 lights looked like fluorescent light tubes, parallel to the head and body; and two on either side of the head and body lights. All of the lights had a clearly defined shape; suggesting strongly this was not another patch of clouds. I watched for about 5 seconds until the small patch of blue sky swallowed up the 6 lights. I kept watching, but I could not see it again.

I ran over to see the neighbour girl -- who was outside putting the tennis rackets and tennis balls in a car trunk. I told her I saw something. Her reaction was, "maybe it was a UFO."

Soon after, I told two of my best friends about the incident, but they laughed it off. I was continuously teased about this, and wasn't sure I wanted to hang around them anymore. One of the two friends told his father about the incident. His father said that he believed me -- based on a series of odds lights he himself had witnessed many decades before.

Almost two weeks from the day I told these two friends about the incident, they showed up at my doorstep and said, "Now we believe you."

One friend went on to describe what he saw. He fell asleep the night before (Friday) on the couch in the living room -- next to the picture window facing East. He said he woke up at about 3AM, because he felt hungry. When he looked out the picture window, he saw 6 white objects in the sky, at a distance.

The other friend said he awoke at about 3AM that same morning, feeling thirsty. He went downstairs to the kitchen to get a glass of water. The faucet was in front of a big picture window facing East. When he looked out the picture window, he described the same six lights the other friend saw.

Later, I surmised my two friends probably saw the same thing I did, but at a greater distance than I did. They described it as a bigger white light, surrounded by five smaller lights.

The mysterious part is, all three of us seemed to be "invited" or given "suggestions" to witness these lights. The odds under normal circumstances of my catching that brief glimpse of those lights in those thick clouds has to be a million to one. As well, what are the odds that my two friends would wake at the same time, to witness the same lights? How do you explain my sudden urge to just look up and to the right? Was the neighbor girl given the suggestion to go home? How do you explain my two friends suddenly having thirst or hunger at the same time, on the same morning? I didn't really think about this "invitation" part of the experience until many years later. It's as if somebody had been watching us for some time, and had the ability to plant thoughts in our minds.

Hello, I was stationed at the main fire station on Yokota air base in Tokyo Japan on the night of July 26, 2003. One of the communications center civilians was outside smoking a cigarette when he saw something that he thought was a spotlight but couldn’t see a trail from the ground so he walked out further to investigate. He said he got a little nervous before going out so he came and got me to accompany him out to the flight line area. Upon our arrival on the tarmac, we noticed three lights which appeared to be chasing each other in a sort of circular pattern, naturally we first thought "spotlights" were creating this but then quickly changed our opinions when we noticed the speed at which these lights were moving. Faster than anything I had ever seen in my life. During this time we watched them circle each other for about 20 minutes before disappearing. Like someone had turned off a light. After about 5 minutes they magically reappeared and continued circling themselves above the flight line. During the circles one of the objects shot out of the circle pattern in a split second and was gone leaving the other two to chase each other for about four to five seconds when the third one shot back in and became part of the circle again. They then created a straight line with themselves. One of them shot out of the line and returned just as quickly. These objects mind you were moving faster than a spotlight could ever do. After creating a line they then returned to their circular pattern for about another fifteen to twenty minutes and then disappeared for the rest of the night.

I am not sure if these were UFO's or not but I’m pretty darn convinced that they were not spotlights as some would say or planes, helicopters or anything of sort. Thank you for your time. Oh by the way, keep in mind during this whole encounter, not a single speck of evidence was seen that would be a spotlight plus spotlights illuminate the bottom of clouds, these lights were inside the clouds.

Chris (searle@mistral.co.uk), Brighton, UK

Some years ago, one Saturday during a thundery spell in early November I was at home in my small terraced house in central Brighton. The weather was unusual with sudden squalls and periodic bursts of thunder, the clouds in particular were odd with a rounded or bulbous nature (cumulonimbus mamatus?) and were traversing the sky in a north westerly direction at some speed. The unusual and rather attractive nature of these clouds moving so quickly across the sky caused me to spend some time up at my bedroom window which gave me a view west across central Brighton and from where I could see the occasional lightening flash. During a particularly intense burst of activity I was staring at the base of the cloud layer which appeared very low - only a couple of hundred feet up, if that. The bulbous bases of the clouds were semi transparent which led to glimpses of other cloud layers above and even some shards of blue sky. As I stared I witnessed something that stunned me with disbelief and for which to this day I can offer no explanation, for I clearly saw, within the cloud, a structure. The sight lasted only ten or twenty seconds but was clear and real, it was as though there were elements, within the cloud that were regular and geometric (hexagonal for the most part). The structure, which was large, certainly hundreds of feet across, appeared to be 'made of cloud' and was being blown along at the same speed as the cloud. During the time that the structure was within sight I could see that it was between the base layer of the cloud and the next layer up, parts of it were obscured by thicker parts of the cloud but it clearly comprised one cohesive unit which was not deformed by wind/turbulence as the surrounding cloud was. The phenomenon disappeared towards the north west and was lost to view and despite waiting for a further hour or so at the same vantage point, I saw nothing else unusual or noteworthy.

I am by education and training a scientist, and I might add, a sceptic with regards to UFO's, the paranormal etc. And I am not trying to suggest that this was anything of the sort. I have concluded that the most likely explanation is some sort of optical effect either taking place within the cloud or within my eyes/brain. It was however very, very real and left me shaken and perplexed.

Heidi, Montgomery, AL, USA, 2003

My husband and I went on our vacation to Navarre Beach, Florida. The condo where we stayed is called Sunset Harbour and has a large fishing pier which we spend 80% of our time on. Friday night, August 8, we went to the store and bought a bottle of wine and some beer. After drinking a glass of wine, the two of us loaded up our fishing equipment and headed for the pier. The weather was very pleasant outside with a slight breeze and hardly any clouds in the sky. We were having a good fishing night but the time was getting late - close to midnight - so we packed up and began walking up the pier. Before we got to the end of the pier, my husband said to me: "Look at that!" Before I could ask him "Where?" I saw that he was looking up at the sky so I looked up. There I saw a cluster of lights that I can only describe as that, but as quickly as I saw it, it vanished. It did not move across the sky nor did it make any sound, it just disappeared within 3 seconds after I looked at it. We stood there within awe and tried to come up with a logical explanation for what it could have been but ruled out that it was not fireworks, not a plane, not a helicopter, and definitely NOT our imagination. I had only had one glass of wine and was not by any means intoxicated. When we finally arrived back in our condo, my husband kept telling my that I needed to call someone, the TV news, radio...someone. I did not call anyone about our incident but he and I both feel that what we saw that night was definitely a UFO.

Smoothmotique@aol.com, Newport, Wales, UK

My sighting was a about seven years ago and happened on a long drive up to Slough, near London, I live in Newport, South Wales. It was fairly late, about 10 o'clock, and I was travelling in a car when I turned around to look out of the window. There was a row of trees following the motorway, and something beyond the trees, in the sky caught my eye. I looked up to find a big, white light hovering in the air, totally static. After a few seconds this light burst into three, smaller, triangular shaped lights. Following this, the lights stopped and started for a few seconds, and they then burst off at an astounding speed.

BDHARRIS86@aol.com, WA, USA, 1985

My encounter took place on July 19, 1985. I was staying with my family in a rented cabin near Copalis Beach, WA, and after night fell, I felt that tearing urge to get away from those nearest and dearest. I walked down to the beach at about 10:00 P.M. for a bit of quiet. As I sat on a log enjoying a cigarette I noticed a red light on the horizon, and for some reason was extremely drawn by it. I tossed my smoke away and walked toward it. It grew larger, and larger, and larger still when it appeared to be climbing upwards. I was fascinated, and wanted to know more. I kept on towards it, watching it climb, until all at once it changed to a large, silver ball, and shot straight up into the sky, disappearing way up in the heavens. It was then I realized I was over waist deep in the ocean. I walked back toward the stairs to our cabin, some distance at low tide, and looked over my shoulder periodically to scan the horizon, to no avail. As I finally reached the stairs, I saw a bright white light bouncing on the water, as a skipping pebble almost. Then a second light appeared, with the same antics. I was puzzled, and at the top of the stairs I stopped at a bit of a lookout and watched these lights bouncing about. I felt I should grab my father at the cabin to come and see this, but for some reason I kept putting this off. After a time they both simultaneously shot up and disappeared.

When I got back to the cabin I noticed the clock read 12:45. It didn't register that I had been gone a bit, just that everyone was in bed. I climbed into bed and eventually went to sleep. I had been looking out the window repeatedly until I fell asleep, but could only see the dark porch (the porch light was out) and the shadows of the huge firs beyond. I woke up at 9:00 A.M. the next morning absolutely drained, feeling a dread so heavy I could hardly climb out of bed. A fleeting memory, a vision, that haunted me the rest of the day (O.K., to this day, all these years later) was of about eight men on the porch, backlit by some eerie greenish white glow, standing out side trying to figure out how the front door opened, and then succeeding to get inside. End of memory. It is 2003, I can still see it when I close my eyes. I got out of bed that morning and headed straight to the lookout near the top of the stairs. Nothing was there, I was simply drawn. It gave me a very empty, desolate feeling, yet I couldn't leave. I just looked out over the Pacific knowing nothing would ever be the same again.

When I got back I went to take a shower and noticed a lot of strange bruises and marks on my body. I had such a strange feeling of change and rebirth that I didn't mention them to my family. We left the cabin for home that day, (as per plan) and I have not been back. But, that night stays with me. My life did take many positive turns since that night, and whatever really happened to that sixteen year old that night was a positive thing. I have only told a couple of people about it, but it feels good to sit here and ramble on, a bit of a release, almost. And I know my story is probably not all uncommon, but I really want to admit, here and now, what a part it is of who I am today.

Bard of Ely/Steve Andrews, Grand Avenue, Ely, Cardiff, Wales. 12/30/03

I saw something very weird and unidentified yesterday late afternoon around 4pm. I was waiting for the bus in Ely where I live, the sky was overcast and mostly grey clouds so not a good day for observing much in the sky. The light was starting to get less as well as evening approached. I noticed a very dark or black object moving across slowly in the sky to the west of where I was. It looked like it was going over the houses of the estate. At first I thought it was a large bird, maybe a hawk, but then changed my mind because it wasn't bird-shaped but more like a black oblong box. It seemed at about the height birds fly at or low flying aircraft. Anyway, it carried on moving and stopped at one point, and then carried on and was getting smaller as it went into the distance and became a black dot before it vanished out of sight. There was no one else at the bus stop to give an opinion on it but I have never seen anything like it before. The only possible explanation I can come up with besides it being a UFO is that it was a helicopter, because they go at about the same speed and can stop to hover, and maybe because of the cloud I couldn't see it properly? However, if it was a helicopter there should have been lights and a sound and there were none! And if it was a helicopter it was a black one! It's a mystery to me!

Anonymous, Lexington, MI, USA, ~1988

I was walking toward my house in Lexington in the afternoon about 5PM on a summer's day. I think it must have been September. I was not thinking of anything in particular. I noticed an object in the sky toward the west-southwest. The sky was cloudless. I just glanced and started to keep on walking. Then stopped dead in my stride when I realized what I had just seen. It was a perfect triangle. No sound, no movement, sitting still in the sky. I watched it for about 30 seconds thinking it was a new kind of jet but if it were a jet looking like it was not moving it would be so high up I could not see it. This looked like it was about a half mile up but was still the size of my thumbnail at arms length. It was not far away and very large. It was not moving and made no sound. My knees got weak and I almost fell. Then I ran inside and got my wife. She came outside and I told her to look and we both just stood silent, for about 30 seconds. We ran inside to get the camera and this took maybe 20 seconds but when we got back out side and the triangle was gone, in a clear blue sky it was gone. To get out of our vision it had to have been going about 5,000 miles an hour, in a sudden burst of speed. There was no sound. A jet at full speed could not have gotten out of site that fast. And it had been sitting still for a few minutes then it was just gone. We said nothing and forgot about it. About 6 years later we saw a TV special called UFO's in Russia. The very first UFO they had on the program was the same thing I saw.

Ok, I had this happen twice! One morning in 1999, around March of that year I woke up and had to use the restroom, well we had a window behind the toilet which I hated because I have paranoia at times, I was sitting there on the bowl and had the feeling something was watching me, I looked out and up in the sky and watched the stars, I noticed one that was moving! It would go in patterns, One second it would go which looked like 3 miles or so to the left, then in an instant back to its standing point! Okay nothing known to man can go that fast especially in reverse at a perfect angle, we would be talking about 25,000 miles an hour! Then it would go to the right, same thing, then to the south, then north, than back left, you get the picture, I have not ever been into drugs, or anything and I am not daydreaming, I said it cant be, must be my eyes, well I went outside and looked up until I found it again, it kept going over and over, then finally after ten to fifteen minutes it went off at a slower speed around the whole sky! It took about thirty minutes but it made about a complete circle, I went back to sleep.

Then one year later, maybe August of 2000 me and a friend were out night walking and guess what, the thing I was telling him about all year happened again, this time it didn't go around it just kind of disappeared.

I was in bed but I couldn’t sleep. I tried everything but nothing worked, I started to force my eyes shut to open them to a shivery unsafe feeling you get sometimes. I looked up to find a dark grey figure standing at my doorframe it had a tall skinny body with a large balloon shaped head. I tried to move, struggle, scream but I was totally paralysed I couldn’t even breathe. The next I knew I awoke in the morning as though nothing had happened.
