They killed somebodys loose pet. It was probobly scared, hungry, and seeking help from humans because people had always provided for it. Wanted in house cause it wnated to go home. Probobly was not an attack but a seek of help and care.

we have had many sightings and couple of reported attacks by big black cats, known as the Beast of Bodmin.this interests me as my wife and i saw what was certainly a big cat like animal drivivng home from my dads on the A414 near North Weald Essex.we saw it clamber through the hedgerow as we were passing.i think the car in front saw it too cos' he braked slightley at the same point. It was Black(but it was nightime about 9.00pm.the length of its tail was striking.i all i saw was the back legs and tail disapper through the hedge.
