RRW 2012 Odessey.
Does the USA have Nuclear Weapons in space and why? Is the Star Wars program proposed by President Ronald Reagan dead and buried like he is (no disrepect intended)? Some say it is so, others may disagree. Here are some excerpts from: http://www.globalissues.org/Geopolitics/ArmsControl.asp. Militarization and Weaponization of Outer Space The US is planning to develop weapons for and ensure military dominance in space. This goes counter to the United Nations Outer Space Treaty that provides the legal framework for the use of space for peaceful purposes. A risk of an arms race increases when combined with the missile defense plans. Last updated Sunday, January 21, 2007. Star Wars; Phantom Menace or New Hope? The US is also risking abrogation of the Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty by continuing with its Star Wars, or national missile defense system. However, critics point out that the program is very expensive (largely paid for by the public), that the technologies are risky, that the threat rationale isn't very strong and that this will affect international relations, and could lead to an arms race. What is RRW? Read this excerpt from: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/...70319091214.htm. One part of the plan, for instance, calls for production of the “renewable, replacement warhead (RRW),” a new nuclear weapon that NNSA says will be easier and environmentally cleaner to manufacture and more difficult for potential terrorists to disassemble or detonate. The article describes details of the RRW, envisioned for production by 2012, and discusses differing opinions about the new proposals for the U.S. nuclear arsenal, now believed to number about 10,000 warheads. Will nuclear weapons be used to deter terrorists or hostile extraterrestials? Inquiring minds want to know.

Inquiring minds want to know. most probably both, but publicly it will be used a deterrent and a threat.most countries have nuclear weapons now and more will follow so where do you go from there, how do you maintain your dominance in stategic placement.the best place is in space.you can hit anywhere at any time with greater accuracy.the chinese have realised this and needed to develop a system to counter out this...thus shooting down satelittes as a warning of capable defence and retaliation. the extra terrestrial threat well this i had thought about but asssume it unlikely as with their assumed technology it is going to have superior weapons systems anyhow.on the other hand we make lay waste to our own civilsation to prevent us being turned in to a slave race.some people would rather die than be captured or killed by the enemy.hari kari, kamakaze pilots, suicide bombers etc. it seems a bit like biting your nose off, to spite your face. |

Well macdaddy, I have to agree with you there. I would think that aliens with their advance technology could shutdown our whole defense system with one blast of EMP pulse. We may end up destroying ourselves more than anything else. But the US does seem to want superiority over other nations by putting weapons in space.
