Sunday 7/6
Morning Brazel drives to Roswell to visit Sheriff Wilcox. Army Air Force captain sees flying disk near sees flying disk near.
Early Afternoon Brazel and Wilcox call Roswell base and report the find. 1:45pm B-25 crew observes silvery disk over Clay Center, KS.
Col. Blanchard, Maj. Marcel, and CIC Captain Cavitt arrive at Wilcox's office to interview Brazel.
Mid Afternoon Blanchard returns to the base with a portion of Brazel's debris and alerts General Ramey in Fort Worth about the find. General Ramey alerts the Pentagon about the find. The Pentagon orders debris sent to Fort Worth.
Late Afternoon Marcel and Cavitt accompany Brazel back to his ranch to go to the debris field. The two deputies return to Sheriff Wilcox, having found an area of blackened ground.
Evening 1st flight out. Debris flown to Fort Worth.
Night Marcel and Cavitt stay at Brazel's ranch and examine the large piece stored in the shed. Col. Alan D. Clark flies debris in a B-26 from Ft. Worth to Washington, DC for Gen. McMullen.
Monday 7/7

Late Evening Marcel and Cavitt leave for the Roswell base after loading their vehicles with debris. Debris from Washington is sent to Wright Field, near Dayton, OH.
Tuesday 7/8
Very Early Morning Marcel stops at his home (2:00am) and shows some of the debris to his wife and son before proceeding on to the base.
Early Morning Blanchard orders Maj. Easley to post guards on the access roads to the debris field. 7:30am Staff meeting held by Roswell base officers to discuss debris.
Mid Morning 9:00am Cavitt and his assistant M/Sgt Rickett obtain a staff car and drive to Brazel's ranch to pick him up and return to the debris field. Troops arrive at debris field to begin recovery. 11:00am Blanchard dictates a press release on the recovery of a flying disk to PIO Walter Haut. 9:30-11:50am. Series of disk sightings by pilots and officers at Muroc Air Base CA.
Mid Day Haut goes into town to deliver his press release to the radio stations and newspapers. His first stop is at station KGFL, where he gives the release to Frank Joyce. Noon. The information is put on the AP wire. 1st flight in arrives from Washington DC, carrying a special team of photographers and W/O Robert Thomas. William Woody and his father, still curious about their sighting, drive toward Corona. They are turned away by MPs posted on outlying roads.
Mid Afternoon Brazel is flown back to the debris field from the base; other planes from Roswell are similarly reconnoitering the area. The impact site is discovered from the air; ground troops are directed toward it. Barney Barnett and a group of students and archeologists or rock-hunters are already at the impact site and see debris and bodies; they are escorted off by the Army. Col. Blanchard "goes on leave" from the base, but he actually leaves to visit the debris field. Material has been brought from the debris field and loaded onto a C-54; this 2nd flight out is flown by Capt. Pappy Henderson to Wright Field. 3rd flight out, a B-29, carries Marcel to Fort Worth Army Air Field. A few wrapped packages of debris are also on the plane. J. Bond Johnson, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, is told to go to Fort Worth Army Air Field to cover a flying disk story.
Late Afternoon Clean-up continues at the crash sites. Brazel is flown back to the base, then leaves and is located by Walt Whitmore, Sr., of radio station KGFL, who interviews him about the find. Blanchard visits the debris field and impact site with his staff. A 2nd flight from Washington, DC, arrives at the base; Rickett gives the crew a sealed box filled with debris; the plane returns shortly to Washington (4th flight out). The Roswell Daily Record carries 'RAAF Captures Flying Saucer' story. Marcel arrives in Fort Worth and confers with Gen. Ramey; at some point remnants of a balloon are substituted for the real debris. A press conference is held in Ramey's office; Johnson photographs Marcel and Ramey with the balloon remnants; W/O Irving Newton identifies the material as a balloon with a radar target device attached. Ramey issues a statement claiming that the Roswell officers were fooled and that the material was from a weather balloon.
Early Evening Sgt. Melvin Brown looks under a tarp on the back of a truck at the impact site and sees several alien-looking bodies. Glenn Dennis, a local mortician, is intrigued by several inquiries from the base about tissue preservation and the smallest caskets he has available. Truck carrying the bodies arrives at the base. A preliminary autopsy is attempted at the base hospital by pathologist Dr. Jesse Johnson, Jr. Dennis tries to visit the base hospital but is turned away forcibly; a nurse friend warns him to leave before he gets in trouble. 8:30pm Barnett returns home to Socorro. 6:17pm Memo from FBI Dallas office to SAC regarding weather balloon cover story. Ramey gives an interview on Fort Worth radio station WBAP about the weather balloon cover story.
Night Capt. John Martin, Sgt. Brown, and other MPs guard a crate containing the bodies that has been placed inside an empty hangar.
Wednesday 7/9
Early Morning Troops continue clean-up at the crash sites. At the base, three C-54's begin to be loaded with crates filled with debris (8:00am). Senator Dennis Chavez calls Walt Whitmore Sr. to warn him against broadcasting an interview with Brazel; a representative of the FCC threatens to pull his broadcast license.
Mid Morning Officers from the base locate Brazel (who had stayed with Whitmore) and return him to the base for questioning.
Late Morning Brazel is taken by the military to the office of the Roswell Daily Record, where he gives a revised, sanitized version of the story. A special secret service envoy representing President Truman arrives from Washington (3rd flight in.)
Noon The crate with bodies is moved from the hangar to Bomb Pit Number One. Floyd Proctor, Lyman Strickland, and others observe Brazel in town escorted by soldiers.
Early Afternoon Officers from the base visit newspaper and radio offices in town and recover all copies of Haut's original press release. Brazel is taken to radio station KGFL, where he gives a revised version of his story. General Schulgen requests FBI cooperation in solving the flying disk problem. The War Department tells the FBI that the disks do not belong to the Army or Navy.
Late Afternoon Three fully loaded C-54's (5th-7th Flights out) carry debris to Los Alamos, NM, via Kirtland Field. 4:00pm. The crate from Bomb Pit Number One is transferred to a B-29 and flown (8th Flight out) to Fort Worth. The Roswell Daily Record carries a sanitized version of Barzel's story. 5:00pm. http://foia.fbi.gov/roswell/roswell.pdf
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roswell_UFO_incident

All of the documents and original newspaper articles from the time this happened refer to flying disks as aluminum foil shapes suspended below balloons as radar tests. The military referred to it as a flying disk in all press releases. Only newspaper reporters called it a flying saucer.

It is years later that the claims of a sanitized story emerges.

This makes the Roswell story a case of revisionist history. The question is which side is the revisionist one.

Were I trying to make a case for UFO's I would not want to use this one as evidence. Evidence is weak upon investigation.

The Roswell case is a very good one if people know all the facts and info about it.

Here is a review from Stanton Friedman's site.

Roswell - The Facts, Truths
and Eyewitness Accounts

Regarding all the speculation lately of the Roswell film release in August of the crash site and President Truman walking through the debris etc etc, I have typed the transcript of the actual events surrounding the Roswell incident for those people among us who don't really know what happened,or those who are after the facts surrounding the incident - not the rumours.

I decided to post this because a guy named Alastair Carter requested the information and it took me a while to type it so I thought alot of other people might benefit from this posting as well. Anyway here it is.

The facts, not the story (this viewpoint is quite skeptic actually. It takes into account all of the possibilities):

One of the most contentious aspects of the UFO enigma is the allegation that a number of flying saucers have actually crash-landed and been recovered by the military in great secrecy. The claim has been generally dismissed for lack of proof, yet the evidence is compelling. Former US Air Force intelligence officer Leonard Stringfield, for example, has now collected at least forty such accounts, some of them from first-hand witnesses. One incident that now seems indisputable - in the sense that anomalous wreckage was recovered - occurred within a few days of the United Airlines sighting, and has been the subject of one of the most thoroughly documented investigations on record.

On the evening of 2 July 1947 a bright, disc-shaped object was seen flying over Roswell, New Mexico, heading north-west. The following day widely scattered wreckage was discovered about seventy-five miles north-west of Roswell by a local ranch manager, William Brazel, together with his son and daughter. The authorities were eventually alerted and a quantity of wreckage was recovered by Major Jesse Marcel, a staff intelligence officer of the 509th Bomb Group Intelligence Office at the Army Air Forces base at Roswell Field, together with a Counter-Intelligence Corps officer. Once the officers had returned to the Roswell base, an official press statement was released, authorised by Colonel William Blanchard, confirming that the wreckage of a flying disc had been recovered. Marcel was ordered to load the debris on a B-29 and fly it to Wright field (now Wright-Patterson AFB) at Dayton, Ohio, for examination.

On arrival at an intermediate stop at Carswell Army Air Forces Base, Fort Worth, Texas (headquarters of the Eight Air Force), General Roger Ramey took charge and ordered Marcel and others on the plane not to talk to reporters. A second press statement was issued which stated that the wreckage was nothing more than the remains of a weather balloon and it's attached tinfoil radar target, and this was prominently displayed at the press conference. Meanwhile, the _real_ wreckage arrived at Wright Field under armed guard; Marcel returned to Roswell, and Brazel was held incommunicado for nearly a week while the crash site was stripped of every scrap of debris.

A news leak via press wire from Albuquerque describing this fantastic story was interrupted and the radio station in question, and another, were warned not to continue the broadcast:

'ATTENTION ALBUQUERQUE: CEASE TRANSMISSION. REPEAT. CEASE TRANSMISSION. NATIONAL SECURITY ITEM. DO NOT TRANSMIT. STAND BY....'
The unidentified wreckage, scattered over an area three-quarters of a mile long by several hundred feet wide, consisted of various types of material, which according to Major Marcel was like nothing he had seen before or since:

"There was all kinds of stuff - small beams about three eights or a half inch square with some sort of hieroglyphics on them that nobody could decipher. These looked something like balsa wood, and were of about the same weight, except that they were of about the same weight, except that they were not wood at all. They were very hard, although flexible, and would not burn. There was a great deal of unusual parchment-like substance which was brown in color and extremely strong, and a great number of small pieces of a metal like tinfoil, except that it wasn't tinfoil."
Marcel added that one piece of metal foil, two feet long and a foot wide, was so durable that it could not be dented with a sledgehammer, despite its being incredibly light. Marcel was absolutely convinced that the material had nothing to do with a weather balloon or a radar target. His testimony cannot be dismissed, owing to his background in aviation: he had served as a bombardier, waist-gunner and pilot, had logged 468 hours of combat flying in B-24 aircraft, and was awarded five air medals for shooting down enemy aircraft in World War II. Towards the end of the war he was attached to 509th Bomb Wing, an elite military group for which all those involved required high-security clearances. Following the Roswell incident he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and assigned to a Special Weapons Program that specialised in analysing air samples to discover if the Russians had detonated their first nuclear bomb.

Marcel was quite certain that no bodies were among the debris, and that whatever the object was it must have exploded above ground level. But the evidence suggests that there was _another_ crash site, in an area west of Socorro, New Mexico, known as the Plains of San Agustin, where witnesses discovered not only a damaged metallic 'craft' resting on the flat desert ground, but also dead bodies.

The first witness on the scene was Grady L. 'Braney' Barnett, a civil engineer with the US Soil Conservation Service who was on a military assignment at the time. He told some friends that in July 1947 he had encountered a metallic,disc-shaped 'aircraft' about twenty-five or thirty feet in diameter. While he was examining it, a small group of people arrived who said they were part of an archaeological research team from the University of Pennsylvania. Barnett recalled:

"I noticed that they were standing around looking at some dead bodies that had fallen to the ground. I think there were others in the machine, which was a kind of metallic...disc. It was not all that big. It seemed to be made of metal that looked like dirty stainless steel. The machine had been split open by explosion or impact."
"I tried to get close to see what the bodies were like. They were all dead as far as I could see and there were bodies inside and outside the vehicle. The ones outside had been tossed out by the impact. They were like humans but they were not humans. The heads were round, the eyes were small, and they had no hair. The eyes were oddly spaced. They were quite small by our standards and their heads were larger in proportion to their bodies than ours. Their clothing seemed to be one-piece and grey in colour. You couldn't see any zippers, belts or buttons. They seemed to be all males and there were a number of them. I as close enough to touch them but I didn't - I was escorted away before I could [do so]."

"While we were looking at them a military officer drove up in a truck with a driver and took control. He told everybody that the Army was taking over and to get out of the way. Other military personnel cam up and cordoned of the area. We were told to leave the area and not to talk to anyone whatever about what we had seen...that it was out patriotic duty to remain silent."

Regrettably, this account cannot be regarded as reliable since it was related to friends of the witness in 1950: Barnett died in 1969 and the authors of "The Roswell Incident" a book which examines the evidence then available, were therefore unable to interview him. But those who knew 'Barney' Barnett described him as the very model of a respectable and honest citizen - hardly likely to invent such a fantastic tale. Members of the University of Pennsylvania team have yet to come forward or be located, although William Moore has established the the University was involved in archaeological digs in the area at that time.

It is not known for certain if the craft and occupants allegedly witnessed by Barnett were connected with the Roswell Wreckage. The Plains of San Agustin, near Magdalena, New Mexico, are about 150 miles west of Brazel's ranch site. Was the wreckage recovered there part of the same craft that had somehow managed to remain airborne for that distance before crashing on the Plains, or was it another craft that had also come to grief? We may never know the full story, but Bill Moore, in one of his updated research papers on the Roswell incident, concludes that while there is insufficient evidence to substantiate Barnett's story or to justify linking it with the proven recovery of anomalous wreckage at Brazel's ranch site, this is no reason to dismiss the account out of hand. there is also the intriguing hypothesis that the first press release, announcing the recovery of a crashed disc, was a counter-intelligence ploy to deflect attention from the craft and bodies bear Magdalena. If so, it worked.

Leading investigators Bill Moore and Stanton Friedman (the latter a nuclear physicist as well as a UFO researcher) have interviewed no less than ninety-two witnesses who provide information about this sensational incident, of who thirty were involved with the discovery, recovery or subsequent official cover-up, and ten of the original witnesses have identified the object as non-terrestrial in origin.

This is the exact transcript from what I have from Timothy Good's book - "Above Top Secret". It also goes on to say the the Majestic Twelve documents contain the quote "the remains of four alien bodies were recovered two miles from the Roswell wreckage site."

Please feel free to e-mail me at aw38@wumpus.cc.uow.edu.au if you want more info on the MJ-12 documents or any other UFO related topic. Hope I've elightened some people to the event.

Cheers,

didn't timothy goood write alien base aswell.i still think it was a nazi saucer the americans were flying, and the government would prefer we think it was a alien ufo, especailly the russians.a serious case of chinese whispers, attention seekers and government misinformation.i also find it hard to believe that an advanced race can make it across the universe and get twatted by ack ack guns or a thunder storm as soon as they arrive.people are making far too much money from roswell for you not to believe it.It comes from the place where myths and legends come from.

Stanton Friedman has been investigating Roswell since 1961 and has been researching the UFO phenomena since 1958.
I value his opinion greatly. If nothing else for his shear knowledge he has amassed that contributed immensely toward his opinions.
He has been in it for 50 years.
Me, I have been in it for 43 years and share the same opinion...Roswell is a case of a crashed alien craft.

Stanton has investigated the Roswell incident longer and more thoroughly than anyone what convinces you that he is totally wrong?

i think he is in cohoots with the gov.So what is the Official account the one given by the military,i'm still convinced it was a nazi design saucer being tested.most of if not all the evidence were witness statements, their weren't that many, Roswell back in 1947 is sparsley populated,we all know what happens with small town rumours.

I'm beginning to fear that the whole Roswell incident was a deliberate mis-mis-misinformation campaign orchestrated by the military or the government or whoever to completely f**k with everybody's heads! There's so much evidence here, there and everywhere - for and against, it's so messy!

It hurts my head just thinking about it...

I would tend to agree. My opinion is that the whole UFO/alien phenomenon is extra-dimensional in nature - not extra-terrestrial. I have drawn this conclusion from my own personal experience...

So yeah, i fully agree that it was a cover-up, trying to hide the existence of experimental 'terrestrial' aircraft.

i tend to find when looking into a majority of these sightings you always come up with a dead end...right near a military base.authorised to use deadly force.they are taking somthing seriously.

you mentioned dimensions,i believe they can be crossed, like changing channel on tv or radio.

The "case Roswell" it is the more main point and documented accident of UFO of the modern era. If his exact dating and uncertain anchor, putting however himselff among 2 and the 4 of July 1947, certain they are the places, the events and the protagonists that lived them in first person. Everything this, despite on the case the Pentagon has to the epoch decided to lower a heavy blanket of silence, officially actually maintained to today. This way, during the first ten days of that July by now far, the "case Roswell" it ended on the pages of all the principal newspapers of the world for then to be forgotten. It is alone from a 15 years and state "unofficially" reopened by a crowd of researchers that they have retraced the facts, reaching the conclusion that the accident really happened and that the American Government started it keeping silent, as he has been, during the years, for the majority of the witnesses that they had directly gotten involved.

you mentioned dimensions,i believe they can be crossed, like changing channel on tv or radio.

No one doubts what happened, somthing crashed, but it wasn't aliens.it was something we made.
