Here is an interesting story.

A bug discovered deep in a goldmine and nicknamed "the bold traveller" has got astrobiologists buzzing with excitement. Its unique ability to live in complete isolation of any other living species suggests it could be the key to life on other planets.

There are most likely lifeforms that have evolved from this, somewhere out there in the galaxy, i dont see why not. its possible. perhaps even on our own earth...

It would just mean there is a species out there which is sustained by a different source. it is only our human ignorance to think that it is not possible that there is an organism that doesnt need to eat food water, and sunlight to survive.

vyrtigo......these bacteria appear to be quite amazing.....but bear in mind they do consume energy (eat food)....there is water down that far....it maybe a bit warm but it can be lived in.

Not all life forms require sunlight.......the deep benthic communities similar to the ones adjacent to the Galapagos Islands do not.....they use kemosynthesis instead of photosynthesis.

SD....I found a write up about a soviet/russian drilling project that has drilled down 40,000 plus feet....and they found water down 3 to 6 miles.
