There are many inventors working on a variety of inventions that sound very promising.
This is a story of Stan Meyers and his special hydrogen generator.

Nor does it tell you how they work. There are lots of claims and anecdotal evidence, but nothing convincing.

I like how the idiot journalist in the second video says "twenty-four kilowatts of power per day." Journalists are in general very poorly educated, and I will not take it upon their authority that these free energy machines are viable. Interestingly, free energy devices appear in the media often (although nothing ever becomes of them, what with the claims not living up to the reality), the same media that apparently the conventional energy industry "controls".

You are too pessimistic.

What the journalist said was probably what was told to him by the inventor.
Much of what they claim could be checked out.
There is a web site devoted to gas and energy saving and generating devices and their opinions of.
lutec is a Austrailian company that is founded by the inventor and is supposedly closer than any to an actual sellable machine.

I do not know about anyone else, but I do not make lots and lots of money to keep throwing it at the oil companies(with their record profits), power companies with their ever rising kilowatt charges not to mention heating oil, propane or natural gas.
If there is a slightest chance some energy generating will come down the pipe, I want to be there to get an early chance at it.

Austrailia, I would assume....in one year.

If this proves to be what they claim it is.

Well, that does not say a lot for the inventor's competence. Use of the expression "X kilowatts of power per day" demonstrates that the user has no comprehension of what power is, something taught in every school. True, watts are units of power, but power is a rate of doing work. Therefore "watts per day" implies some rate of change of power--i.e. that the rate at which work is done has changed over the course of a day. It would be sensible to say that the invention "produced X kilowatts on average for one day," or that "it produced X kilowatt-hours in one day." But to say "kilowatts per day" reveals a fundamental ignorance.

I understand what you are saying. I took robotics electronics and industrial electricity and currently work in maintenance at a large industry.
His poor way of describing its capabilities may be intentional. He does supposedly have the support of the electrical engineer and the local university there is interested.
Some inventors know well what they are doing but do not communicate well with others. It can make them look like idiots and this can lead to their downfall reguardless of whether their invention works or not.
I am hoping that this one pans out. I have been monitoring an armlong list of different ideas that have been worked on over the years, none as yet has come to maket. But that does not mean that they do not work, as claimed either. There are many hurdles before they become readily available to everyone.
Dennis Lee had a promising unit. It was suppose to have been available back in 2005...
Parendev's unit is available for industrial rental, but the cost is redicules...self defeating.
The list goes on.
Lutec so far has held out. We'll see after one year from now.

Why would an inventor not apply for a patent long before he had plans of production? That would leave the idea both open to peer review and give the inventor the rights to his concept.

I don't trust scientific stuff that is not published.

But all these inventors have applied for and recieved patents. From Canada, the United States and abroad.
Copies of the patents are viewable at many of these sites.

I am very cautious of the claims but open minded to the possibility that one or more may be just what is claimed.

Vapor carburators was a big subject years ago. And naturally there were a lot of skeptics.
I have a home built one on my Chevy pickup. They do double your mileage, but since they are a home built unit, reliability can be an issue sometimes.
