I'm not sure if I relayed this experience here at AU or another forum I use to go to..but I'm certain that I've posted it before..yes, I believe it must have been here...but spare me from having to drag it up again...I'm just interested hearing any fresh takes on it. It occurred some time ago...when I was on my last patrol of the night and heading home..it could have been an effect of narcolepsy...but even now does not seem so...the quality was entirely different. Anyway, what it amounted to is that I passed two guys alongside the road. It was a rural road with no street lights and I was driving slow. My first thought was to question why these two were out walking so late and as I passed them by, they both turned to look at me..my lights caught their faces...but they had none....totally blank and white where a face should have been. They were gone when I came back around. Nothing. These two were not 'ghostly' but solid and real. I was completely unnerved. Still am when I think about it. Has anyone had any similar experience?

Jesus 22 turned around. If I saw people with no faces the only thing turning around would be my wheels getting away from them.

It was a couple of years ago...no, three, I think...I was just wondering if anyone else had such an encounter before.

Yeah, I had to turn around...but I was scared shitless. lol

This is as close as I can get...I think the facial plane was smoother though but that may have just been the effects of the headlights shiny on a relatively smooth surface...they did seem to shine...

Sounds like you may have run up on a couple of crooks tutu!!!

Were there any reported crimes of breaking and entering in the surrounding area that night? Robberies?

The ‘blank faces’ could have been masks like pantyhose etc.

Their vehicle may have broken down and they pushed it off-road and ‘hoofed’ it.

So as to be not easily identifiable, they kept their masks on and when you drove by, they may have assumed (correctly) you were trouble and went off-road to hide.

Besides the featureless faces, was there anything in their gait etc that seemed ‘inhuman’? ~rore

No, it was a rural road...one lane and no houses for quite a bit. I've seen men with pantyhose on their face...it was not that...I was close enough in passing by to tell. If they had broke down, I would have found their vehicle...they simply could not have pushed it into the dense wood even if they meant to conceal it. If they were wearing masks (and I tell you it was not any kind of pantyhose) but if they were...they were not carrying any 'loot' bags. Further, if they had failed in their B&E attempt and had been scared off...there were no reports to come across the scanner. Neither did they dive into the wood in an attempt to allude me...they surely seen my on coming car...nor did they attempt to flag me as a stranded person would do. Other than their faces, they seemed entirely human to me as I approached. Normally, I would have slowed to a stop and asked their business but as I came up on them...I was so taken aback that I did not stop. I was scared. It does not make any sense to me at all. I need to find my original post if its still here and refresh my memory.

being a long distance driver ,driving at night can play tricks with are eyes, while driving our peripheral vision is only 19% effective.i fear that may have been a factor.a handful of times i have seen some things that made me take a second look..for a couple ,i have no answers for myself..but with this being a familiar routine for you,you are not the sort that make a mistake like not seeing a face.it would have give me the chills.

Thanks, macdaddy...my observation and recall is pretty good..plus I was looking directly at them as I passed...I do have narcolepsy and I do see things while driving when not on medication...that wasn't a factor that night...and, even if it were, I've had enough of those type of experiences to know the difference...I just don't have an explanation that sits well with me at the moment. dunno.gif

Wow, that is really, really creepy... I can't imagine seeing that! Props on handling yourself well. wink.gif

While you say they were solid and not "ghostly," my own thoughts, had I come across this myself, would be that they were SOME type of spirit/paranormal being. Maybe not a conventional ghost, but I honestly can't think of what else to call that. dunno.gif

I agree. They certainly weren't natural. Needless to say, I did not report them to dispatch. lol

Holy shit that picture scared me. I can't think of a time this happened to me, although I have had to take second looks at things. Do you have any mental condition(s) {Clinical Depression, Bipolar, ADD, ADHD, etc.}?

No, I have narcolepsy. Narcolepsy can produce hallucinations but they are not accompanied by the delusions found in psychiatric disorders. For an example of what I mean, try the exercise at the following link. Notice that no delusion accompanied your hallucination.

I've been through the whole range of psychiatric tests...both for the military and law enforcement...and am quite stable...I don't worry about that...though I don't admit of my belief in aliens lol

First: I love the hallucination vid. Second: the faceless people remind me of monsters in Japanese folklore.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noppera-b%C5%8D

22 I would like to share some information with you, but please understand that i am not an expert, or doctor and I am not trying to be an alarmist.

There is a condition called prosopagnosia which is caused by brain damage following a stroke which leaves the victim unable to recognize faces. My Grandfather had a mild stroke some years ago and had this condition for 6 months of his life. He has since fully recovered. While I was searching around to try to understand his condition I learned of some cases where the prosopagnosia was a life time affliction and some cases just a moment in time.

I have no idea if prosopagnosia has any link with narcolepsy but maybe it wouldn't hurt to look into it?

There is also a case study involving a police officer:http://www.yorku.ca/ycom/focus/story6.html
Here is another link with some other studies:http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.11/blind_pr.html

I understand that it may have been a one off but please explore all avenues.
