I have attached a picture that I found for Mars anomalies. It shows what would be Poseidon which is etched on the surface of Mars. Below Poseidon would be his wife or girlfriend who is a mermaid- Amphitrite. I colored in the photo on the left so that it would be easier to notice. Also on the right is the original photo for reference.
Poseidon was in mythology the son of the greek god Cronus and his wife Rhea or Demeter. They were known to have lived in Atlantis. If you have trouble finding Poseidon he would be above Amphitrite looking down towards the mermaid. He is wearing some kind of crown which makes him appear to be a god of the ocean. Poseidon appears to also be in the form of merman.

If it was as you claim it to be then you wouldn't have to point it out, and more than likely the area you are looking at is probably the size of a small country, as you have given no links to the original photos or said at what height they were taken at....

Fen.....I agree there is no frame of reference to the size, or the surrounding topography which could help in identifying what the feature is. From the origional photo posted IMO it is an erosional landform formed when there was more abundant liquid on Mars. The land form is now being eroded and reformed by wind. |

I saved the mars anomaly photo a few months ago. I do not have the website information for reference so I would not be able to say how large the area is that is in the photo.
I have attached another photo that I have painted in other areas of the photo besides the mermaid. You can see a older looking man that is angry with Poseidon and is pointing to what looks like a woman who is trying to draw water into her water bucket. The man is angry because there is no water. Also there is what looks like a fish that has died because there is no water. So the picture says that there was water on Mars and that there were people or what look like people living on Mars. It looks like Mars once had oceans, lakes and rivers. There were fish on Mars. The angry man seems to be stating that he is mad at Poseidon for having something to do with there not being water and the lady in the picture is suffering due to there not being any water. Also Poseidon was on Mars and he is shown with a mermaid. When the water dried up on Mars, life on Mars might have become exstinct. The lady that is drawing water is smaller than the mermaid. Poseidon is larger in comparison to the other people in the picture. It would not be clear if the people in the picture are drawn with any kind of scale. The woman drawing water is about the size of he mermaid's head. She is also about the same size as the fish. This post has been edited by tye: Mar 31 2008, 02:25 PM

However, there is no documented evidence of life forms on Mars except for microbes. All I see are land forms..... |

In the Mars anomaly photo, I painted in the mermaid. I also painted the angry man and the woman who was trying to draw water with a water bucket.
If there is any doubt that there is a mermaid in the anomaly, the website information below describes a possible mermaid who was the mother of Semiramis. Semiramis from what I can understand would have been the mother of Poseidon. Some will say that Semiramis is Isis. It is alot of information to put together to find out who is who. I would say that Semiramis is the mother of Poseidon in the Greek mythology. Semiramis would be Rhea who later changed her name and became Demeter mother also of Persephone. A website that explains Demeter, Poseidon, Persephone and other Greek gods/goddess: http://www.arthistory.sbc.edu/imageswomen/...er/demeter.html Explanation of Semiramis (mother of Poseidon)and her mother Derceto described as a mermaid: http://www.ldolphin.org/Nimrod.html This legend that has branched out into many other cultures, and which has found its ruling into different mythical disguises, now seems to be preserved under the Syrian version by Diodorus Siculus who drew largely from Ctesias of Cnide. He tells us that in Ascalon, a part of Syria, a certain goddess was said to live in the lake near the town. This goddess, Derceto, sometimes also known as Atargatis, had the upper portion of a woman but her lower parts were that of a fish (in other versions she was simply a beautiful priestess-maiden...total woman). It was told that Aphrodite (Assyrian: Ashtaroth), the goddess of love, who bore a grudge against her, made her fall violently in love with a young Syrian called Caystrus by whom she gave birth to a daughter. After the latter's birth, Derceto in her shame and guilt exposed her child, did away with the father and hid herself at the bottom of the lake. By an act of miracles, the doves found the infant and brought up the child, stealing the milk and, later, the cheese which she needed from nearby shepherds. The shepherds finally discovered the little babe, who was of great beauty, hidden amongst the Acacia shrubs and brought her to their chief Simmas of the royal herds, who now took her as his own to raise. He gave her the name Semiramis, which means in Syrian, "the one who comes from the doves [Sumats]." As she grew to the age of a nubility, one of the king's advisers and general, Onnes, (other titles use Menon) was ordered to inspect the flock's when he noticed her surpassing beauty. Captivated by her splendor, innocence, and charm, he took her back with him to Nineveh and immediately married her. They had two children, supposedly twins..Hyapate and Hydaspe. They seemed very happy and Semiramis, being very clever, had given her husband such good advice that he succeeded in all his endeavors. There are other ways to verify the information on the Mars anomaly. I will only show the above information which should be sufficient. |

However, I do not see a mermaid or any of the other things you say are there. What is the remaining information?....as the greek mythology is not sufficient. |

There are other ways to verify the information on the Mars anomaly. I will only show the above information which should be sufficient. Please by all means show us the other ways to verify this imformation, because obviously what you have shown allready isn't sufficient... -------------------- Nathanial "a_skeptic" Meade 1979-2007 RIP |

Rotate it a bit and I see a minataur. Flip it and I see a horse. The point is that if you have a complex random distribution of patterns then our visual cortex looks for context. Cloud illusions of familiar shapes is a prime example.
The more artistic you are then the more likely you will see somthing to identify with. Good imagination, and artistic talent dude. But its like an ink blot test. The images are in the eye of the beholder. Its just the way the human brain works. Without it there would be no great art or appreciation for it. I Appreciate your ability but do not look for more than it is. |

Well it would not be hard to find the image at NASA...or a few Mars boards I go to we could find the originals if you want me to find them??One board I go to they have all the latest released images and I'm sure we can track the image down. And ice...cold lying areas that receive no direct sunlight have changed since the Surveyor shots. Underground Aquifers are seeping liquid water to the surface.and images are showing this.Life has not be proven-not even microbial as yet, but we all know they will... Back before pathfinder-no water-no lakes-no oceans-after pathfinder-the area of pathfinder had seen a 100 gulf of Mexico run offs go through there-then Surveyor's-the European space agency and beagle found direct evidence of water. The latest is vast oceans, lake systems, dried up river beds, water seepage, Martian poles water ice, underground liquid aquifers and on and on and on. Life will be shown to be there..Methane gasses etc...Mars is not the dry barren world we are being fed in dribs and drabs.. |
