why do humans still fear the dark?

PRediters with good night vision was the original fear. Now I think it is fear of the unknown. We are so dependent on our vision. When sight fails fear is the response. Banging into things in the dark is not a pleasent experiance, even if it dosn't bite.

Because we never fully understood why he feared the dark. We know some of the answer, but not all of it. Thus no cure we come up with resolves it completely.

dark is the metaphor of the death and the unknown one

in our unconscious it is the fear of the death

not only do i fear death, i hate it.

me too man as a matter of fact sometimes im terrified of it, but it aint the dark im afraid of i think it is aliens, ghosts, demons, etc. Which is stupid cause im not even sure if i believe in that shit.

I have to admit that I hate the darkness. When I am in darkness my other senses become heightened and I pick up on things that I normally wouldn't. I always feel that somethings going to touch me and I cant see what it is. This only occurs when there is a silence. It could also be that when I am in darkness I feel out of control.

I am not necessarily afraid of the the dark... but it does make me feel uneasy especially while I'm alone.

The reason I believe i am uneasy in the dark would be the shock effect or element of surprise that someone or something could catch me so off gaurd.

And be being uneasy and cautious lowers the chances of being caught of gaurd, be keeping aware your keeping yourself safer(in a sense)

I use to fear the dark but now it is fine because I can see quite well in the dark which is weird I could probably go though a pitch black maze where not even the best night vision can penetrate and make it through faster than anyone else unless they were very lucky.

Yeah, when the power goes out in the night is the worst! I feel like a little kid, haha. But in my room I like to sleep with the fan on, so whenever there's complete silence it's just creepy. I like the darkness outside, with the stars, but that's with light. Complete darkness is freaky to me, when I can't see my own hand right in front of my face. Like when you turn your flash light out in a cave. Eeeks. If I would've been Jody Foster in Silence of the Lambs when she's down in the basement with that weirdo killer, and the lights went out, I would've curled up in the fetal position and called for my mommy haaa. But anyway, yeah, I think it's the fear of the unknown, lack of control, paranoia, all that fun stuff.
