I think what can help is if you are lucky enough to live in a rural area, you can grow a few vegies, have a tank to catch rain water and what you do buy from a supermarket, try and find the organically grown stuff. It probably is still polluted, but has to be betn much of the off the shelf stuff we buy.

i suppose everything we consume is polluted to some degree,the amount of years we have been using fossil fuels and nuclear weapons,nothing really disappears it just makes it way.... dilluted.In some ways by trying to make things better,sometimes makes things worse.

The biggest pollutents in the world today are totally within societies control. They have been building up in our environment for decades. They poison our groundwater and are killing the bees, amphibians, crabs, oysters, clams, frogs, earthworms, the list of damage is almost endless.

Remember agent orange the defoilent used in Vietnam? And dioxin? Think these went away? Wrong. Their derivitives are in our chemlawn treatments. Monsanto traded our environment for profit. They sold us on perfect lawns and we bought it hook line and sinker. An entire industry of employment built up around it. Lawns, golf courses, business parks, and wherever perfect lawns are desired.

Nature is biodiversity. Lawns with perfect grass and no weeds are produced by murdering biodiversity. The agents that kill weeds damages all broadleaf plants. It drains from lawns and builds up in our groundwater. It gets in flowering weeds and weakens the bees immune systems. It takes three or four treatments a year to keep that grass beautiful. It washes out of the lawns into the environment. It causes amphibians to be deformed and kills crabs in our bays.

Remember when lawns had bare spots and weeds. And we had bees and flowering weeds and healthy bays. And we are drinking this stuff.

Monsanto produces Roundup. A defoilient that kills all plants. They biologicly engineered soybeens resistant to roundup. Perfect soybeens in fields where nothing else can live. We are eating this stuff as it builds up in the environment doing what it was designed to do. Kill life. Simpler organisms like bees and crabs are the first to go. Will complex life follow?

It is madness for the sake of profit and we bought it all the way. When I see perfect lawns I see the death of our environment. Give me back yards with dandylions and clover and bee stings.

Life creates the biosphere that is condusive to life. Clams and reefs capture carbon dioxide from the air to make their shells. Green house gasses build up for many reasons. We are destroying the life that regulates this biosphere.

It is lunacy, and it is out of control.
