Well yeah there have always been near extinction events, but then the species bottlenecks and well there is alot more lost in near extinction events than just the population number, specific DNA codes, thats what sucks. But yeah its amazing that we bottlenecked to 6 Billion + but were going to have to through another near extinction event , at least now we can try to predict it and try to survive it with all of our technology

Maye aliens intervened and split us up so as not to put all of mother nature's eggs in one basket.

Now that is an interesting idea. And to some degree is what happened, I'll be it not a very big degree.

Only takes 2 hormone crazed careless college students to make it happen all over again. We are pretty un-extinctionable (I know this is not a word).

Well, it also takes 6.6 billion people sitting back doing nothing to stop them for it to happen too.

This is an interesting topic. It's interesting to think how few we once were.

In 1856 near the river Neander, next to Düsseldorf, in Germany, the first rests of a particular kind of Homo Sapiens were found again lived approximately in one inclusive period among 150.000 and 40.000 years ago. And it is really from 1856 that the most important scientists of the whole world try to resolve the manifold enigmas that surround the figure of the Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis.

Sure, it's possible that humans were around that long ago. Nothing to disprove it.
During the eras, much topigraphical events have occured that may have buried that which we are to search for.
Given 200,000 years, the earth's plates have changed.
Meanwhile, we keep building cities and whatnot over that which may be interesting to us.
Only in some cases, is continued building/re-building halted for the sake of science investigations.
We just keep on rollin' over our past.

You should look at my other post of today, and another. The other as a hint that could explain certain events.
I have my own theories about the "great flood" and some other catastrophies that have occurred for the past millenia or so.

bml.....yes humans or their ancestors were around 200,000 years ago.....but they have only been around in one era...(the cenozioc)....and I am sure the the ice advances since that time have eliminated much evidence.....as has time in general.....(erosion & weathering)...so there are only threads of remaining evidence.

bml....I'm sorry but I can't really see what you are hinting at... blink.gif .....but I'd love to hear some of your theories.
