This is a Yahoo News hosted AP photograph, so it is not likely to last very long before the link goes dead. Anyway, the UN "peacekeepers" are shown here saluting the coffins of Hezbollah and Palestinian fighters. Photographed on the placard is the dead Hezbollah leader, Imad Mughniyeh, mastermind of the barracks bombing at the Beirut International Airport in 1983, which killed 241 Marines and 58 French servicemen as well as a handful of civilians. Hezbollah is not the Lebanese military, it is a terrorist group merely operating within Lebanon and beyond the control of the government., so these dead terrorists are not requiring of gushing admiration and respect from international "peacekeeping" forces. |

that is wrong, just like one of the released prisoners who was given the red carpet treatment and greeted as a hero, and what was his heroic military action oh yes he killed a little girl and her father...They are nothing but fucking barbaric cowards.....

The American military forces are known for acts of total barbarism and disrespect as well.
It seems that when they get a uniform on, they feel they no longer need be responsible for their actions. They are not all like that. It doesn't take many, to make them all look bad. -------------------- QUEST FOR THE REAL TRUTH |

respect for the dead? you have respect for those who have lived helping others, those who do the right thing,Terrorists do not come into that category, they come under the heading 'sub-human',and should be treated as thus.this situation is going to go tits up.Isreal will go to war..gaza and the west bank will become part of isreal.palestinians will become second class in thier own country, which has slowly become overun by isreal with the assistance of america.
The UN who stood by in bosnia as the serbs carried out ethnic cleansing.the UN are a joke, just another western army with ideals and will assist only when its own interests at heart. |

The US military does not commit atrocities against civilians as a matter of policy, Hezbollah does. 2. If any atrocities committed by US soldiers come to light, the accused will stand trial and if convicted face prison. In Hezbollah, they will not. |

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were more than 60 years in the past, the US military does not presently work with World War 2 rules of engagement. More civilians have died in Iraq and Afghanistan at the hands of insurgents than anything else. If you hear in the news that there has been a market bombing in Iraq, or that people have been bombed waiting in line to apply for government jobs, you do not assume that the US military were the perpetrators. Civilians are only killed in either conflict by US soldiers by mistake, or because the culprits were acting unlawfully. |

Indeed, but atrocities will only get acted upon when the puplic learns about them or if the perpertraitor is no officer. There have been many horror stories told of atrocities done by American soldiers when we went in to get Noriaga. If any were true, I haven't heard anything done about them. To suggest none were true, may be fool hardy. -------------------- QUEST FOR THE REAL TRUTH |

The blue-helmeted peacekeepers in the photograph are presumably Italian, and their predecessors in the Italian army would have been in the Multinational Force in Lebanon, who were the targets of the 1983 Beirut Barracks Bombing which killed 299 of their colleagues from the US Marine Corps and French Army. The UNIFIL itself is completely useless. They say that their purpose is to keep the peace, but they did absolutely nothing when Hezbollah began attacking Israel two years ago. Instead they claim that their function is not to act as a "counter terrorism" force. In other words, they serve no meaningful function except as human shields for Hezbollah and they will deny that they are actually required to give meaning to the "peace keeping" label through any action.
