I noticed a in photo of an ancient Sumeria wall drawing carved in stone what looks like victims of a war or battle that are impaled. On the website:http://mars-earth.com/ancient/british_museum/assyrian/image39.html. there is a photo that is copyrited that shows the impaled war victims in the upper left hand corner. I am not sure if anyone has ever noticed the impaled victims in the artifact.

The wall drawing might be only partial. The complete drawing might show more of the scene above. I am not able to find a site with the complete wall drawing.

So it looks like war was fierce in early history around 3,000 b.c.- 5,000 years ago.

This picture looks like the warriors are doing a victory march carring the heads of their victims:http://mars-earth.com/ancient/british_museum/assyrian/image52.html

What kind of animal is in this picture:http://mars-earth.com/ancient/british_museum/assyrian/image32.html

If this is the image you are talking about Click for Image Then there does appear to be some impailed people, but i wouldn't have though it was that uncommon in those times....

they were impailed..it was done to intimidate (but perhaps was counter productive?)

more interesting is the siege engine with wheels and shields?
