http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2008...nterstitialskip Polygamy, Pedophiles and Religion...ugghhhh.... These things make me sooo angry! Here in British Columbia, we have a Mormon sect living in Bountiful. Everyone knows they're marrying off kids to 60 year olds (they might be 16, but I assure you, regardless of them getting their parent's permission, the marriage is not their idea), but no one does anything for fear of violating their rights to religion. Apparently children have no rights if it's done in the name of god? I hate this privileged status we give to religious groups. If this was done for any other reason, there would be no hesitation to arrest the lot of them. Ugh... |

This falls into two of the three categories in the title http://yementimes.com/article.shtml?i=1145...p=front&a=2 The girl should be recognized as a champion for human rights. The father and husband should be prosecuted but there is no law in Yemen given the authority to try the case. How many young children are unable to do what this brave little girl did?
