What do you guys think of the photo on the link below.

Its supposedly the severed head of a reptilian :alien: . The people in the photo dont look the sort to have an extensive prop studio to hand!

The head was recovered from a hunting trip.

(Photo is mildly graphic)

Your right, doesnt look like they would be able to afford a prop studio or any kind of special/computer effects, but that doesnt mean some one didnt doctor or give theo people a made head of a reptile person. However, looks pretty scarry and real to me, but then again I am a n00b.

Eeeewwww! Pretty gross. Looks real to me, could be real. As far as the prop for the movie, were would this guy get the prop used in some movie? smile.gif He doesn't look like he's in the movie business. A lay person couldn't make a real looking special effects prop like that even using a halloween mask. smile.gif

Sorry guys but this is not real. Well, atleast its not a real creatures head or anything. Its art. Charlie White's In a Matter of Days

Here is the link to the press release.

http://www.artincontext.org/listings/pages...tos1e/press.htm

From the above link:

Goya utilized grotesque, monstrous creatures in his work as phantasms of moral savagery. The monsters in White’s images read both as literal/naturalistic in the context of LA/horror cinema, and as phantasmic symbols of social decline. Looking as if they’ve happened on Los Angeles by accident, the monsters in these images (created by Hollywood effects artist Jordu Schell) seem almost as panic stricken as their human victims.

White fashions his characters, blandly recognizable from television or other pre-formed notions of Los Angeles, as blank figures who come alive only in constructed “theme” environments. By creating an overall narrative and introducing monsters straight out of special effects cinema, a further degree of artificiality is introduced into a world which already reads as fake, thus allowing these characters and places to be scrutinized in a state of suspended animation. Each photo is titled after a subdivision of LA’s vast and varied yet familiar terrain, and each is held to a 2:1 aspect ratio, suggesting the composition of both landscape and movie screen.

There is another picture in their images section from him, click the link below.

http://www.artincontext.org/artist/w/charl...hite/images.htm

I like his art work..he is a very interesting artist.

It looked vaguely familiar to me too. Seems like a prop guy was on vacation having a bit of fun. Its unfortunate that with technology the way it is these days a picture can't be used as total proof anymore.

Interesting though...

I linked to the specific page with the full-sized image, rather than to the site. It's called refining the search. Live with it.

Just goes to show the task facing reserchers, looked real enough to be an anomaly to me, before the other guy said it was art. Is there a person on this planet who can tell 100% a fake from the real thing? Very high quality special effect for a piece of art, no ameteur! I think. I wanna see the real thing though!

I smell Photoshop as well as prop here. I do recall having seen this picture before and it having been debunked however I took the liberty of blowing up the picture and I can see a little variation in the photo that does not match the unified pixel count, especially around the left side of the head (there is a bend in the chain link fence) good attempt though. smile.gif

The jaw doesn't look right either the way the lower jaw is hanging would suggest that there should be a bulge somewhere near the guys left thumb where the jaw hinge would be, also the upper row of teath have a flowing drapes look about them. I would bet that the model doesn't have an underlying skellington. wink.gif
