a handful of times when i have been asleep at night,and sometimes early morning i have been awoken by a knock at the door,this wakes me with a jump.yet on going to the door finding nothing.it is possible i am dreaming butis there another explanation as it has happened a few times.has anyone here had similar experiences.

Could it be the wind making your letterbox or door knocker bang? as this is what happens with my front door.Or does it sound more like a hand knock.

no definately not the wind.my knockers to heavy(excuse the expression)it is a single loud knock,loud and heavy,that's what jumps me out of sleep.

Okay it's the Avon lady no doubt about it but seriously it could be a number of thing's maybe kid's playing about or your just having the same dream over and over,when you hear the door knock in your dream and wake up and you think it's your front door.Or it could be something paranormal sorry not much help really.

the avon lady comes early eve on a wednesday,the dream scenario seems most likely.a friend who's into the paranormal suggested that sometimes spirits have been known to do similar things ,lettting you know they made through to the other side.but at the time i'm not aware of someone i know passing over,so i discounted that.you have been some help so many thanks fran.

If you really want to know what it is, then set up a video camera and see if you get any thing, plus a voice or noise activated recorder.

I would set up a recorder to see if the knock is a physical one or not.

how do i stop my camcorder going into standby,when left recording.i tried it a few months ago for a different reason(and don't laugh)i saw blue orbs come out of the mirror in my lounge.my wife says shut up she hates any thing relating to ghosts,(ok with ufo's though)seen them a few times very bright with trails blue or white.

You could get a webcam and video the whole night .

Yes, I've experienced the "is it real or not?" type situation. The only real way to find out for sure is to record it somehow (webcam, camera, cell phone, iPod, whatever) or have someone else stay in the room with you.

hey there .. seems too me that its a spirit that is trying to contact you .. i for one have had this happen a number of times but it was a knock on the wall.. Some spirits do try contacting ppl by knockings or tappings on walls doors etc.. If its annoying you too much just say out loud i know ya there but i need to sleep or if ya not scared try talking to them and asking them to show themself..
