Ok I gotta say it and I know its petty..but...I miss 'ol blue...you know, that blue layout with the 'area 51' sign that signified Alien-UFOs.com? The new layout is pretty cool too...I guess I'm just missing the old crew that use to frequent this place... Silly, I know lol

i liked the blue,more refined and a bit more classy.this is bit too creepshow magaziney type halloweeny....if you get what i mean.the blue looked more seroius..its what attracted me in the first place.it didn't look like just another alien ufo/paranormal forum.

I see a lot of old timers here....in fact, I'm seeing some that I hadn't seen in ages...but not many people seem to be posting much..you know me, I post like crazy when I'm in the mood lol

People take breaks, but it's sad when someone leaves for good.

P.S. I like the green design more because there is less fuss, it's more professional, and less crammed. The green theme is just enough not to make it a completely suit-and-tie affair, and I like that.

im gonna be honest and say that this place has gotten pretty lame not because of the layout (although having to "go green" to change my avatar is bull) but the fact that alot of good peeps (like abadaka) have just up and gone.

I must admit: the Going Green is going a bit too far just to add/ edit your avatar. That's just going to scare people off. If not the ones that are already here, then certainly the prospective members.

Sorry you guys feel that way, But this website isn't run on good intentions (although I did that at a loss for the last 3 years)
I dont like how you guys are so easy to pass the blame off on me. Its 25 bucks for a YEAR. Cmon, you cant do 25 bucks in a year? Thats like, 3/4 of a cent a day. If you guys enjoy this forum as much as you say you do, why not contribute so I dont have to feel the total financial cost myself? Yes, I disabled features to encourage people to upgrade and support the site. Im just dissapointed that only a few of you have done it. As far as giving more features to non payers, that would create even less of a reason for people to upgrade.

Tell ya what. Upgrade to the green group, and then you can complain at me all day long, and Il listen to your complaints. Until then, you are just a freeloader (not trying to offend or anything, but realise I havent made anything (Negative money, in fact) over the past 3 years. All I am looking for here is to break even. The cost for the dedicated server for this site is $165 a month. Ive made $50 in the last 6 months.

btw- the above post isnt meant to lash out at anyone- All I want is for AU to be self supporting, so we can keep it online forever. Nobody is getting rich off of this, but you all know that "politely asking for donations" made me 0.00 in 3 years. Advertisements dont work either. So please guys, help me, help you. Go green yourself, and encourage new users to do it. Its so little to you, and saves me from getting killed on this.

It doesnt reveal your identity to anyone really. The only info I receive is "email@email.com has signed up for GO GREEN!" So make a fake email if you are concerned. Anyone can sign up for paypal.

Yesh, I went green. But I still think that avatar change should be free. And that is not the reason I went green. My avatar is going to stay the same. At least for now.

cmdr im not hatin on you i don't even care that much about the go green i am just annoyed with all the people leavin.

If they left, I assure you its nothing to do with me, or the design. I havent heard a single complaint from anyone, and its not like the place is getting worse- its getting better. As we improve our rankings in the search engines, we will be getting more activity than before, so dont go anywhere

Sorry, cmdr...if you misunderstood the intent of my post...it wasn't to complain about the forum...not really...I simply missed the old AU signature look...that's all. I understand completely the need to make this forum self-supportive. In fact, I plan on contributing to its support within the next week. Its given me a lot of enjoyment and information...and I've met some terrific people along the way...I'd hate to see it go down for lack of support. For all that I have gotten from it, it certainly is worth $25.00. I notice that even among those who complain about this place, they still frequent it on a regular basis. So, I agree...if you like this place, then contribute to its upkeep...and if you don't like it, find another forum...

I contributed to green even though I didn't need to.
I enjoy this forum more than any other that I am a member.
