The lens is clean, (I have some more shots taken in the same time/location), its a fast shutter pic.
Why is the object blurred?

Can you tell us what you were originally trying to capture in the photo? And what is the hydrolic lift doing? Is it a fire truck?

It was taken in Poland, city of Krakow on 2008, 16'th May. There was a firetrucks 150'th anniversary party in Poland
I was trying to make a composition with the crane and clouds and never noticed the object when I was taking the photo.
It's a shame I got only a 6.1 mega pixel camera and can't get more detail from the object. Glad you guys fins it somewhat interesting,
this is the first time I shoot a photo of something that just doesn't make sense from a photographic point of view. Its far away, its blurred.
Makes me wonder why all pictures of UFO's are always blurred, now I have my own blurred UFO, hehe.

Have a look at the picts in my intro ("skylurker"), especially the blue one has a lot of SHARP ORBS in them. Shutterspeed 0.00125 sec. I mostly use a NIKON D80, but also with the D50 (about the same megapixs as your camera) the orbs are well visible. Since it's summer now in Poland you might expect to see more blue sky with orbs...? Good hunting!
