You know, I'VE done my fair share of these. However, let me ask you: what's the point of a goodbye thread? Oh, I know, I know, you didn't want to leave without a word in case somebody a few weeks from now woke up and said: "Hey, where's so and so?" Right? It's narcissism. Plain and simple. There are a few reasons why people do these threads, and I'm an expert at them, so I should know.

* Getting in the last word. Some people, before they slam the door, just have to tell people off. I've done that myself, and it's juvenile.

* "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone!" How many people write these goodbye threads and then sneak back to see how many people beg them not to go?

* a tantrum. It's the equivalent of marching off the field, bat over your shoulder, calling back: "You guys suck! I'm going home!"

Rarely is this about keeping people from worrying. If that were the case, you'd PM your bestest friends and leave.

People (me included): what the hell is up with these goodbye threads (mine included)? Instead of writing a goodbye letter and symbolically suiciding your AU persona ... why not TALK IT OUT? Why not make a thread that says: "How come nobody is taking this seriously?" and then DISCUSS IT?

Let me give you two hypothetical situations:
* Person A says "I'm leaving because nobody takes this place seriously." You know what happens? We shrug. More so if the person hasn't been here that long and we're left wondering, as they stomp out the door, "Well who the F*** was that?"

* Person B says "Nobody takes this seriously! What's up?" Get a good, rowdy argument going and maybe we ALL learn something and gain a new perspective?

Eh? How about it? Maybe before we stomp off the field in disgust, let's ALL (me included), take a few extra minutes to talk about it and see if we can't raise some awareness (our own and that of others).

I find at this time in my life, I have had to much to be serious about, and that does not include what is going on in the world, only in my little world. I do take this forum very serious, just some times life is a bit to much to take and speaking for myself only, I have to NOT take some things serious, just not yet any way. But I do love a good , conversation, an adult type, so, when I feel a bit normal again, lets have one ok?

This forum is open for discussion of all types. Leave if you want, but your departure won't change a thing. Try getting involved if you want to change things. No one will blame you for having an opinion of your own. But please let others have their opinions as well. And now I put to you a simple question:

If we all wanted to have the same opinion, thoughts, and the same thing to say, then what would be the point of communicating anything to anyone?
